This man is a WONDER TEACHER! When he started giving brief instructions for WHAT/WHY/WHERE he was cutting, THATS WHEN I REALIZED HE IS AN EXCEPTION TEACHER!
The awesome thing about your videos is that they're not just entertaining but also seriously educational! I learn so much! And then I can come back later for a refresher when I need it. Thank you!
I think your pruning videos are the best! Not only do you show how to prune, but also explain why you prune each branch. Just so informative. Thank you!!
"This one here, I don't like it, I'm going to take it off, and that's how it's going to be." Made me smile. Fantastic video! Got my peaches all pruned yesterday and I understood why I needed to make each cut! There were a few though that had me waffling and then I remembered your comment above. :)
This is my first spring on new 5b property, so I ordered x20 fruit trees! I'll be using all the tips in your videos. Wish me luck and let me know if you want a hand in the final layout
I have a small backyard orchard in South Dakota. I love hearing about northern gardeners making their own little orchards. I have cherries, peach, apple and pears. What are you buying?
@8th C.Elisabeth I was going to get cherries too, but they only had one variety in stock, so i got apples, pears, plums, peaches, apricots, nectarine. Tried to get all disease resistant and dwarf but I grabbed a couple of half-standard Apples I'll put on the north end. How close do you think I should put them along the woods? There's one Maple in the area that has branches stretching 25' out and over the area I want to plant.
What happens if you prune a young peach tree in the spring? I missed pruning in the winter because I didn’t know to prune it then. Not sure if I should go ahead and prune it now or wait until this winter. It’s a 2 year old tree.
James, this is the best instructional pruning video I have run across! An explanation for everything you do, full coverage of the topic, and no time wasted on unnecessary bullshit. Really well put together, packed with information. More power to your elbow, and your pruning arm!!
This was so helpful! Thank you for taking us through your process and explaining the reasoning behind each cut. I feel ready to prune my tree. Thank you!
This is very timely for me as I will soon be pruning my peach trees. Last year I didn't prune enough of the 1 year old wood and subsequently the trees had too many peaches, more than the branches could support. Both of my trees then lost limbs during a severe thunderstorm, they were overburdened with the heavy fruit and snapped off of the main branches. Glad to hear Tuck is doing better!
Very nice to see you James! I think that every time I see you prune a tree, I understand it better. It seems like peach trees must grow very fast to need so much pruning each year. I love the idea of keeping the tree short, and taking very good care of it. Looking forward to your next video. Good health and happiness to you and yours! Hugs, kissies, and well-wishes for Tuck!
Awesome video. Thank you. Very clear and easy to understand. I like it that you also explained why the types of cuts were important. I have two peach trees that I'll be pruning this week, and I feel far more ready to do so now.
I am so happy to see you guys back in the garden. I'm also happy to see the Boss looking wonderful as usual I pray that he will be with you for a very long time. I know you are taking great care of each other
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to guide us through your pruning process. I now feel confident and ready to tackle pruning my own tree. Thank you once again!
Great reminder for me to get out and prune my peach trees. Also, in case you missed it... there is a Spotted Lantern Fly egg case on the main branch..it is at 1 min. 47 sec. They really infested my young fruit trees last year. Good luck to you and the Tuck this season. Much appreciation from PA zone 6b/7 💓
Super impressed you spotting that. I had to goog as I had no idea what you were seeing. Looking at the territory map, they are currently Low in my area, but thanks for clueing me in to keep an eye out! They coming.
Pruned today using your methods. Your explanation made it all clear. I shaped five interspecific plumcots, dapple dandy etc. into 3-5 base trunks growing into scaffolds. The company had already lopped off the main trunk but never would have known to snip off hugely long ends shooting into the sky. Thanks!
So nice to see you and Tuck! Perfect timing...I was trudging through the snow to look at our peach trees and contemplating how I'd be pruning them. I always like a refresher when it comes to pruning. You have the best videos and I always learn something new. Thanks, James and Tuck!
Whew, that was a hard prune, but you've proved you know what you're doing! Good information, thank you. So good to see you (and Tuck! ❤) again!

