While brutal, Vlad was merely doing what the Ottomans were doing to his people. I don't necessarily agree with the methods but they were effective.

Like all Tyrants, he justified his cruelty, as defending his people, but was very willing to practice on his own. Think of Ivan the Terrible, Stalin and Sadaam Hussein.

The defense of one's own women and children is a Superior Charity to allowing their rape and suffering in the name of "kindness" to foreign invaders. This is War, we're talking about. Not a mission in peace time.

Interesting discussion, but I should point out that the Malleus Maleficarum was largely discredited by Catholic theologians at the time it was written, including the theology faculty at the University of Cologne in whose name a falsified approbation was forged. It was rejected by the Inquisition for its cruel and unlawful instructions for witch trials (the Catholic Church had only relatively recently begun trying witchcraft cases as heresies where previously it had declared that belief in witchcraft was itself a heresy), and its author Heinrich Kramer originally wrote Malleus Maleficarum out of his frustrations with the Catholic Church not taking him seriously. Still rejected by the Church, the Malleus Maleficarum was mostly used by secular courts, the European witch hysteria itself being a product of the Reformation and Renaissance when the Catholic Church's political hegemony started to wane. So yeah, don't go citing Malleus Maleficarum as a tried and true Catholic source for this kind of stuff, just sayin'.

Fingernails do NOT continue to grow after death. The skin begins to retract after death giving the impression of growth. The same for hair. Also, I believe that when a person dies their soul is released. Therefore if they come back as the undead (vampire) they have no soul and cannot be given a conversion. Great show you guys made me laugh.

Yep, there is actually a specific wood to make a stake to impale a vamires heart. I think its called hawthorn in english.
Im from Croatia, and our language and serbian is VERY similar, basically same, especially since Croatia had significand Serb minority and we were in one country for almost a 100 years, where official language in schools was called "serbo-croatian", and it was used a bit from one a bit from other, so today its almost same. Vampir is our word, first mentioned in Serbia.
We have quite a few legends, Im from Istra region, we have here one famous vampire, its a village 3 miles from my house, the guys name was Jure Grando, and he is first vampire in whole Europe that was recorded in written history.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jure_Grando
Trivia: My very good friend has the same surname as the guy that took the axe and decapitated the strigoi :)
So, since he is from that village, its highly probable he was his predecestor. I mean, cmon, your gra-gra.grandpa was a vampire slayer, how cool is that?
Also, about so called "krsnik", which would loosely mean something like "the baptiser", needs to be born on saturday, but also needs to be born with placenta on him. Krsniks were the enemy of strigois, vampires, nymphs, etc.

Tepes means Impaler. Vlad had been given as a hostage to the Turks - either saw impaling or witnessed sodomy, turning that into a punishment for the Turks, impaling them. Vlad and the Albanian Skanderbeg saved Europe.

@1:12 ¡Yes! ¡Castlevania! I loved that game as a kid and I always liked that the subweapons were things that were found in my local church like Holy Water, Ashes and Crosses. Even the main characters the Belmonts were always presented as brave knights in the service of the Church sent to deal with the vampire problem. Even Castlevania 3 for the NES the first time we see Trevor Belmont we see him kneeling in prayer in front of the crucifix of a ruined church before he starts his journey.
Which is why I can't stand the Netflix cartoon adaptation which throws cheap shots at the Church and presents it as evil and demonic at every chance it gets, when in the games it was the Church that commissioned the Belmonts to fight Dracula in the first place!

To the inquisition question, base my expert knowledge of vampires (tv, movies, etc lol).. being bitten alone doesn't make you a vampire you still need to drink the blood of vampire who bitten you and then die. (yes very anti-eucharist now that I think about it). It's only after you risen from the dead you become a vampire. So Howard's soul can still be saved if he didn't fully transform. Yes, I know this is all hypothetical. Just adding to the discussion.

The Catholic Church the Roman Catholic Church hit the biblical prophecy of the coming of vampires and then darkness has been trying to fight them, there is a clear difference in the depiction in the book of a vampire and a human, they artwork is fantastic and the depiction is quite literally spot on, and you can definitely tell the difference between a vampire and a human. Lying about it and hiding it is only making it easier for those who carry out the darkness of that prophecy

Caine too, in some "traditions", is seen as a "first vampire": he shed blood, and was "marked" by God...
The word "strigoi", Romanian for vampires (the undead, not the cute animals), comes from the Latin word "striga", which gives to us Italians the words "strega" (which) and "stridore" (a high pitched screeching sound).

Vlad III probably converted to Catholicism due to the fall of Constantinople. Since the Eastern Orthodox church lost its authority it also lost much of its relevance in the fight against the Ottomans. The Pope endorsed the Christian resistance and Vlad seemed to understand rather quickly that he had to convert in order to swiftly muster support for his quest. For Vlad this was probably not a big deal since the threat from the invading Ottomans was as alarming as it could ever be.

The part about Dracula being the origin of the sauve glamorous vampire trope is not correct. That would actually be with the Romantics, namely John Polidori's The Vampyre (1819), and maybe Le Fanu's Carmilla (1875). There is also the 1840s penny dreadful Varney the Vampyre but that does not really have the glamorous trope. Actually Dracula does not either, although the character is very compelling. It's more that the female vampires are glamorous but not Dracula himself. You don't see that until movie versions of Dracula from Lugosi onwards. Also, the inability to go out in daylight is not in the novel, it's just that his powers are reduced, plus combusting in dayligh6 is not present in any other pre Dracula vampire fiction or in any folklore. It's actually first introduced in the silent film adaptation of Dracula Nosferatu (1922).

