I hate when sequels "reset" the characters and they lose all adversity they experienced in the first movie.
Who wouldn’t, eh? 😊
It's so lazy
GOD I hate when they do that.
Do you mean when they turn the character back into a child? Because I also hate that and it happens far too often.
@@kieranstark7213 Eeh... any good writter?
I bet brad bird had a gun held to his head as he directed this movie
He didn't want a sequel so he probably felt forced to make this
Lmao
Exactly. if Brad wanted to do it. he would've had the passion, and could've really put some effort into it! but he didn't give two fucks, so he couldn't give the film the quality it deserved.
and also theres the fact he's probably shit at doing sequels due to well... he's never cared for sequels. he's a one-time story guy...
He literally said he had a sequel in mind for years
lmfao fuck off, Brad Bird is an adult, he is one of the most famous directors working rn and most beloved, the studio can't force him to do anything, if he made a film it's because he wanted to make a film and this one just turned out bad
If you think about it the endings was great in the first flim.
How to fail a sequel:
Step one: Reset everything back to square one with the heros set worst off than before just so they can do it again.
Seriously, every bad sequel does this.
Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2 had the same problem, among their other issues. Heck, nearly ALL of Disney or Pixar's sequels have this problem.
Thunderbird 1 with frozen 2 I could see what they were trying to do, however with toy story 4 it was pretty much unnecessary.
@@thunderbird1921 so true! I was so disappointed with Toy Story 4 and apparently the voice actor of Buzz cried about the ending, so I was expecting a really emotional ending like the last three films, but everything was so disappointing from the beginning to end. I'm just grateful I did enjoy some bits.
@@celestfinity3770 I HATED TS4. It completely destroyed Buzz's character development, made Woody a joke, made Bo a MASSIVE jerk and weakened Jessie for the sake of making Bo and Dolly look "strong". What a slap in the face to these characters (especially Buzz and Jessie). I refuse to consider that ending canon.
@@thunderbird1921 I felt that Bo was apparently woman superiority or something like that, but I felt like it was shoved in my throat by force. I really loved Bo because the little scenes she was in was enough for me to like her. Every character development just disappeared and we went back to Buzz acting like the first movie maybe even worse, Jessie insecure just like the second movie and every character i loved just vanished. Heck! None of the original characters were memorable in the TS4
This movie was too late. *_15 years too late..._*
Levi R. Ha
It wasn’t even 15 years!! They changed it last second to come out a year early so they can work more on toy story 4! So it was 14 years and they ruined a wonderful joke.

If the sequel is really good (not this one), it's OK to wait for,a couple of years.
"Your childhood is a commodity". This is so true man.
As if it wasn't in the beginning?
how depressing. thankyou Disney.
Pixar is becoming full disney by relasing sequel after sequel
Because it's true.
The question is, is Pixar being forced into doing so? If Pixar was given full creative freedom would they maker new and better content?
Not gonna lie, after i watched the incredibles 2 movie. The next day i forgot what happened in the movie.

Funny. When I went to see this in theaters I hadn't rewatched the first movie in years, and right from the getgo I had issues with this movie. One of the big ones being that super heroes were illegal again. I was like "I thought that was dealt with in the first movie."
Dave Lee Down Under went as far as to call Incredibles 2 a “PERFECT SEQUEL” so he could rate it higher than another Brad Bird film that he should’ve praised a LOT more (Ratatouille) which is why one of the video’s top comments is about Ratatouille being a very underrated movie (while people look for much more good things to say about Incredibles 2 instead).
But you know, outside of that minor (I say “minor” because to give Dave Lee’s opinion on Ratatouille credit where credit is due, at least he went sort of easy on it, I guess) dick move, I highly appreciate the rest of the list (but if it were updated to the 2020s, another Pixar film that deserves to be ranked low on the list, (nearly up to the ranks of Cars 2, in fact,) would have to be Toy Story 4.

m.ua-cam.com/video/MpszkettjAY/v-deo.html It ends with a salutation to Lego Incredibles.
I liked the movie, but I will not deny the flaws in the plot. My biggest gripe was the weak villain's motivations and plan. The first one will always be better IMO.
The dad should also have probably had a phone in the panic room he was supposed to be going to, rather than calling immediately and hoping some supers would get there before he got murdered. She should be blaming a lack of forethought and reasoning on the part of her dad rather than superheroes.
She ended up being just as backwards in her results as her dad though seeing as she made the heroes look great by constantly making threats for them to squash, I think it would have been much more interesting as a plot twist that screenslaver was still the sister but rather than being evil and vengeful it was literally all for the sake of advertising. She just wanted the venture to get some good opening PR, i'm not sure how the fuck it would get resolved in an interesting way but chuck in some good bits about public opinion and how it affects stuff and you'd at least have something still probably not great but potentially better than what we got.
@@not_cicero Imagine if supers didn't exist. Wluld you think Evelyn would try to go against the police force because her dad was a huge dumbass who wanted to call the authorities than go into the panic room? Why didn't he put the phones in the panic room?

