  • Welcome back to Pro Shop and to part 3 of the HR Holden ute build series. In this video we will take you through the last of the modern upgrades including power windows with one piece glass, custom air vents, custom grill plus adding a late model tailgate stay.

      Yeah it is however it's still a long way from being finished. The last 10% takes 90% of the time.

    Where have you been all my life??? You are so creative and imaginative. You are an artist!
    This is why they say that after you leave school, get an apprenticeship and a good job. The trade that you learn will pay the bills for the rest of your life.
    I love HOLDENS and especially older HOLDENS. I have the money to employ someone to work on an older HOLDEN as you have here however, I don't have the space to garage it. Maybe when I win Lotto I will. Keep up the good work mate. I'm off now to watch your next episode. DM.

      Haha thanks David-Michael. When I left school I had no idea what to do. I did a lot of different trades which I guess accumulated to what I am doing now. Cheers for watching.

    Its refreshing to see someone who can weld properly .There's to many videos on youtube of restorations of cars with questionable welds which you can clearly see daylight through. This is the way it should be done.

    Insane skills you have mate .. so much detail in making those air vents and electric windows and tail gate hinges and grille.. must be costing the owner alot of money for your time and effort to build this HR. Looks mad .. keep up the good work

    from someone who fitted a 308 V8 into an EH in the early nineties with only fusion & arch welding practices, you absolutely take it to the next level... 👌

    The centre bar on the HK looks very similar to the HR. Maybe you could try to see if it would work? Keep up the fine work.

      Thanks Roger. They’re my favourite old ute too. I had an old XK Falcon I wish I never sold. Pretty sure everyone has a similar story.

    The way the grills were done back in the 1970's was to get a HD grill and fit it as they almost the same what you have done.

    Deleting the blinkers on the HR was old school back in 1970's, we use to use the FRONT STONE TRAY LOWER VALANCE of the HD, Im not sure why he didnt just use a HD Grill.

    Awesome work have you considered HD grille. The model before HR had no blinkers in the grille and that may work well for your build.

    Great work. I see you have a Magna Bend, what a marvelous piece of equipment, I still have my 1300, but once had a 2500 as well, used for copper and zinc roofing, they are priceless.

      @@ProShop1 I made up a number of different dia round bars welded to plates to make curved sections, had a number of people asking how it was done, a very clever machine.

      Cheers. Yes I use silicon bronze on most of the panel work where I have to sand it smooth. A lot less heat goes into the panel.

    bloody awesome work mate, looks awesome. I have to tackle auto windows in my van soon, struggling to find a kit that will work as they are only 45mm think. love the aircon vents they look sick.

      I'm pretty sure the universal kit I used would fit. The motor would be the biggest part and I don't think it was wider than 45mm.

      We did think of it but the owner liked the idea of keeping the centre piece of the HR grill.

    Love your work. I'm currently doing a build on a HR wagon and was considering doing the same with the front glass to make the doors look longer. With the changes to the hinge area are you able to retain the stock hinges? Also who is doing the glass for you?

      Yes. I made it so I didn’t have to modify the hinges. I haven’t had the glass made yet so not sure who I’ll be using. I’ll keep you posted.

    I like the full glass but maybe some mirrors in the corners like modern cars then you dont need that infill panel.

      Not a stupid question at all. I get asked all the time and yes it is silicon bronze. It might be time to do a video on it I think.
