I'm a bit confused at 3:25, as the military vehicle appears to be carrying soldiers with Italian uniforms during a parade in Rome, showing an Italian licence plate (EI, meaning Esercito Italiano, Italian Army) and the Knights Of Malta's logo at the same time. Cool.
The SMOM, or better the Italian Association of Knights of Malta, has at his dependency the Armed Force EI-SMOM, a voluntary and auxilary corp of Italian Army for sanitary and humanitarian assistance. In 1999 the President of the Italian Republic granted them the Italian war flag for "the merits vested in time of war and peace". They serve the Italian Army in war and may intervene in public disasters or other exceptional cases. Only the volunteers with the so-called special role have obligations to the Italian Army.
Another interesting thing is that for a short time after World War 2, when Italy was subject to post-war arms limitations, the SMOM was leased a number of Italy's bomber aircraft that were awaiting classification by the enforcing powers (as to whether or not the plane would be considered subject to the limitation or not). So for a short while SMOM actually had an air force

+ExtremeCynic probably because a lot of those countries are either relatively new and/or are still in turbulence politically, if they become stable and their neighbours recognise them then I'm sure the UN will too.
