I can somehow see a story behind the Metal Sonic mod. Metal Sonic, a rogue robot of Dr. Eggman traveled to Soleanna to experience the sight of the Festival of the Sun until his creator decided to cause trouble by kidnapping its princess. Metal Sonic wants to know what it’s like to be a hero rather than making it his mission to outclass the real Sonic. As for Silver, he was approached by Mephiles in the future and was told that the blue robot is the Iblis Trigger and intends to destroy it since its history was told to Silver. Throughout his adventure, Metal Sonic formed a friendship with Princess Elise since he would speak of his history of how Eggman built him to copy the real Sonic. But she would bring out his free will and his ability to form a friendship with her. Seems like a nice story.