Thank you SO MUCH for talking about how they did Elastagirl dirty. Her main character trait was she was the power house keeping everyone together. She gave up being a superhero so she could focus on her family. In this movie she just leaves?
Also isn't "HAHAHA MEN DON'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A HOUSE!!" just... I dunno, dated and not funny?
IKR not to mention sexist against men?
But I thought the idea of that is that Bob doesn’t have much experience as a stay at home parent as he was usually the one who was always out working or doing other stuff. I don’t think they were trying to make a sexist joke but your opinion
@@bengilhooly3616 that’s exactly what it was it was development for Bob not knowing how to be a family man compared to always being incredible by himself that’s the dynamic they focused in however everyone here interprets that as a reset of characters when their only wanting to see what they want to instead of what the directors are going for I just watched it again and I see the direction and enjoyed it
@@camdoesitall Here's the thing, the 1st film's own montage shows Bob alone with Dash. The first film already implied that he knew how to take care of his own kids before the second. Y'all just take what's shown in the second film as a given without ever going back to the first.
@@bengilhooly3616Like I told the other guy, not the case when the previous film, even if it is for a brief moment, during the montage, shows Bob alone with Dash, that already implies that he CAN take care of his kids on his own, whether or not y'all personally think that was or wasn't enough to be such an implication, that's a personal issue, but not something that can justify what the second film has done to Bob's character. And yeah, whether y'all like it or not, majority of people here are in agreement that we're tired of seeing this trope of the father being incompetent at taking care of his own children, regardless if it's played for laughs or is of a serious tone, and regardless of the "in story" reasons y'all could try to pull from in order to explain this , "in universe". 200 thumbs up, that ain't a small number.
I think incredibles 2 should have been a time jump
No doubt, a time jump could show huge changes in the world and characters and would definitely lend itself into a great and original story.
I agreeeee! And it's so obvious that they chose to pick up right at the end of the last movie so that they could (a) show the Underminer fight which fans have wanted to see for years, and (b) capitalise on Jack Jack's cuteness and his shenanigans. A movie where the characters are older and living in a world where superheros are legal would have been way better.
You mean a time skip?
Yeah it's been 14 years my hopes where high then I saw the trailers and saw that no time has passed despite the fact that I got older I got pissed and didn't see it because I'm cheap I'll probably watch it on Netflix through.
Oh yeah it would have been perfect toy story got a time jump how come incredibles couldn't get one
When I saw The Incredibles 2, I Thought It was Okay, But Disappointing, I saw the villain coming from mile off.
WhiteKitsu the villain was revealed before the film came out. Evelyn Devor = Evil endeavor

*Incredibles 2 score*
Animation: 5.5 (Great... maybe even too much so that it actually gives the animation shortcomings, like, because it’s made by 2010s Pixar, it’s more focused on boasting what they could do with the technology of today’s CGI in many ways like how incredibly detailed the rendering of the movie is to the point where it just gets annoying because of how fresh it is compared to the movie itself)
Story: 0.5 (Unbearable)
Characters: 2.5 (Terrible... though I did like Frozone and Edna Mode for feeling more like the original The Incredibles than everything else in the movie)

I only watched it because I haven't seen a Pixar movie in theaters for a while
Honestly I liked it. But this guy is entirely right. It wasn't memorable like the first one. And it's the reality of the first one that made me like it and I always felt a little separated from this one. The family wasn't really real, which made it not really memorable. I'm upset to say that he's entirely right about the negative review. Definitely earned most grossing film of all time though, because the first was good enough to warrant everyone on the planet running blindly into the trap.

