Walmart in the Fall lol We have ordered through online nurseries like Gurney's but prefer Garden Gate, but that's in Peru. Since we will be pruning them to be so short, we might as well just buy online.

Those seem tiny for 4 years old. My 4 year old peach is 12-14 feet tall. Also, that seems excessive to cut them that much. I am no expert tho.

The average life of a peach tree in the United States is only nine years. This is mostly due to peach trees in ability to revegetate after heavy pruning. Apple trees fare better because they have dormant buds which produce water sprouts that can replace the trees vegetation. Never remove more than 20% of your trees live vegetation because that’s how your tree makes its food. heading cuts should only be used as a last resort to completely removing a branch or leader. Heading cuts are useful in training young Wood. A trees size should be dictated by its species or in the case of grafted trees by its route stock. The typical scenario that I see is someone buys a semi dwarf tree and then spend the next 20 years, trying to keep it small. That’s bad for the homeowner and bad for the tree. Both are working very hard. In the forest, most trees grow as a strong central leader. The strong central leader is the best way to grow a strong and long lived tree. If you don’t want a big fruit tree purchase a true dwarf tree. Dwarf trees produce much more quickly than do semi dwarf or standard trees, and need an extremely minimum amount of pruning. Happy gardening.

Wow, thank you for all of that! I'll have to do a follow-up video on the trees that we pruned. There were some others that we pruned, like a few serviceberry and some bushes, and everything is going really well.

Haha yes, we just want them to be short...we have so many trees planted that they won't all fit.
