Hi everyone! This one was a lot of fun for me, and I hope you enjoy it too. What is your favorite solo from Billy Gibbons? Let me know! I also want to call out that for my short-scale guitar (used in the performance at the beginning of the video only) I am using 11 gauge strings to keep adequate tension on the guitar while turning up. I'll put a link in my video description if you want to watch the other video I did discussing the Chiquita guitar and the short-scale guitar experience (including an overview of how Eddie Van Halen used a short-scale guitar). ua-cam.com/video/_zozXETJ98A/v-deo.html Coming up next is an '80s solo that is very easy to play but incredibly memorable. Definitely takes me back! 🤩🎸
I love how perfect your lessons are!! I would bet all of your solos are 99 if not 100% CORRECT! Being a perfections and OCD myself, I have utmost respect for you!! Now if only I could play all these songs 😬
BIlly Gibbons was so good at that. I don't think he really played with his mind or even his penis. - lmao! He played within himself and these solo's just came out. Great Blues guitarist!
Love me some Reverand Willie G! If you get a chance, Blue Jean Blues is definitely some of Rev G's finest work. The world would be in debt if you could show us how to 'play it right' 😉
@@PDXguitarfreak The guy who does the "what makes this song great" did a "tone" test with Rhett "ill simp anything" Schull. There was a substantial difference in tone. But I agree, 008s would feel like cotton string. Even 009s are way too light for me.
Actually, you are wrong. Your favorite solo is From Planet of Women. I'd love to see you do a breakdown of your TRUE favorite and not just solos to fit YT algorithms lol. Love the channel.

@@PDXguitarfreak I really like Legs (both real and on the song haha)

That tone is for real
God damn...is there anything you can't play? I freakin love this solo! Thank you man 👍😊
That ZZ Top sound ❤
I love my Billy Gibbons Mexican-Wiley 7g strings. Absolutely perfect for his riffs and easy to play. Like butter
It's hard replicating a tone like that! I just tried to do something similar, so I'm glad you liked it! :)
Very nicely done! Thanks!

Love it! You captured the vibe and feel👍👍👍👍
Dave awesome solo & killer guitar !
That is exactly how I play it, except for that one part😁
Please do both solos to “Rough Boy”. Badass stuff 😎
The list is long... but I may do that one day. Great stuff! :)
@@PDXguitarfreak I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I’m still alive when you do 😂

Steppenwolf- The Pusher next...
Sorry to comment twice but it is important to note that Billy used 007 and 008 gauge string sets. This would allow for tuning up like he did.
Hey Ben, that's a fair comment. I've actually only played with 8s once and it sure felt like rubber bands :)
@@PDXguitarfreak PD, Try 7's on a strat.
I promise you'll love it

LOL thanks Ben! I'll have to go back and give that one listen 😊

I started to make fun of the guitar but then I remembered we were talking about Billy G lol. Excellent job BTW.