@ Yes, in fact the pulled the release date a year forward just so they could do this. If it was giving another year, the story probably would have been significantly better. It's really annoying that NitPix has never addressed this in his video.
@@CoWinkKeyDinkInc source?
You hit EXACTLY the feelings and problems throughout this unorganized mess of a sequel. The twist was completely cheap, unearned, and overall predictable, unlike the first movie. Every character not only felt off to me, but just completely pointless (that except Elastic girl who was suddenly the most important character). Instead of the dynamic family we saw overcoming challenges in the first movie, we get whatever the hell the second was, which just made me sad, because I saw this coming a mile away, as much as I didn't want to.
Incredibles 2 is just another animated flick. Also the writers had NO idea for Jack Jack's powers
I think they made Jak Jak's powers change a lot because babies are unpredictable and hard to control at times, so that trait may apply to his powers.
Good point, I can't think of a username.
I always thought the underminer was a joke because he undermined their victory but I don’t know now
pretty sure he was yeah, or some kind of representation of the arguing and sadness that the family fought their way through amongst themselves? he's at war with peace and happiness after all. Or both. Or nothing. But regardless of intended meaning it was funny, quirky and fitting within the established universe.
underminer is a joke villain
the line about peace and happiness was a joke line to build him up as a over the top villain for the parr family to beat up
complaining about him robbing a bank is a (gasp) nitpick. it’s not like robbing a bank doesn’t destroy peace and happiness. he blows up a bunch of buildings too. honestly just a really lousy complaint. i have no idea what nitpix expected from this villain.
I prefer video game Underminer instead of Incredibles 2 Underminer
@@uhoh6706 now there's a man to be reckoned with
The fact that they used this joke villain that was supposed to show the family unit was complete and ready to kick ass at the end of the first film, as an actual villain is embarrassing. When I saw that no time had passed, I knew the sequel would be shit. They couldn't write the characters as older, with new problems, or they just couldn't be bothered trying. Either way that's Hollywood these days.

@@esclavodelsistema9783 Mr. Incredible was a character everyone was introduced to......
Incredibles 2 had some seriously impressive action/ fight choreography. And thats about it.
Yet as great as the fight choreography is (at least during the sequence where Elastigirl tries to stop a train), nothing can top the original.
The grown ups in the sequel are pathetic. It'd be better if they just make the kids as main characters.
Not gonna lie, I was kind of bored while watching the movie and I left feeling underwhelmed. Like this is what I waited over a decade for?
I know right? I had the exact same feeling
Same. Can't believe I let myself get hyped up for it. I rarely like to do it because I know it will leave me disappointed... I was let down the minute they started rehashing the same plot, except with less beautiful exotic island scenery, exciting action scenes, touching character development.
Pretty much the same as the first movie but everything is predictable, the action is locked into generic cityscapes and cramped hallways, soundtrack is mellowed down so it barely has any of the character and OOMPH it had in the first, it's just like they took the same movie and desaturated half the reason it was enjoyable. Only things they kept were that family dynamic humour, also the textures and animation were smoother, which was nice. But otherwise, a bit of a letdown.
My recommendation to alleviate that feeling of disappointment and boredom is to go and watch Into The Spider-Verse. It was phenomenal, I'm still in shock that it came out of the same place that made The Emoji Movie.
@@basedbattledroid3507 the thing is did you notice a lot of similar things to the first movie?
Yep. And what makes it worse is that the marketing and even the clip at the beginning of the movie with all the actors in it kept touting that, "You've waited fifteen years for this--enjoy!"
Fifteen years for a straight superhero film as a sequel to something that mocked superhero movies--hell, the thing that finally pushed me over the edge was that Evelyn *started monologuing* when she had Elastigirl on a platter and she wouldn't shut up about how inevitable her defeat was, how feeble superheroes were compared to her, how the world would get back on its feet...
...I was like, "Wait, is this a joke? Evelyn's kidding, right? She'll snark about how she had that speech prepared beforehand and ask Helen how she liked it, right?"
@@eatatjoes6751 What I hated about Evelyn was that she barely did anything at all as the villain and her capturing elasticgirl was boring because all she did was talk. There was so much potential for this movie but bird didn't even use the natural elements to a pixar movie
What killed this movie for me was how the family seems to have forgotten that Jack-Jack has powers and how it was treated as a major revelation. There's no way they didn't see him very clearly wailing on Syndrome!
My idea for the movie was a lot different. Because of the gap between it and the original, I thought about aging the characters up between that gap. Violet would be married and possibly expecting her first child, Dash would be up in college (and absolutely loving it), and Jack-Jack would be in Middle School and the overall plot of it would be centered on Bob and Helen coming to grips with the fact that the nest is emptying especially with the fact that they're going to be grandparents.
And to be honest, I thought it had been settled at the end of the first movie that supers were legal again. And I too thought the Parrs saw Jack Jack's powers in the first movie.
They didn't see Jack-Jack's powers, because he and Syndrome were too far away. They could only tell that Syndrome was having some difficulties during his flight to his ship.
But yeah, I agree, the ending of the first film implied that supers would eventually become legal again. Why make a whole movie about it and have the events of the first film have no influence on that decision whatsoever?
@@TiagoMonteiroArt no they all saw Syndrome and Jack Jack well enough! So much so that Mr Incredible was able to throw Elastic Girl up to precisely the point in the sky where Jack Jack had fallen to make the perfect catch.