This was SO incredibly helpful. Especially since I’m raising my new peach tree here in New Jersey. Have watched so many videos that just weren’t really explaining how and why they were pruning the way they were. Your step-by-step play by play finally made sense. Thank you!!
This video has so much information! I wish I knew all this info when I got my peach tree. I let it get way too big. I need to get out and do some serious pruning to get it back under control. I have been trying to watch videos over this winter to see what to do and your explanations were exactly what I needed to hear.
You reiterate that these trees always make too much fruit. My squirrel visitors are hoping so too! It’s my first first peach tree this spring so we will see who wins that battle.
This was the best peach pruning video I have seen, thank you! I have tried to find a video to clearly explain step by step the process and no one has made it as understandable! Thank you!
By far the best pruning video I've found for peaches. Most film from too far away and I can't really see what they've done. Thank you and pat Tuck for me.
Just bought a hoodie and a t-shirt. Your pup reminds me of my Presley, she lasted 14 years and I miss her every day. She was definitely guardian of the garden 🪴 ♥️
Thanks James! Because of you I bought fruit trees late Fall of '21 & Spring '22 and now I'm getting brave to make those first pruning cuts this week. Much appreciation, Roxanne Zone5 Ontario 🇨🇦 Sending hugs 🤗 to sweet Tuck🐾
Lets Goooo Roxanne!! Thanks for the generous donation and the hugs for the little guy. The love support means more to me and Tuck than you know, its our fuel! 🐕😁❤️
Phenomenal video as always man. I've been watching your channel for a few years now and you're always one of my go to gardening channel for tips and everything. And I LOVE your energy and enthusiasm you bring every time. Keep up the great work as always man and never stop being You!
My peach tree fruited for the first time last year. I am pretty excited to have a bigger harvest this year. i will definitely follow your pruning suggestions. Here in South Dakota though, fungal diseases haven't been an issue, per drier prairie. Squirrels though...wow. Terrible roof rats. Happy to see Tuck and to hear he is doing well. Thanks for the winter content!
Yeah! James and Tuck are back! I don't have trees, but everything you post is absolutely educational and enjoyable. Blessing to you and your family. 🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋 For Tuck!
Excellent, I like that you explained every cut. Whether repetitive or not, it wasn't a "30 minutes later heres 40% of the tree pruned" with no demonstration. Just a nice after 5-10 minutes of watching the cuts, it all made sense....
I have a peach tree I planted at about same time you planted this one. We're in Texas. It was damaged early on by deer and it's a mess. I've watched a lot of vids trying to figure out what to do with it. THIS ONE IS BY FAR THE MOST HELPFUL I've seen. You really helped me and when I go to prune it, I (finally!) feel confident how to do it properly. THANK YOU. 🍑
i can't begin to tell you how much I have learned from you within the past 2 years. You are my "garden savior." All my love goes out to the Tuckster! I told you a while back that I wanted merch with "The MAN".
Thank you so much. I just bought a house with peach and apple trees 😂 You video was easy to watch and very informative. Thank you for staying on topic and love the guardian ❤❤❤
James I watched your video several times. Been waiting for better weather but finally decided to put on snow boots ski gloves and heavy coat. We keep getting snow. But I pruned my peach tree today. Last year I followed your instructions and pruned my tree. We had a late freeze. I had a tall friend help me clamp tarps on the limbs. I only lost peach’s in one small area where the wind blew the tarp up. This year I got braver and pruned heavier. Thank you for your great close up instructions! Looking forward to great lemon Alberta peaches again this year.
So glad we found this video... our peach tree is out of control . We took off so many peaches before knowing that peach trees are heavy producers. We have had so much wind this year (Northern California), and branches keep snapping. We should be able to pick our fruit within the next week or 10 days. That's for sharing your knowledge!
Best pruning video I’ve seen so far. Planting my first peach tree in zone 4 when it arrives in May (I think). This is just the tutorial I was looking for! Glad Tuck is doing better too!
Just came across your video. I desperately need to prune my 2 trees and your video has given me some great insight as to what I should be looking to do to improve my trees. Thanks for the video!
Excellent video, thank you! I'm going to use this for my monstrous nectarine tree. We're coming into Autumn here (South Australia) and I was dreading how to tackle it but your video gives me confidence that I can win the battle lol
This man is a WONDER TEACHER! When he started giving brief instructions for WHAT/WHY/WHERE he was cutting, THATS WHEN I REALIZED HE IS AN EXCEPTION TEACHER!
Glad to see you both back and SO happy Tuck is doing well.
Thanks Toni! Yeah we came back a bit earlier this year cause we couldn't stay away any longer haha
@@jamesprigioni😅
This is like a free online class. Thank you, James. I learnt something new and I'm going to apply it to my peaches and nectarines and apples.
This is a free online class. Also you ahould check out skillcult on youtube, he has a lot of information on apple tree pruning on his channel
The best peach pruning video on UA-cam!
How much time must this man spend learning, to be able to share so well with all of us!!? It's VERY appreciated!
The awesome thing about your videos is that they're not just entertaining but also seriously educational! I learn so much! And then I can come back later for a refresher when I need it. Thank you!
This was exactly the video I needed today! I keep looking out to see our peach tree that I know needs to be pruned soon. Thank you for the tips!
You explain so well as you prune. You really are a great teacher!
I think your pruning videos are the best! Not only do you show how to prune, but also explain why you prune each branch. Just so informative. Thank you!!
Agreed, this is the best peach tree pruning video I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot. Thank you sir.
Why no info on production weight value, zone and micro climate and much MUCH more.
Bought my first house and bought two dwarf peach trees. Going outside to prune them now! This is their third year growing and I have flowers on them!!
Any issues I should know, when pruning late? Mine started blooming..
Thx..
OH EM GEEEEEE! So excited to see you starting back into production. I hope you and Tuck are rested, well, and ready to tackle the new season.
Thank you, James, for doing these pruning videos! 💜

Good luck! That's a lot to manage all at once.
What happens if you prune a young peach tree in the spring? I missed pruning in the winter because I didn’t know to prune it then. Not sure if I should go ahead and prune it now or wait until this winter. It’s a 2 year old tree.
This is the best peach tree pruning demonstration I've seen! Really helps me understand the why and how. Thanks!

