I was doing some research about field watches and did the usual “best field watch for less than xxx amount” and VAER watches came up a few times. My interest was drawn, so I decided to buy one to see if it would be as good as I hoped it would be for such a great price!
In this review, you will get to know all you need to know about this watch, see it on a few straps, and I’ve finished the video with a nice montage to show how great it looks out and about. I am really smitten with this piece and will be buying more VAER watches!
I really appreciate you watching my content, and if you wish to support the channel, apart from subscribing, check out my eBay shop, as there I have a nice selection of watches and straps I hope you like! Thanks so much. www.ebay.co.uk/str/watchmewit... The small print: All watches in all my videos are genuine items and not copies or fakes. Homage watches are legal and I just review them. I am careful to use the word "homage" when presenting that type of watch, because that is what they are. All images and sounds used are either my own or used under the fair use policy. Thank you. Hello Dan,
Great review as usual. I have one of their watches with an automatic movement and I simply love it. I'm now tempted to buy a quartz version to add to my collection.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on this amazing little watch.

I love my Vaer 36mm C3 Tradition black. It is truly a wear-anywhere watch, covering the big 3 ... 100m water resistance, sapphire crystal and screw-down crown. Mine has a Swiss quartz (Ronda?) which is extremely accurate. It is just a shame that the seconds hand does not hit the seconds indexes, as my $50 Casio Marlin does.

Love this. Great review. I just got the 36mm of this exact version and I am over the moon! I couldn’t be happier. Great value for money. 🙌🏾 PS. Beautiful strap choice there at the end. I also plan to dress mine up and down depending on the occasion. Amazing how well this watch works on a leather strap due to its simplicity

Excellent video. I like the fact that you are down to earth about watches. I just purchased the C3 variant with the smaller 36mm case just like the one you showed on screen. I have never really cared for a quartz watch but I do love me a good field watch, and if it gives off some vibes of the Rolex Explorer ref 1016 all the better, and the Vaer hits those 2 things perfect. I believe you get alot for your money with the Vaer, especially with the beautiful case and finish work, a sapphire crystal and a screw down crown with a 100m of W/R.

  • @AlexanderB.

This is simply a lovely, versatile well made watch, no more and no less. I am really impressed by the finishing of that beautifully curved case. And it's not even overly expensive, at least the quartz versions, as opposed to the automatic versions which are disproportionately expensive imo. I can't see any major negatives to this quarz timepiece.

I adore my VAER watches. I have two C5s, a "Heritage Dark" and a "Explorer". Also on the way, one of the new D4 Atlantic solar divers! The quality of the cases, the specs, the build, the wear-ability, the straps etc. are just next level. Finally an attractive micro that embraces quartz and value (Bertucci ruled this sector for me previously, but their watches are not so attractive; tough as nails, just less than stylish).

Great video as always Dan! Vaer have been on my radar for a while. The A7 would pretty much be my ideal field watch but I keep looking at the A12 too with that classic Dirty Dozen sub seconds too. I had this Miyota 2035 movement fail in a MWC G10 military watch I found a replacement, with a battery, and delivery for an all inclusive price of £1.46. You would think that Vaer could put a slightly better quality quartz movement in a watch that costs £150. Other than that Vaer have a very nice range of waterproof watches nice designs and nice straps. Thanks for the review Dan.

    Boy that watch looks great.
You know, for me, my one watch collection was a Tissot Couturier. I tested it out recently wearing it on vacation. It dresses up, it has day and date, it's 100m water resistant, and has an 80 hour power reserve, plus it was cheap enough that I wouldn't be too mad if I broke it.
The things you like about this are the things I loved about my watch. Lume is okay, can go in the pool, good AR coating so it's crystal clear, light in weight. The only thing different is that I don't like numbers on my watches, so that brings me from field watches to things like the Datejust. If I do get one with numbers though, this is really, really good looking.
By the way that bluey green strap looks amazing.
I know this watch must be good because I remember you ranted about Timex doing a shit tool watch, and I think Timexes are pretty good.

I really like the simplicity/field like design of the dial. Love the size, as a small wrist owner. The red second hand is a nice detail.
And if I'm not blind, the second hand is actually hitting the markers perfectly? On a quartz watch? I'm so used to disregard that imperfection, even my lovely 70s Certina quartz doesn't make it. Anyway, great vid as usual, really nice outro shots. Keep up the good work!

Great video! I was like that, thought a dive watch would be the perfect beater, but what i liked seemed a bit big for me as my wrist is about 7 inches. So i started looking away from the dive category but i wanted to retain some dive specs like 200m WR and a 4 oclock crown. I dont need to time things either so a rotating bezel was not a must. And i found the Momentum Steelix. Understated look, clean, simple but had what i needed. Fairly cheap too. I havent bought it yet but i will. Also comes in solar. So a set and forget, grab and go thing that would take the abuse, the water, look good on almost any type of strap.

For $50.00 more, you could get the C5 Field Black, which has sword style white hands; or the C5 Heritage, which has a railroad track around the edge of the dial, and faux aged sword style hands. These sword style hands exhibit a greater variation in length between the hour and minute hands. They also have a larger lumed surface. As much as I like syringe hands in general. I agree that they are harder to read than sword hands in this particular application.
I am biased with regard to VAER. I own a kickstarter VAER mechanical Heritage with a Miyota 9015 movement; and am awaiting delivery on their forthcoming VAER dive watch later this month with an ETA movement. I am also saving up my money for their 36mm dirty dozen hand wound mechanical that they are currently working on.
The nylon strap is really quite comfortable once it is broken in. They offer these in black and navy blue as well as that rather unremarkable tan. These straps are particularly suited to hot weather, when leather or rubber are not particularly comfortable.

@@Realitytvfan I guess they are cheaper with better WR good point there reality tv! Unfortunately for me the San Martin has an automatic movement! I'm just a grab and go kind of guy! I used to own quite a few autos but I'm just not good about wearing them and it's a hassle to wind them everyday. Right now the Only automatic I have is my ball.
