    "the healthcare isn't even that bad." My mom's medicine that she needs for a chronic illness is $20,000 a MONTH without insurance. I'm lucky that my family has always been financially stable; I've never had to worry about food or clothes and I went to a lot of extracurriculars as a kid. Not everyone is as lucky as I've been. I'm legally blind and can't do much without my glasses; they were around $500. You can barely afford to live in america, let alone prosper.

    OP in the first post has a rosey view of America. Working hard is usually rewawred with more work and those who actually make it big were either extremly lucky or knew the right people. Yes, there may be more resoures and opportunities in America compared to other countries, but being successful isn't guaranteed either. I'm not knocking them or anything, just my persnoal opinion.

    My husband’s number 1 rule before we could get engaged was that we had to live together for at least a year. We ended up moving in together after 3 years, but we had roommates at the time (which gave a skewed view on if we could actually live together as just us) and Covid hit after us living there for a year. Fast forward to us getting our own place where it was just the two of us for 9 months, Covid restrictions started dying down, and he decided to propose on our 7 year anniversary.
    All that said, I cannot tell you how friggin often people made comments about me not having a ring yet, starting around the 3 year mark. I just brushed it off to most people saying we wanted to wait till I was done with school, but people were constantly shocked with how long I stayed with him before he proposed.

      Smart move on your then boyfriend. Living together as a couple is crucial to really get to know each other. By your finishing school comment I assume you must have been really young, early twenties? It’s creepy how so many people push for young tweens into marriage.

    7:20... After listening to the answers, do you invite people in your home and they walk all around in their socks? Spain is a shoes on kind of culture, but I've been a tutor for years and I had a lot of Chinese students, so, shoes off in there houses. Every time I enter one of these houses, I take my shoes of and they give me shoes that are only for being inside the house! Why would you go barefoot inside other people houses?

  • @psygaud
    @psygaud 9 місяців тому

    People who keep their shoes on in the house baffle me. But we have either snow, slush, or rain most of the time. I guess if you live somewhere that's always dry, leaving your shoes on wouldn't be a big deal.

    "Country full of opportunities" Clearly, you don't live here. Price Gouging has gone NUTSO WILD in america, from toys to gas to food, EVERYTHING is WAY more expensive than it needs to be, all for corporate greed. This has been happening for decades and has built to the point where it is presently more difficult to purchase a home here in the u.s. than it was during The Great Depression. And in fear of onciting the people to change this, the government and corpirations act as if everything is fine, and urge us to purchase more and donate more. My generation has been hit hard by it, barely able to get on our feet financially, much less thrive like our forefathers. The minimum wage is barely enough to subsist in a dirty, tiny apartment with a dumb phone and minimal food, and SO many people won't hirr you for anything more than that without a degree, which, in america, you have to go TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DEBT TO GET. And that's not even to mention the Medical Bills; Lifesaving oxygen costs thousands per day, Hundreds of dollars per dose of Insulin; and guess what food is cheapest? The unhealthy stuff that CAUSES Diabetes! Then there's the utterly ridiculous gas and car prices, which, in a nation like the u.s., are the only reasonable way to get anywhere, as our public transit is minimalist at best, and our entire society is built around you being able to drive to all places. It's infuriatingly stressful to try to make a living here without help, and goodness knows you won't get help from the government. In california, it's so bad that homeless tents are overflowing off the sidewalks and into the roads in some places because THAT many people can't afford a home.
    Also, for the insurance; the insurance companies will do every single dirty underhanded trick in the book to not have to pay your healthcare costs, from charging you a ridiculous amount anyways, not covering the majority of injuries, to outright REFUSING to pay you because they know you can't afford to sue them for it.

    I have two male friends that they aren't hot, they're just average. But they are charismatic and funny so they easily pick up the interest of women around them. Looks have nothing to do with it, it really is about confidence.

      @AutumnForest862 9 місяців тому +1

      Agreed! A self-confident person is more relaxed and casual, paying attention to everyone and everything, and all around just easier to deal with. Someone who is constantly "on alert" and worried, or overly-focused on only the prettiest girls, or imagined slights, or whatever, just wears me out and I lose interest, no matter how conventionally attractive they are!

    I would think that a homeowner who wanted shoes off would provide cheap house slippers for guests. Do you want them tracking foot sweat throughout your home? Not all shoes have good ventilation, especially leather shoes. Socks can be rather damp after a day of work. A couple of pairs of large house slippers for guests would spare the home from mud as well as sweat.

