    Nice back track! I guess everyone has an overlord to keep happy. Yeah, the Hightower which drops tomorrow, will be identical to the Bronson. They should just use a "flip chip" for MX and 29er.

      @@sirvince7853 Damn, I was hoping it didn’t come across like that but I guess it was inevitable. For the record nobody leant on me from SC or their distributor here in the UK and personally I’m still not a fan of the new changes on Bronson. But when I pull my head out of my own hard pedalling perversions it’s pretty clear I’m in a very small minority compared to most mountain bikers I see riding bikes with this much travel. If anything it was the UA-cam video that MBR posted discussing the written review I did for them that made me second guess my initial thoughts. I couldn’t possibly comment on Hightower, apart from saying drop by in 6 hours and you might see another SC video on here 😏 whether it’ll make any sense I don’t know though as it’s 2:40am here and I only just finished editing it!

    Darn. I'm a little bummed that the new Bronson isn't as poppy and lively as the previous. Reading the tea leaves, I guess future full suspension SC bikes will be getting heavier, more slack, planted and less lively than they are now. Since this bike rides more like a Nomad (it's geo is almost identical the the current Nomad), the next Nomad will probably be getting an equal bump in descending performance to match.
    Also sounds like you have a new Hightower on deck for review as well. Looking forward to it.

      I hope the next nomad will be a freeride/“freeduro”/park rig like the spindrift. I rode the N4 for ages but recently dismantled it to build a v10 as I rode my 5010.4 90 per cent of times but I do start to miss a capable bike that I don’t have to push up..

      @@MrGourd nothing worse that doing a big ride on a heavy, slow feeling bike. I’d have to actually ride these bikes to see but most of the riding I do is punchy ups with short descents in New England and it’s a fine line with these bigger bikes. Too slack and the tech climbing is harder and any advantage on the downs doesn’t pay off for me.

    Interesting that the new stumpy isn’t selling that well. I think it’s mostly bc of the lack of cable ports. But also in regards to what u said about travel: the 145 mm is enough travel for the bikes intended application, but ppl are too focused on the mm.

      Great insight.. I’ll head to the Hightower info asap. Will the 5010 get the VPP revisions and maybe a touch more travel?

    • @Bonky-wonky
      @Bonky-wonky Місяць тому +1

      @@grantwilliams2912probably, everything seems to shift to more travel and more stable geometry. Biggest question is what will happen to the mega/nomad as the bronson and hightower are coming pretty close. Hoping the nomad will become something along the lines of the spindrift, basically a freeride bike that can take a dropper and big cassette but can also be dressed up as a park rig.

    I’m after a new bike. Hightower is an option. Bronson 5 is most likely. Right now. But… I’ll be waiting for the revamped 5010 first. And then decide. Having said that. The new Ibis Ripmo and Ripley are also tempting options.

    Do you currently have both the Bronson and Hightower? It appears they are both using the same links and rumors are the front triangles are the same. Are the mounting points on the front triangle the same for both bikes? Is the only difference the shape of the rear triangle? Like a little longer and maybe extends down slightly more?

    I have the previous Bronson, which I like, but I don't think Id get the new one. Not just because my tastes buck the trend you describe towards softer rear suspension, but because there's no longer an "xs" with 27.5" at the front. I could ride a bike with the new smalls reach (which seems the minimum these days), but only if the stack was much, much lower (i.e. small wheel/less travel).

    So the hightower is basically the same bike except it weighs less, and 29 f+r.
    I stay on the ground more and like speed. Is the hightower they way to go?
    Thanks again

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  25 днів тому

      Absolutely. Hightower has faster roll, lower weight and also pedals and pops better. If you like speed save that MaxxGrip front tyre for really sketchy days and fit a normal compound front though.
