Many people in general do not seem to understand the points that Jim is making, but it makes sense to me. If a Powerbomb on the ramp doesn't end the match, then what does? Do you throw your opponent off the roof of a building? Do you shoot them? Stab them to death? The measure of competency in pro wrestling is the ability to do it safely. If you can't do it safely, then it isn't pro wrestling. It's stupidity.

@@dray.forever There was a pretty long gap between him hitting the table and getting off the stretcher to continue the match but really that bump was silly to begin with due to how risky it was. I agree with Jesse's point personally (sadly Smark's sarcastic comment seems to be how a lot of morons see it being as some idiots appear to believe that it's a choice between either doing multiple dives and other death-defying spots several times in each matches or a mix of basic punches, kicks, rest holds and the occasional clothesline or body slam).
I think you should just stack chairs tables and ladders on top of someone until you get DQd. Throwing people off the roof of buildings sounds pretty good too. Where can I get action like that?

Everyone saw HBK vs. Undertaker at WM25... and think that to have a excellent match you hafta kick out of finishes constantly. You can't do that on EVERY match like everyone does nowadays. It is ridiculous.

Page will now hit rock bottom. He will be easy prey for the Dark Order, who will try and recruit him. This will keep him busy for a month or two whilst Kenny goes on to feud with Moxley. Page will have a program with Brody Lee, the two may team for a bit, but Page will eventually refuse to beat up the Bucks or something and turn face. Omega will be a heel by then and take the title. Page will then eventually go on to win the championship and have a huge redemption.
That sounds so lame.

I agree with Brian they have Page's out for losing is his alcohol addiction getting the better of him. Page will clean up and face Omega for the title and win it later down the road. If Aew would use it right, they could use Page's recovery from alcohol addiction as a means to get Page over not only to AEW fans but also casual fans like WWE used Eddie Guerrero's battles with addiction as part of his storyline when he faced Brock Lesnar years ago.
Casual fans don’t watch the minor leagues.
They take to long to get where they want to go and when they get there, nobody will care

The match was fine. Shawn Michaels used to take the same dangerous bumps and it didn't always result in an injury angle. Everyone who bought the PPV (including those pretending to dislike it in this comment section) have already given the show positive feedback. The only thing I agree with is that the lame aerobic outfit dancers needs to go. What's next ballerinas?

Brian Last is spot on. I too think they are saving the big build for Hangman to eventually take the belt from Omega. If you watch Being the Elite on youtube then there is more to the story. And also like Last said, I don't think they are worrying about the casual fan, cuz the casual fan doesn't buy merch, the casual fan doesn't buy a pay per view.
AEW won't grow with an "anti-casual" viewpoint. Oh well lol

I'm glad Cornette isn't booking since I'm so tired of screwy finishes and I'm glad that heels can actually be good wrestlers and not just crappy ones that only win by cheating. Wrestlers have an absolute ton of matches each year, it's fine to lose. Have some balls as a promoter and use proper finishes to matches, instead of being wishy-washy and always leaving an out or do too many roll ups.
Cornette complains about kicking out of moves, but having the heel cheat all the time does the exact same thing. You don't get angry anymore, you just get tired of not getting to see a real wrestling finish to a match. It's when you cheat rarely, when it really matters, that people get riled up. At least with kicking out of big moves you're at least putting on spectacular wrestling. It's all very obviously fake so might as well be physically impressive.
The way i see wrestling is the same as any other TV Show or Movie, there's a wall you have to get over in order for people to care about whats happening even though they know it's fake and thats getting over the suspension of disbelief. If you have wrestlers not selling properly, acting like teenagers and having 20 minutes spot fests then people can't care about whats happening on the screen because there's a clear disconnect between what they're trying to present as real athletic contest and shit they're showing you. It's important to have proper pacing, character and story developments to make people care about whats happening.
Can a heel win cleanly yes but when you do that you have to ask the question of where does that leave our baby face as you've just shown us that the baby face isn't good enough to beat the heel so it becomes a question of the next time they face what has changed that makes the baby face wins, I agree on not always cheating as i think it devalues the heel as a top athlete.
@@NephilimHunter1959 true but this is under the assumption that a baby-face can't lose cleanly without destroying their baby-face aura and I just don't think that's the era we love in anymore, people are more willing to see a face get bested cleanly. I suppose it's all about build and where the wrestler goes from the loss that decides if it was a bad move