    17:18 A wedding is a special emotional ritual of love and joy between two people, a binding of families that is healthy and happy to perform.
    Spending more than a grand on a wedding, however, is wasteful and unnecessary. All that matters is cleanliness, happiness, legal officiality, and allowing family to come by. Maybe take some pics too.
    But overcharged venues, extremely expensive cakes, dresses, suits, decorations, and long, pointless, multi-hour speeches and ceremonies are a bit much. Bridezillas/Groomzillas and parents wanting too much to do with their child's wedding are a known issue and contributor to this. I want my wedding to be a casual, wholesome, outdoor activity in a place of great nature. Good Grilled Food, Trees for shade, Nature to dance through with my love, outdoor games, stories shared, memories made, these are what I think goes into a good wedding. And all of them don't cause environmental damage or cost extreme amounts of money.

    I have thought of the entertainment industry payscale. Many of them have a very limited time to do those jobs. The best athletes age, and eventually, they will be outclassed by younger athletes. Actors and models are also greatly affected by aging. They have to earn as much as they can as quickly as possible, that goes double if they actually are just a pretty face with mediocre skill. I do not begrudge these people their high pay. They are always under threat from younger competitors. Even skilled actors get passed over in favor of a younger, fresh face.

    14:00 OKOKOK!!!!! I do have to weight in here because I see no moral reason for veganism ... why is killing a carrot any more moral than killing a cow ?
    both are living beings in the end and in order to prolong your existence, you end theirs.
    Yes factory farming can be unnecessarily cruel and I am staunchly against animal cruelty!
    But the fact is that Plants are just a different form of life so Why do vegans see it as more moral to end the existence of a strawberry than ending the existence of a chicken?
    Hell, plants can communicate with each other and older trees often time link up roots with smaller trees and share nutrients. There are even albino plants that survive only because this is a thing (and they are not parasite, they serve as an immunity booster for the linked trees )

    • @viktorthykjr1966
      @viktorthykjr1966 9 місяців тому +3

      I see your point, but plant don't have pain receptors, or any brain, they also lack any brain, they are not as cute or moving as a cow.

    • @PeoplecallmeLucifer

      @@viktorthykjr1966 plants do have something similar to a neural system and CAN panic if for example are set on fire ... hell, some people even figured out how to have plants play music with the signals the emit.
      The only difference is that we can't see these signals while we can clearly see an animal in distress. so to claim one is more moral than the other comes off as hypocritical IMO

    • @shadowwolflycan6176
      @shadowwolflycan6176 9 місяців тому +1

      I agree with you on the topic of pain and perception of animals vs plants, but there is something to be said about the difference in cognitive ability. Plants do not have the same ability as animals, and neither do animals compared to humans. (The whole reason doing the deed with an animal is statutory rape). They ofc have their place as do all living things, but Its just not comparable.
      I also don’t see why vegans are placed on a moral high ground, especially when things that are considered “vegan” are actually really bad for the environment (pleather, almonds, etc) and it would actually be a lot better to use the animal products instead. And vice versa- animal products that would morally be alright to use but aren’t solely based on not being vegan (honey) assuming it’s farmed ethically ofc.
      I’ve noticed it’s been an issue of equating vegan to ethical/moral, rather than the simple status of being from animals or not. But that could just be more about marketing trying to win people over by appearing green than it is about actual vegans. Gluten free and keto being other things that companies have jumped on for brownie points. I can’t really fault the people for what companies are doing with their talking points.
      As for the actual vegans, I was told it wasn’t about the actual animal products being evil necessarily. It’s about choosing not to support businesses that comply with animal cruelty,and the easiest way to do that is by not buying any kind of animal product at all. (So as to not have to look into every single thing all the time). The problem with that I already went into (3rd paragraph), it became a black and white issue with some people not stopping to think further than that. They saw only the boycotting of all animal products as moral, rather than the (then) necessity of it due to such pervasive practices and not being sure of who did things ethically or not. I like to think the majority of vegans know this, and we’re just hearing from the ones that don’t. Gotta have some amount of faith ig.

      @@shadowwolflycan6176 I see your point about vegans being more 'Moral' and that some 'Vegan' foods are bad, but that is picking in the pile, almonds and pleather are just a few unsustainable foods, they aren't even completely vegan oriented, i myself am a meat eater, to a normal extent, but i see where vegans deserve some moral high ground, if they flaunt their veganity like a badge of honor then they have forgiven that right, but the self control to not eat meat deserves some respect, like quitting smoking or drugs. They dont deserve a pedestal, but they do deserve respect.

    I disagree with some of the specifics on the first post but I have to agree with the sentiment. I highly value personal freedom, and while America certainly isn't perfect in that regard, with some obvious exceptions (cough abortion cough), the US is almost certainly the best in that regard. It's easily taken for granted by Americans, but compared to other democracies, we have probably the highest freedom from bureaucracy. Furthermore, the states make it so that if you don't like how things are in one part of the country you can freely move to a different part with a better way of doing things without having to learn a different language.