The best peach pruning video yet!
it's missing TONS of relevant information. I had to thumbs down it.
Thank you this one is well timed and I’m looking forward to more fruit this year!
Let's Gooo Gary!!!
Awesome video. Thank you. Very clear and easy to understand. I like it that you also explained why the types of cuts were important. I have two peach trees that I'll be pruning this week, and I feel far more ready to do so now.
Out of all the peach tree videos I’ve watched, yours is the most informative and easiest to understand. Thank you!
I am so happy to see you guys back in the garden. I'm also happy to see the Boss looking wonderful as usual I pray that he will be with you for a very long time. I know you are taking great care of each other
One of the best teachers. So humble. Makes one so comfortable even watching on UA-cam.

Glad to hear/see Tucker is doing well. He is loved. He knows it. He is not ready to leave yet. Long live Tucker the guardian of the garden! ❤❤❤
So nice to see you and Tuck! Perfect timing...I was trudging through the snow to look at our peach trees and contemplating how I'd be pruning them. I always like a refresher when it comes to pruning. You have the best videos and I always learn something new. Thanks, James and Tuck!
Thanks for this video…this finally makes sense! I knew I needed to prune more and the information you gave here just was perfect timing. Thanks James
Thank you!!

I finally bought some land and planted my first peach tree so this was super timely! Thanks.
Loved seeing Tuck again. Thanks for this content. I planted 21 trees last year and this will help me.
This is the best peach pruning video I’ve seen. I just finished eating my first homegrown peach here in Texas.❤🍑❤️🍑
You reiterate that these trees always make too much fruit. My squirrel visitors are hoping so too! It’s my first first peach tree this spring so we will see who wins that battle.
Excellent tutorial. The repetition of explanation as you prune really helps us absorb the lesson. Thank you!
This was the best peach pruning video I have seen, thank you! I have tried to find a video to clearly explain step by step the process and no one has made it as understandable! Thank you!
😁
Watching this is 2024 because I dont want to miss pruning my Georgia belle peach
Thank you! This video is EXTREMELY helpful! Wishing you and Tuck the very best.
Thanks, you made fruit tree pruning less daunting! 😊
Thank you for this. I have three three-yr-old peach trees. I’ve pruned a little, but this gave me more insight and better training. 😊
By far the best pruning video I've found for peaches. Most film from too far away and I can't really see what they've done. Thank you and pat Tuck for me.
We missed you and Tuck. I was praying Tuck was getting better and doing okay!!
Just bought a hoodie and a t-shirt. Your pup reminds me of my Presley, she lasted 14 years and I miss her every day. She was definitely guardian of the garden 🪴 ♥️

So happy to have you back! Missed seeing your delightful videos.
Love the way you explain why you are cutting each branch while you are going through the pruning process!
I got a peach tree as a birthday present today, and this information was exactly what I needed to know before I put it in the ground. Thank you!
So good to see both you you, and so glad Tuck is doing well!
Perfect timing for me here in NJ, looking at my 2yo peach trees and wondering what to do 👍🏼
Excellent, I like that you explained every cut. Whether repetitive or not, it wasn't a "30 minutes later heres 40% of the tree pruned" with no demonstration. Just a nice after 5-10 minutes of watching the cuts, it all made sense....

7:37-10:01 was particularly excellent. Thank you.

We love Tuck! ❤️❤️Our hearts ache and our prayers go up for your family
Spring has Sprung🌱
Spring is officially here. James and Tuck are back to usher in abundance.
Thank you so much. I just bought a house with peach and apple trees 😂 You video was easy to watch and very informative. Thank you for staying on topic and love the guardian ❤❤❤
So overjoyed you're back!!! I was so worriied about you and about Tuck. You are the most wonderful garden youtuber.
You’re sooo sweet! We are back and excited for the spring
♥️🥰♥️
I have ordered a peach tree for this spring, so glad to watch and learn the pruning techniques. ❤ thanks!
It’s good to see you! Have missed you and Tuck.
This was my first video of yours I have seen. It was so thorough I immediately followed! Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Finally, a video I do not fast forward through! Thank you for educating me, great valuable information well delivered. Definitely subscribed.

Thank's James. Your help is much appreciated.
So glad to see you and tuck. Great job as always.

Great info, not just how but why as well. thank you. I planted a Donut/Saturn peach tree last spring so this info is awesome to use as it grows. 👍🍑🤞
