I love your videos, keep them coming! I had a question about the stinger rig you make for king and such. I love the idea and it allows the stinger to sit that much better. But have you had break offs due to the swivel and 40lb as wire? I went fishing on Sunday and managed to have an epic day, but I lost a good mahi on the rig. It broke during the first jump (part due to me having the drag set a little too tight on my star drag reel), but seems somehow it broke at the loop holding the hook and swivel. Might just be a fluke, but had to ask.
Anyone got a recommendation for me?
I haven't had luck finding a Mustad hook that is offset and has on more open face, like a VMC sureset or Nemesis? These style hooks are my favorite to use for surf casting and for bottom fishing piers. Trying to find a Mustad style like this, in hulk! Thanks!!

What’s your opinion on hooks for fishing live pin fish for snook, groupers, snapper? Reason why I ask is it’s snapper season in a few days I believe for red snapper and am using 20lb braid to 25-30lb mono or fluoro leader on a 6ft medium -medium heavy rod and 4000 size reel oh and I’m a light to ultra light tackle type of guy and fish from a ten foot kayak and yes I’m nuts.

mustad is the deal.. I use them exclusively for my smaller fish fishing..
My opinion still to this day stays the same. If it doesn't bend. works for the application I need to it for I'll use it. Though being I love mustad and I'd prefer them over the other brands, I still do like owner & gamakatsu.

I stopped using the "new China made" Mustad hooks, i was a hard core Mustad customer, when they stopped making the hooks in house in Norway to subcontracting out to China. I still have about 1000 plus old school original Mustad hooks, including my favorite cadmium plated live bait 7/0 hooks. Used to buy them buy the box. Such a shame for a great company to chase a dollar.
Please tell me that Mustad has gone back to making hooks in Norway. Heard anything ?

The reality is that it’s a global economy, and very few are willing to pay the price for anything made in countries with a high wage structure. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, it just the way it is. People want to make good wages and to retain more of that money, and part of that equation is making purchases that help retain more of the earned wage. That means they can buy more with their take home pay. I applaud folks who support companies in their country, but I also applauded people, who are fiscally responsible as well. It’s a double edged sword, final decision to purchase domestic, import or a mix, is up to the individual. The important thing is to respect each other because we don’t know the other guy's situation. Keep fishing and keep having fun!
Yeah, the thing is, 8 year olds in Norway can decide what gender they want to be, but they can't decide to work at the fishhook factory, soooo.... China wins that one. Not sure it's really dollar chasing... god only knows how many fishhooks you have to sell to pay 1 Norwegian's payroll taxes.