Violet's arc in the 1st movie was great. Then comes the 2nd movie and reset the whole thing. Jeez.
How was it reset?
@@justinstewart9145 in the 1st movie, Violet was shy and awkward around her crush (forgot his name). At the end of the movie, she got her self confidence and was cool about the guy asking her out. Then the 2nd movie came and that confidence of hers suddenly disappeared. Why was she shy and awkward around the guy when in the 1st movie, she was cool and calm? The animation is gorgeous though
One of the reasons why the siblings in the original were so well received was because they were played smart. Initially, we're led to believe Dash will be the focus so when the plane scene comes around, we're left shocked to see Violet's getting the spotlight. And then their bond is allowed to mature through the jungle chase scene.
In this movie, Violet's getting the focus solely on her with Dash being completely pointless. Maybe if Violet's arc was at least somehow interesting to watch... but it's just teen angst.
@@virusINJUSTICE Violet has had self confidence in the second movie. What she was frustrated about, was the fact that after gaining so much courage to finally talk to a boy, he ignores her. Then she becomes even more devastated, when she find out about the memory wiping. Violet's also shown to mature in the sequel, when she uses her shield to protect everyone on the boat at the end. That's character development.

Yeah to see elastic girl still THICC jk
GrumpySenpai I believe everyone was thinking that was gonna happen
GrumpySenpai because that makes sense and would work as a tcontinuation of the underlying themes...
I didn't care for Incredibles 2, either. For a sequel that came out 14 years after its predecessor. It was shockingly underwhelming.
I'll never understand why they didn't age up the characters. It would've been so cool to see Violet going to college, Dash in high school, and Jack Jack in elementary/ middle school? (don't know how old he is) and it could've been about the parents trying to adjust with their kids growing up/becoming independent or something
Which is why Incredibles 3, at that rate, sounds like a better idea than ever (or so we originally though as much of a great idea as before the trailers for Incredibles 2 were revealed).
Incredibles 2 starts with the team & Frozone trying to stop a large unstoppable machine. The movie ends with the team & Frozone trying to stop an unstoppable machinr
I cannot express how dissapointing this film was, but definitely the thing I found the most rediculous was the fact that the whole universe forgot that a literal genocide had taken place in the first movie. Like lmao! Ok! Guess we'll just ignore all those dead superheroes. I don't even know if there was a single reference. Wouldn't they be getting emotional seeing all the new-age supers, and realizing that they've lost essentially all of their old friends? Like explained in the video, there was generally just a ton of stuff (plot, character development, setting, etc) that was incredibly important to the original that was very much ignored in the second. I do not believe that this was the movie Brad originally planned on making, and that it was possibly altered by Pixar or Disney's agenda (especially when it comes to marketing and toys). At least, I hope so. You can see glimmers of a better movie within some of the scenes and storyboards that were cut, at least.
There's a cut scene about the heroes that died. You can find it on UA-cam.
You really should watch all the cut scenes, they're all good.
It'll take you about 40 minute.
There was a cut scene of Mr. Incredible giving a eulogy for the dead supers and it is amazing.
The way you spelled ‘ridiculous’ was a little ridiculous... sorry to be that guy
I agree!!!! I was waiting for Bob or Helen to talk about how the heroes the old guy went to call during the home invasion were killed by Syndrome in the first movie! Like, they couldn't help because they were dead...
This movie was PAINFULLY average. Also Craig T Nelson has lost his touch significantly.
He’s really old, yo. It’s kinda sad the sequel didn’t happen much sooner.
m.ua-cam.com/video/u7pqj6Oy6bs/v-deo.html
What is his role
I mean he's already in his 70s voicing this I don't blame him lost his touch it's been like over a decade since he last did the character.
A good waste of 2 hours and 5 minutes. Screen Slaver/Evelyn is a copy paste of any Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain (who the first movie tongue-in-cheek mocks). I'm sure she had actual lines, but all I heard was "Waaaaah waaaaaah. A loved one of mine was tangentially killed by superheroes, so I will naturally hate ALL superheroes, and manufacture situations where only superheroes could do anything. Also, some shit about game shows. Waaaaah." To be fair, Syndrome wasn't any less of a crybaby, and his origin seems like you've seen it before (although, in my travels, I haven't encountered a comic character with an origin like his yet. But, I'm sure they're out there.) But, Syndrome had a charisma and a presence about him. Which is impressive considering he looks like a thumb.
The best parts of the movie were easily the parts where Bob is raising the kids. Scenes like "I don't KNOW that way" and the dealing with Violet's break-up(? Even though I was annoyed with Violet acting like old Violet again). Incredibles should feel like a family drama/comedy story first and a superhero movie second. It was too straight-forward, with very little of the superheroing paralleling real life, mundane stuff. Like Helen thinking Bob is cheating because he's off doing superhero stuff. If anything, the superhero parts hurt this movie by making it a "I Can't Believe It's NOT Marvel" story.
I would like to actually meet these people who think Incredibles 2 > Incredibles. They must've been blackout drunk when they watched the first one.
Syndrome had at least a deeper desire to let people's obsessions with supers destroy supers completely, and not with a big world destructive ray or anything, but simple captilism and over saturation.
You're right, Syndrome's motivation isn't any more compelling but he is charasmatic therefore it's okay and the movie is therefore better. Good argument. Qualify your opinion better.
Incredibles 2 juices nostalgia especially with scenes of Jack Jack. I thought this sequal was more of a cash grab than a movie worth remembering.
Ur not wrong
And it worked too
Is it really a cash grab if people have been demanding for it though. Or unless the definition of cash grab has changed
@@uhoh6706 It is a cash grab because minimal effort was put on the script, which you can tell because everything's about is is rushed. They just knew incre 2 would sell BECAUSE fans asked for it.

