If you haven't heard the Live version of "Heaven Sent" from Beast from the East... that is his best solo by far. Completely different from the record. Jay Parmar is the only person on YT I've seen pull it off.
Section two- I always knew I heard more notes in the second measure than a lot of tabs included.

I glanced over at the tv as videos will play a few seconds preview and the first thing that came to mind was did George Lynch rob Eddie Van Halen’s Beat It solo or did EVH rob George but 100% that opening phrase is so bad ass it’s no mistaking that riff is iconic.

Hey man hope all is well. As far as i know Ed started those stretch symmetrical patterns. If im not mistaken Holdsworth was an inspiration to Ed. Of course Ed made it his own. But definitely see the influence. Lynch was on 🔥 back in those days. By far 1 of the best 80's error guitar players. ROCK ON BRO 🤘
I got the stretch part easy, just cant keep the notes from dying out too soon.
I hear you bro. I notice that when George plays live, he seems to always add some taps (including tap slides) and extra picking in there. Definitely helps! :)

Love the channel and playing. I am curious what you still think about the line6 HD 500 pedal boards after you have upgraded to another. They are pretty affordable on the used market.
I liked my HD 500... I actually held out on buying the Helix for a few years because the HD 500 did everything I needed it to. That said, I've gotten very used to my Helix, and I don't regret it either.

I just found out that Beat It was released in 82 and In my Dreams was released in 85….feww that makes sense that George would hear that incredible riff and have to use it in one of his biggest songs ….im sure Eddie took it as a compliment to his awesomeness …..maybe 😂
I wonder what Ed thought of George when they toured together in the late '80s (or when playing the LA scene in the 70s?). I saw them together on the Monsters of Rock tour with Scorpions, Metallica and Kingdome Come. Great show! :)
@PDXguitarfreak unrelated question but how do you change the video effects to show different guitars in the intro
@@PDXguitarfreakGeorge said he and Eddie spent a lot of time together in that tour and got really close during that period. He talks about it in a Premier Guitar interview from 2021, he speaks really reverentially of Ed in that interview
