Like i said in the video, i don't watch the show and i did not know the actor who played Zach Dingle had passed away. I was not trying to make an inappropriate joke, i genuinely didn't know.
Back in the mid’70’s my sister used to work in the nearby waterworks’s in the laboratory where they tested the quality of the water both coming into the waterworks and the cleaned water that was sent on for human consumption. Sometimes she and her fellow workers would go to the Woolpack for a liquid lunch but if the tv company wanted to do some filming in the pub the real customers would be approached by a person from the film crew who would ask the customers how long they were planning on staying in the pub, if they were only there for lunch they were effectively asked to drink up and leave so their departure didn’t mess up the continuity of the background in their recording so that people who were sat at a table at the start of a scene didn’t disappear and reappear randomly. Since my sister and her colleagues knew that they had to return to work they always had to leave before the cameras were switched on, but legend has it that in return for staying in the pub as an unintended extra the production company would stand a few rounds for any inconvenience caused to the customers.
Was never called The Woolpack back in the day. If I remember it was called The Commercial. Also loved the annual cricket match between Emmerdale stars and Esholt. Have some great pics of stars long gone.
I live near Esholt, nice walk on the Leeds/Liverpool canal via the River Aire to the Woolpack🙂 never been inside only outside. I grew up watching Emmerdale at 7pm then Corrie after and Heartbeat on a Sunday night before School haha. The 90s were wild!
I love a jacket potato...it's one of my favourite dinners....has to have tots of butter though...some places don't put butter in them now...or usually just a stingy amount which annoys the crap out of me lol...x Cheese on first then the beans on top...so the cheese melts into the potato. When i make my own i always put Encona hot pepper sauce in my baked beans (Branston) to spice them up 😉. Village looked lovely...thanks Deano x...they could have put a drizzle of dressing on the salad...
Great video Deano I haven't watched it for years when I watched it the sugdens Amos was still there shows how long since I watched it thanks for the nostalgia 😊
What happened to Zak in Emmerdale? Steve had played Zak on the ITV soap for decades, but sadly he passed away last year. Zak had barely appeared on screen for several months prior to that, but his character has been spending time in Scotland with the other Dingles.15 Feb 2024
Hi deano hope your good. EMMERDALE COUNTRY. Like emmerdale interested to see if you see anyone. Great minds deano Eastenders my favourite soap. That looks pretty good . Enjoy and keep eyes peeled for Zak. Ann in Cumbria. 😊😊😊.
Bizarre what are you on about that in 1995 there wasn’t much options. Maybe in inbred territories but in places like Bradford and Leeds there were lots of options. Jacket Potato as a takeaway as there weren’t much options. Give it a rest.
I all ways think of the show as Emmerdale Farm, that was back in the day. As you said the food was basic, your Light Bite was as it said. But for the North, what a rip off!!! For me it only serves a 5 at best. When it comes it comes to beers, your choice was quite good, but you are a Guinness man and that seems to be the go to. Having tried it in Ireland the stuff they serve here is nothing exceptional. Always served too cold without any body. Three cask ales were on offer, Tetleys, Landlord and another. I know which I prefer.
It would have been a miracle if you'd have seen Zac Dingle in there. He passed away in real life December 15th 2023. Eastenders is the only soap i dont watch.
£8.50 for a jacket potato??? They sell them in Tesco for 50p! Sorry, I know this is purely and only personal opinion, but why go out anywhere for something like a jacket potato? I could never do that. Having said that, I do appreciate the limited menu and this vlog is more about the venue than the food. I do not watch Emmerdale, so I cannot comment on that.
Just a round up of experience the buddy, id rather not watch and listen to every crunch and slop of a mouthful. Just an idea as apart from that love the show.
Couldn't disagree more Deano.... compared to other food reviewers my opinion is ypu have the whole experience down to a T... You can please some of the people some of the time....etc....@JustDeano
Kim Tate (also Barker and Marchant) is a fictional character from the British soap opera Emmerdale, played by Claire King. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 12 December 1989. Kim is portrayed in the serial as an antagonist, who often concocts money making and vengeful schemes against other characters. During her first stint in the series, Kim's turbulent marriage to Frank Tate (Norman Bowler) was prominent. Writers also explored her difficult relationship with her stepchildren, Chris (Peter Amory) and Zoe Tate (Leah Bracknell). Kim's motive for her scheming was to gain control of the Tate family business; her marriage was problematic due to her affairs with Neil Kincaid (Brian Deacon) and Dave Glover (Ian Kelsey), the latter died after he saved Kim's son James Tate (Sam Silson) from a fire. Kim's other prominent stories include faking her own death to frame Frank before leaving him to die of a heart attack, and a business partnership with Lord Alex Oakwell (Rupam Maxwell), which culminates in the death of Linda Fowler (Tonicha Jeronimo). As revenge, Linda's mother Jan Glover (Roberta Kerr) kidnaps James. Writers created a relationship between Kim and Steve Marchant (Paul Opacic), a subsequent marriage and more money making scams. King decided to leave Emmerdale and Kim departed during the episode broadcast on 19 January 1999, when she escaped the village in a helicopter with James and £190,000 of Chris' money. King returned to the series in 2018 for a guest appearance before returning the following year permanently. Her return featured Kim being pushed off a balcony at Home Farm by Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter). Early in her second stint, storylines involving her mostly followed her relationship with Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) - who later turned out to be her husband; he was soon killed-off in a whodunit storyline. Later storylines saw her pursue a relationship with her employee Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), her feuds with daughter-in-law Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale), Will's daughter Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), her son Jamie (now played by Alexander Lincoln) and Jamie's ex-lover Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham). Critics of the genre have praised Kim and she has often been branded as "the ultimate soap bitch".
Like i said in the video, i don't watch the show and i did not know the actor who played Zach Dingle had passed away. I was not trying to make an inappropriate joke, i genuinely didn't know.

Lovely pub and village we went there a few years ago and sat out front enjoying the peace and quiet
Really nice
Cor, I used to work in Shipley a lot and was always over at Steeton & Silsden or Saltaire - never realised it was that close !
The Tune is ringing in my head now Deano. Then again I always watched Neighbours on the other channel. For me it will always be Joe Sugden, superb.
Everybody needs good neighbours 😂
E by gum. Amos Brearley and Mr Wilks. Annie Sugden spent most of her time in the kitchen at the farm.
I like watching old programmes on UA-cam.
Once i start with the classics on YT i can't stop 😂
Deano you NEED to try a hunter chicken toastie from Aldi

Ohhh so they didn't kill his character off when the actor passed? Wonder if he will have an off screen death or he will be re-cast
@@JustDeano
His daughter, belle dingle mentions his name every now and again ,
The way the storylines are going. I don’t think he will be recast.
The houses looked massive on the telly that I remember when I was younger. They don't look so big in "real life"
I bet they are even smaller inside too
Loved Emmerdale, nice review Deano, go well X
Thank you Monique
Used to watch it a bit back in day. Inside the woolie seems different to what i recall, guessing theyve had a change around or whatever

I'll certainly give it a go next time i'm in Manchester and pop it in one of my videos