me and my family liked it better than the first but that's my opinion
I feel like the only reason they made Elastigirl the main hero in this movie was because her powers allowed them more freedom for creative and visually stunning set pieces that Mr Incredible's powers could not.
@@mrbubbles6468 Haha planning... well let's see then. In the Elastigirl set piece I mentioned, she uses her arms to casually swing through the city like Spiderman, which would require incredible arm strength to do. She also demonstrates this strength when using just her legs to pull the other half of her motorbike to her. Yet when she is trying to catch a simple pizza boy, she is tossing and turning as if it were an even match. The pizza boy even breaks free from here grasp at one point... how could she swing through the city with here own hands if she cant even hold on to a pizza boy. This doesnt show planning, this just shows that they had a few set pieces in mind and also had a few beats to hit in order for it to be a super hero movie, so they just tossed these scenes in for the sake of filling a formula without actually thinking about it.
I'll be honest with you. I watched this movie purely for jack jack. I wasn't expecting much from the story itself (though I hoped that I would be mistaken), because I had realized that it would be a poor version of the first one. So on that note I wasn't disappointed: I went without any expectations, so my expectations were never betrayed.
And jack jack was super cute and awesome and his powers were incredible.

Toy story 4 didn't need to happen, toy story 3 had a conclusion that was satisfying and felt finished. Toy story 4 is going to be a main character pointlessly dieing just because they wanna be sad and a bunch of padding. I want Pixar to prove me wrong but I doubt it
Tell them! I personally have a few reasons why I don't want TS4 but I've got a feeling that manipulation of the audience's emotions is something that will happen.
@@DeepFriedSpagehetti-rq7iu they could've done that in a short though that's the thing
Toy Story is just gonna fall under the Franchise Zombie trope like Shrek, Ice Age, Hotel Transylvania and The Land Before Time.
Brad Bird said they would NOT make a sequel unless they had a good story to tell..... And then the sequel is just the first one all over again only Helen and Bob's roles are reversed, the villain is weaker, the characters are more static, and the plot of the first one is completely disregarded because supers become illegal AGAIN... I was disappointed. My expectations for this movie were very high because of what Brad Bird said. I like Monster's University more than this POS movie xD
My same opinion exactly. Of all the things they've could've gone with the story, they chose the least interesting and most cliche route. The end of the first film allowed for a sequel, but was still a blank slate. They could've have done anything, and we got mediocrity. I also agree with you about Monster's University, because at least that film knew to have new themes, new character arcs, and not repeat the the first movie's plot. It's such a shame that Incredibles 2 is so bland and average
The Kyle Flies They're waited too long to make this movie. They've should've released this like 4-5 years after the first movie came out.