@v b That statement makes no sense considering Jericho was in New Japan for years before AEW and for majority of his tenure in WWE was floating around the mid card. Also Moxley was getting buried on the way out of WWE so both guys had no WWE star power when coming to AEW. They also don't use their old gimmicks so how are they using WWE star power?
@v b Realistically Jericho was at his best in NJPW and Moxley has been at his best in AEW they were severely underutilized and it shows. Jericho is one of the most prestigious wrestlers in the last 20 years (im talking globally) him being the first champion makes sense and elevates the title. Moxley was one of the hottest wrestlers in the world after leaving WWE it only made sense for him to be AEW champion.

Take any poorly performed match add in some call backs to past matches and aew fans will call it longterm storytelling and great 😂😂

For someone who is all about storytelling, Cornette doesn't really seem to like the long term storytelling between Omega and Page, probably because Omega is involved. Hangman Adam Page is on a course to be the face of the company, they keep knocking him down so the fans can get behind him when he finally makes his push to the top. AEW fans FUCKING LOVE Adam Page.
Good work rate and enjoyable except for punches they should of stuck to chops , but I don't know were this great phycholgy that meltzer keeps talking about takes place in omega matches ?
I don't watch much AEW but watched this PPV. No idea who was the bad guy or good guy in this match, just watched Omega make noise and do weird things. I felt sorry for Adam Page because he seems like a great wrestler but he seemed to be wrestling against a guy more concerned with memes and his own ego than telling a story
The goofiness and clean finishes doesn't mix.
I mean I’m new to AEW. I’ve only been watching for like three weeks. I was instantly drawn to Adam Page. He’s cool, the buckshot lariat is pretty good, the Deadeye is an amazing finisher. He has the look of a top guy and he only in his late 20’s

Last Wednesday nights Dynamite was the best show on tv I’ve seen in a looong time. But it’s all better than the 24 minute chin lock matches that Cornette jacks off to.

The “Sweepers” were funny and dope for novelty but if your a viewer that doesn’t know wrestling well or the brand of wrestling then Corny is right, that part was cringy and carnie & I was scratching my head at that 2x powerbomb spot cuz they didnt sell either at all and the 1st on the wooden ramp clearly hurt Omega irl
When Brian's talking about Omega's skipping spot, Jim's "I thought he was just happy!"
Imagine thinking a powerbomb, piledriver or DDT is anything other than just a move.
If those regular moves ended matches, 90% of matches would be just punches and kicks.

I really wanna hear what Jim thought of the Bucks vs FTR. I enjoyed that match...I loved the tributes they did to the Hart Foundation, Steiner Brothers, Dudley's, and Hardy Boyz.

I'm a nerd. An old school nerd. I liked comics, video games, RPGs, wrestling, sci-fi, horror, and all that. I know nerds. I know OG nerds like myself, who grew up when it was hard to be a nerd, and I know modern nerds, who have it easy, as being a nerd is desirable and easy, and everything comes pre-packaged for them.
Modern nerds COULD be drawn into AEW, as they are trying to package it the way modern nerds like things pre-packaged... tons of backstory, tons of fan service, callbacks, and references. Modern nerds like discovering stuff that they enjoy, that also has a ton of old material that they can dive into. They want to have to sift through years of old episodes, so to speak.
However, while they are trying to do the right thing for that potential audience, they are a bunch of goons who only have pieces of the knowledge and ability it takes to do that.
They know what they need to make to do what they want, they just aren't quite capable of making it.