And from this lore you see it is a curse inflicted by the fallen angels. Also Ambrogio was drinking the blood of the game he would hunt. Artemis did that, so she could get back a silver bow she gave him to hunt. Unfortunately Ambrosio became Alergic due to the natural aversion to silver, fire and holy water from a natural spring vampires have. Also wooden stakes do this if you want to get killed if not bring a silver and Iron sword. In order to kill it pierce the heart and twist it that will kill it. Works on Vetelas as well unless you are a warrior, you are holy, have exorcist skills and you have the Divine Spirit dwelling in you also. You are pretty much dead meat also goes for demons train warriors to do this job not weakling clergy members those. For instance In japan Our Lady and the infant Jesus are depicted as a Japanese princess and a young Prince whereas in Mexico Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared as a Aztec Princess. So, say aliens were found and they were found to have free, rational souls and they were baptized into the One True Church of Christ. Would these Catholic Aliens have images and statues of Christ and the saints, specifically Our Lady, depicted in the physical form of their species or would they just use the human likeness of Jesus and the saints?

The concept of vampirism is really dependent on which genre you happen to be reading or watching at the time. Anne Rices’ novels, Depict vampires that are still Catholic in nature, and are quite fond of looking at crucifixes. Holy water and sticks through the heart are in effective. Wow vampires in the twilight Saga are completely different. As a sidenote, the stake through the heart was not meant to kill a vampire. It was only meant to keep them nailed down to their coffin so they could not escape. I personally think that shoving a crucifix in somebody’s face or using it to ward off evil is sacrilegious. The only reason anyone should have a crucifix around their neck, or hanging on their wallI is because they believe and what it stands for, and that is that our Lord and Savior died on the cross for the Forgiveness of our sins.

I think that vampires were/are the fallen angels described in Genesis 6. G:6, as well as Jude 6, seem to describe the angels who fell in order to come to earth and mate with human women, in a power grab to establish their own line. And the Book of Enoch describes this fall in greater detail, giving the place (Mt. Hermon) where the fallen angels came to earth to start their rebellion. And Enoch also gives the names of some of the leaders of the fallen angels. So, the theory goes that these fallen angels needed to drink blood in order to "fall," that is to leave their spiritual state and to be able to mate with physical beings. The fallen angels came to earth to mate with women, and vampires are typically depicted as seducing or assaulting women. The presence of blood in our bodies signifies our fallen/physical state. When Adam and Eve were first created, they didn't have blood, signified by Adam's statement when he first met Eve that she was "flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone." Today, when we say that someone is related to us we say that person is my "flesh and blood," not "flesh and bone."
Popular culture, movies, books, and the like, portray vampires as being sexy. The sex appeal of vampires to some might be due to some women's guilt about enjoying sex. So they like to fantasize a man, or vampire, as the one who hypnotizes them, that is, the one who takes responsibility for the decision to have sex. So these type of women like to feel that it really isn't their fault for having sex or for enjoying sex, and it's the man's (or the vampire's) fault or the man or vampire who made them do it.

In the Buffyverse, vampires have no soul. There are spells that can give a vampire their soul back (a gypsy curse gave Angel's soul back. Then he lost it when he did the thing with Buffy, but then he got it back again.). Once he got his soul back, he was very remorseful and stopped killing people in order to feed. They are rational and sentient, obviously, but have no soul.

I guess the perfect balance is freeze-drying my remains so that they can be buried and compost naturally.
As long as someone plants holy Tulasi above my remains, whether freeze-dried or cremated or aquamated, all is well.

A truly moral man, even if turned into a vampire, will still desire to good, and thus will starve himself to the point of insanity or ask someone to lay him to rest, rather than drink blood. I saw a truly just man be turned into a vampire, he begged me to lay him to rest. I am a Polytheist who believes in El Elyon(God Most High) and his 70 sons, of which Jesus Christ was unique. But this man was a Christian. Because my beliefs allowed me pray for this man's soul to go to God Most High and the Unique Son, as this man had asked of me to do while I lay him to rest. I prayed as follows: "O God Most High,
let not this mortal soul be eternally lost, rather for his faith in the holy name of Jesus Christ, give him entrance into paradise."

So I think they might still have a chance at last rights. Once they're completely dead and come back as ghosts not vampires then I think that's when it'd be too late for last rights.

You got most of it right Lilith was Adam's first wife but she refused Adam during sex being that she wanted to be on the top. This comes from Genesis chapter 1 in which man and woman were created the same way from dust. This leads Lilith to leave Adam because she refused to submit herself to him. As the story goes Adam wanted Lilith back so God sent three angels to retrieve her. When the angels caught up to her she refused to return to Adam the angels warned her that she would be cursed but because of the kindness the angels shown her she promised to harm no one who bears their names. Of course when she left Adam she had relations with beasts otherwise demons which changed her into a demon she is the first succubus. The curse she was given after refusing to return to Adam is that a hundred of her offspring would die each day. In retaliation against God she would in turn kill a hundred of the offspring of Adam and Eve each day. She spares men and children she preys upon whom wear a talisman bearing the three names of the angels whom were kind to her this actually was a superstition that people believed in during the Middle Ages.
A succubus is a female demon that invades the dreams of men stealing their seed. They change into an inccubus a male demon who rapes women using the seed they stollen to impregnate women whom will give birth to other succubus. Also succubus kill infants which is why it was not uncommon during the Middle Ages to place the talisman with the three names of the angels in their cribs to protect children from the succubus. Of course latter on the death of infants would be attributed to SIDS.