The first movie took place in the 60s
The new supers that got mind controlled are clearly mary sue characters
I've been waiting so long for someone to finally say it. No, it's not just lesser than the sequel, it's a middling to bad movie on its own. It's very clear that they had a different story in mind, one about reality TV and the commodification of Hero/Villain dynamics, but they just couldn't quite get it right so they decided to scrap it. Then Disney said, "No, you're doing a sequel," so they just recycled the plot of the last movie.
If you're interested in speculating on what the original version would've been, there are a few deleted scenes for this movie (hand-drawn, never fully animated) that are available on UA-cam. You've got one scene where a half-snake guy is auditioning to be a hero and is so desperate to not be perceived as a freak that he ends up attacking Winston, and you've got another scene showing how Elastagirl is too efficient at fighting petty crime, which sets up the need for a character like Screenslaver. It seems to me like they were setting up a story where Winston was one of the antagonists and it would be a meta-commentary on superhero films and the exploitation of sterotypes by the media.
This plot would’ve been a much better story.
There's also a eulogy held for all the heroes killed by Syndrome and that was the best deleted scene for me. It had that adult maturity that the first film did and was poignant and respectful. Too bad they didn't include.
I mean not all the deleted scenes worked. Like Dash and Violet stopping a petty crime at the restaurant. I don't like the implication that Violet had to strip down to her birthday suit for her invisibility to be seamless and then, it gets a bit too ridiculous that the scene would get that crazy (Dash even stops a runaway car on his own) yet the kids still return back to normal by the time Bob finishes changing Jack Jack's diaper.
YMS already did this. You're slow.
@@frogglen6350 How dare more than one person cover a Pixar sequel! Only the first one counts! Oh please.
@WillFanofMany The only difference is that what they came up with instead is utter shit while Zootopia's current plot is still creative and fun to watch.
It's basically the same friggin story, can't believe this took 14 years to make. Should've just make it into direct-to-dvd instead.
Least Underminer still there hinting of a 3rd possibly better sequel
ding dong your opinion is wrong, and have you even seen any of the direct to dvd sequels?
Fun Fact: This movie did not take 14 years to make. It had about 2 years of development.
So, one of my biggest gripes with the movie was the twist reveal for Evelyn. Her goals and reasoning are messed up. What did she want? To make supers illegal. Why did she want this? Because her father put trust in supers and it got both him and his wife murdered.
1) Supers were already illegal at the start of the movie. The finale against the giant robot didn't automatically make them legal, and the opening sequence with the Underminer only set them back.
2) The backstory with the father calling the supers for help during a break in is stupid. By that time, supers were already illegal and he would know that. Plus, even if they weren't, there's no way they'd be able to get there in time. God knows how far away they could be from the house. Not to mention, Evelyn is blaming supers for something her father did.
Alright, let's fix this. And we can do it with only a few tweaks to the story.
Firstly, let's change Winston and Evelyn from siblings to a married couple. This will make sense later.
Secondly, have the entire Incredible family included in the hero scene. There could be a montage of them taking on small crimes, maybe have them work alongside the authorities to show that they're cooperative. We can even have them team up with the new supers to help with publicity. This way the characters all have something to do during the film instead of 3/4 them mostly just sitting around.
Thirdly, have like two to three action set pieces where the Incredible family comes together to stop some city wide threat. The screenslaver is also one of the villains and claims he orchestrated the other disasters.
Fourthly, there are going to be a few scenes where one of the Incredibles overhears Winston and Evelyn talking about someone. That this person isn't ready to be seen by the public.
And finally, the twist reveal. However, it plays out a little differently. Helen still pieces together that the screenslaver was a bogus villain and Evelyn subdues her. But now, both Evelyn and Winston are working together. She reveals that all of the incidents were staged and that the villains they arrested were actually actors they hired. Helen asks why go to such lengths and Evelyn calls for someone to step forward. It's a little girl, no older than five, and she has purple skin, horns and a tail. Evelyn reveals that everything was for her's and Winston's daughter. She wants a world where her daughter can play with other children out in the open and not be hidden away. Evelyn asks what Helen would do for her children, what she would do if it was her child? Helen's at a loss for words. She agrees with what Evelyn is trying to accomplish but not her methods. Should she remain silent and let everything unfold, or should she speak out and stop the Deavors? It all leaves a nasty taste in her mouth.
And that's all I really got for now. Couldn't think of a climax to this. Maybe someone else has an idea?
Xanegoh instead of a Sequel Movie I would make a sequel series since that way there will be much more room to develop the characters

NitPix, you're out here doing the lord's work. I didn't love the first Incredibles movie because of flashy superpowers. I didn't love the first Incredibles movie because of Jack Jack doing a fart. I didn't even love the first Incredibles movie because of Edna Mode being funny. I loved the first Incredibles because of its vision of a superhero world that simultaneously parodied/commented on comic-books and also felt extremely realistic and down-to-earth. I loved the first Incredibles movie because the film wasn't flashy - things weren't driven by spectacle or humor or crowd-pleasing, they were driven by characters. I loved the first Incredibles movie because those characters felt like real, mature, extremely dimensional people - not like Saturday Morning Cartoon heroes. Incredibles 2's characters don't just feel like they're from a Saturday Morning Cartoon - the entire movie itself feels like a cartoon. It's so disappointing to see such an interesting universe regressed to a story this simplistic and by-the-books. The first movie wasn't necessarily a film made just for adults, but it sure wasn't made just for kids either. The sequel definitely was.
For the record, gargoyles was a Saturday morning cartoon and it had fleshed out and complex characters.

