@@cquilty1 Sorry what's not true as I don't know? a)That bowling was superb. b)Tufnell had one or two issues on and off the field, but played only 42 tests in 12 years. The majority of which he was the best spinner in the country with over 1000 1st class wickets. Various captains have mentioned Tufnell could be hard work, but does that say more about them than him? He was more like Underwood than you think, and if he'd played on uncovered wickets his wicket tally would have been even better.
@@cquilty1 I suggest you do some research if you think that's 💩! You tell me which English spinners took more international, first class and list A wickets, between 1990 & 2000.
Eng really underachieved in the 90s. They had players like Gooch and Smith in the early part of the 90s then for the whole of 90s they had Atherton, Stewart, Nasser, Thorpe, Gough, Caddick, Tufnell, Fraser, Butcher, Malcolm. Headley , Cork.

Very bad decision against Boon. The only thing it touched was his lower shoulder, not his bat or glove, nor Jack Russell. Also David Gower denies Tufnell a hat trick.
Bollocks. Listen to the snick as the ball passes the bat. Anyway, swings and roundabouts, Boon stood there at Melbourne when he hit the cover off it straight through to Russell.
tuffers you beauty!!
That was only his second test. Superb. With a bit better management just think what could/should have been over the next decade.
I always compare it to how Australia handled their talented young spin bowler with clear authority issues.
@andrew7440
C'mon now, that's not true and you know it. Tufnell was was no Underwood, Murali, Jadeja or Ashwin. And not much with the bat either!

Tuffers was a fine finger spinner. Got some crazy revs on the ball.

Atherton was not a good captain.
@@yacsem Totally agree. Worst England Captain last century. But he went to Cambridge....Only time we did well was when he was injured - WC '92.

Amazing catch by Gooch for the first wicket