Watching the review, I see that I haven't retained anything about it at all.
I know i am late for this, but i think that Incridibles 2 should have been a story centered around Violet and Dash. The first Incredibles focused more on the parents relationships, it would make more sense to me storywise that the second story would be about the kids. Kinda like a coming of age story.
Edit: wow thanks guys. If anyone is interested, I have a video in my channel about this. Its not that good, but its my thoughts on this movie.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing too like the government wants to disect the kids because they're "dangerous" and the parents are getting older and are worried about if they can protect their kids. What are the consequences if they keep fighting crime. The kids are captured, Jack Jack saves them with incredibly funny fight scenes etc. The kids realize they can fight crime and be treated like normal people. @@DuncanWanyoike That's fine, I liked it too. But I do agree it is a bad sequel.
Yup, especially now that superhero movies are at a peak. When the first Incredibles movie came out, Batman Begins and Iron Man 1 wasn't even released yet. Essentially, Incredibles was the first big hit after a long hiatus of superhero movies (well Blade was a comic book character, but not the traditional "superhero" archetype, so it's more like a graphic novel).

I don't really like the baby character. I think it might have been an interesting dynamic of they had a child that didn't have any powers and have him be a little older in the sequel. They could have made some sort of message that you don't need to have superpowers to be a hero. Instead they just gave the baby all the powers.
Another reason why op side characters should never be relatable! Unless that's the message like one punch man!

Anyone else find it weird how they just kind of skip over the time gap thing in terms of technology. Then in the second film they just have modern technology with no explanation or reference. Just struck me as really...weird and lazy.
The first movie had a combination of both. Do you seriously think the car mr. Incredible drove in the first movie actually existed in the 60's? The only aesthetically looked like something from the 60's but had technology from old spy movies mixed with modern technology.
I've always thought it was peculiar the family had that giant flat screen television in the living room despite it being a psuedo-1960s era.

I came out of the movie feeling unsatisfied, but not entirely understanding why, but you explained my issues with the movie perfectly. Upon watching it a second time I would venture to say that it is a fun movie overall. The main flaw lies in that it is a sequel. If it had been a new superhero movie with original characters, I may have enjoyed it more. However, the first movie is just so flawless that the sequel feels disconnected from the ideas of its predecessor. The sequel is pretty to look at, but that's basically its whole identity: pretty. It lacks the substance and social commentary that the first conveys so eloquently and instead becomes a superfluous money grab, which is just so disappointing.
no its not the fact that its a sequel which is why it sucks its that it was released 10+ years later when the original viewers have grown up
Sequels can be good, even better than the original. There can never be a perfect movie, it can be close but there will always be something wrong with it in some way or another. But a perfect sequel can exist, as it has only a set amount of things to accomplish. It just so happens most sequels are made for money, not from passion.
@@JG_Wentworth I agree that there can be amazing sequels, but they are few and far between. This movie in particular just fails to meet so many expectations established by the first movie unfortunately. I feel like I just keep getting my hopes up with all of these recent Disney sequels, excited to return to some especially well-crafted worlds, but they keep disappointing me. Maybe I should just have lower expectations, who knows
@@cassie6645 Some of the major stipulations for a perfect sequel is that it needs to expand on the previous movie in a meaningful way, it needs to have a message relating to the previous movie, it needs to make sense within the universe, and it needs to accurately represent the characters from the previous movie with or without a time gap between the two films. This movie did none of those things, in fact it did the exact opposite of most if not all of those things.
You do not need to lower your expectations if your expectations are the bare minimum of a decent script, which these kinds of movies can't even fucking achieve. Doesn't matter how much money the movie gets thrown at it, if it can't achieve the bare minimum of *sub decent* writing, something major is wrong.
I think the “make superheroes legal again” plot could’ve made for a great sequel, if they had actually given it some thought and done it properly.
I mean the first movie never actually resolved that. And I’m sure that there would’ve have been plenty of people against the idea despite them saving the city. I think it would’ve been interesting to see the family helping people, while the police are trying to arrest them and maybe some people and the government blaming them for destruction caused in their battles. Maybe even have some blaming the Incredibles for the villains even existing, while others who think that super villains would always exist and they clearly don’t care about the law, defending the heroes. And then with all this going on maybe the Incredibles could question whether saving people is worth it if all their going to do is yell at you blame you for their life being in danger in the first place. They could even still have the other heroes, inspired by the Incredibles, they could help remind the Incredibles what it means to be a hero. It might even be better if one of them didn’t even have powers, IDK.
They could’ve also focused on what happens after heroes are made legal again. There are some pretty interesting directions they could’ve take that too.
I think basically what I’m saying is that the plot to make super heroes legal again might’ve work better if they focused on the political and societal aspect and less on the family drama and flashy fight scenes.
This is an especially ripe idea when syndrome was in part mr. incredible's fault since he pushed him away to the point of being resentful of supers, especially his idol. THANK YOU!!! Finally, I find someone who gets it! Why I hated this movie.
I hated this movie because of sjw agenda
Female empowerment is amazing on its own merits because everyone in the world deserves empowerment (not just of themselves, but also of other people) and equal rights, but it’s distractingly annoying how Modern Disney does it!
Does this happen because the director/writer doesn't give a damn or because the studio forces the movie to be finished quickly because they don't give a damn?
Gustav1990 most likely the studio, studios never care about the quality of the film
@@ceoofbananas2002 Definitely. I'm sure brad bird really wanted to make a sequel if it was good enough. He never found a good enough idea and Disney got impatient especially after it became well known people wanted Inc 2. I think he tried his best with what I assumed was a lot of pressure to make this when he didn't want to.
I'm sure there's plenty of talent at Pixar who would have helped him come up with a half decent idea.
Well pixar is a studio that respects story so they did they can
@Aldrich Leblanc maybe do you know
WAIT WAIT WAIT HOLD UP THE SECOND? Toy Story 3 was a great film and it basically wrapped up the series...... until toy story 4
No, toy story 3 was a reskin of toy story 2 that got away with it because of M U H N O S T E L G I A A A
@@murciadoxial8056 That is kinda true but the 3rd movie better explored the theme of a kid outgrowing their toys. The 2nd movie ends with Woody basically deciding that he wants to be there for Andy even though he knows Andy will eventually outgrow him one day. The 3rd movie ends with Andy, having outgrown the toys, passing them onto the next generation and the toys being at peace with his decision. So, while the 3rd had a similar story structure to the 2nd, Andy giving up his toys at the end of the 3rd made that movie feel final. Like all the characters had moved on and there was no more story left to tell. Because of that, it didn't feel as much of a capitalising on M U H N O S T E L G I A A A as the 4th one does (or at least it doesn't to me). Toy Story 3 was a cash grab that was also a beautiful end to a beloved franchise. Toy Story 4 is just a cash grab.
@@knucklescapricorn31 now i agree with you but i would not call it a cash grab but more of a took things from toy story 2 and enhanced them with toy story 3 when the day finally came when Andy leave's them. both are great sequels but i worry toy story 4 will not be very good because the story already was finished
@@thehatohyeahyeah5141 That's fair enough. I generally see all sequels as cash grabs because studios usually make them just to make money and not because they have more story to tell. Studios seem to prefer to re-hash known IPs that are guaranteed to make them money than try to invest in new IPs (this is pretty evident with Disney and how they are doing live-action re-makes of old stories instead of creating new stories). But you are right, Toy Story 3 was great and an improvement on Toy Story 2.
Jesus man, the first Incredibles is so fucking good. So ahead of its time
Agree 100%
Finally forced myself to watch Incredibles 2. Realized about 20 minutes in that they were literally making the exact same movie a second time, with all the same story beats and even the same "working for the secret villain" scenario, but gender flipped. And then they thought this was somehow a different movie. Plus, by its very existence, it managed to suck the soul out of the first one by revealing that no one actually changed or grew and all the character relationships are now worse than ever. Great job, guys.
I wish I could like this video twice. Honestly the more I think about all the ways this movie let us down, the more I'm insulted that the makers had the gall to present this product to us.
Pixar lost their power once they let Disney take the money reins. Disney stabbed Pixar in the back...
Let's be honest. The only good thing about this movie is that Edna Mode appears in it.
At this point Edna is the only good thing about this franchise.
This movie was grate
No Capes!
Thanks. I thought it was just me when I didn't swoon over Incredibles 2. I watched it once and haven't been compelled since. I watched the original a dozen times or more.
Lmao
This was a 3/10 for me... but have you seen Wreck it Ralph 2? 1/10
The incredicoaster was a better sequel
You're saying this cuz he want him to rent on the incredicoaster only for the fact being that it replaced California Screamin do you
Idk... It is still a very tacky ride for Disney standards.
oh come on it's the exact same ride
It was

FINALLY someone said what needed to be said. Heck yeah I'm subscribing.
First: Disney made movies.
2nd: Disney movies and characters become popular.
Then: Disney makes TV shows based on what's popular.
Now: Disney makes movies like episodes of a TV show.
Soon: Disney will stop being popular, because nostalgia is fleeting.
Yes
