I'm going to make this for my dog who has elbow dysphasia. I have made bone broth before for myself, but never thought of adding egg shells. I have a ton of egg shells I've saved. I grind them up and put them in my dogs food. I've always wondered if their body is able to digest them to get their benefit, this sounds more viable.
    Thanks for sharing, 😊🐶😊

You made this 10 years ago? I think you were ahead of your time, Brett, or maybe I'm just behind the times! I'm working on extracting Nicotinamide and NAD from baker's and brewer's yeast. I'll use the spent, dead yeast cell residue for the relatively high glucosamine content. Then I'll add white vinegar to get some N-Acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc).
For the highest glucosamine content in meal and food processing waste, the ranking is first to last (according to ChatGPT, which isn't always correct):
    - Shellfish Shells (e.g., shrimp, crab)
    - Cooked Poultry and Fish Bones
    - Spent Brewer's Yeast
    - Spent Baker's Yeast
    - Bone Meal
    - Fruit and Vegetable Peelings
Thanks for your kitchen chemistry video. Even after 10 years, it's still high-value content for the DIYer!

Thanks for your comment! I'm grinding egg shells today. Add to food in powdered form.
Have you looked up if heat affects the G & C? I wonder that because I roast the egg shells so they don't spoil before I grind them.

@@VitalityMassage Yep, here's info on temperature ranges
      Yeast, bacteria, fungi fermentation:
The temperature range for proofing baker's yeast typically falls between
      100°F to 110°F (37°C to 43°C).
The optimal temperature range for yeast growth and NAD synthesis is typically between 25°C and 37°C (77°F to 98.6°F)
Temperatures below 100°F may not activate the yeast effectively, while
temperatures above 110°F can potentially kill the yeast cells, rendering them
      ineffective for fermentation.
Inactive yeast can be frozen without any degradation.
Enzymes, vitamins, peptides, amino acids and hydrolysis:
Temperature range that optimizes enzyme activity while minimizing degradation of enzymes like bromelain, papain, amalase, lipase is 40°C to 60°C (104°F to 140°F). I use 125°F.
Freezing can degrade enzymes, phytonutrients and vitamins.
Time and pH can also be a factor in processing out the phytonutrients and vitamins. Keeping pH between 5 - 7 for most hydrolytic processes is good, but because the N-Acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) and Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) extraction requires acetyl group (vinegar), the pH will be lower. That's to be expected.
I powder eggshells to make DIY toothpaste, and I also use it and powdered bones as garden soil amendments. I rinse the albumin off the eggshells and juices off bones, then let them dry and pile up at room temperature until I have enough to grind. I don't notice any off-flavor in the eggshell when kept at room temperature. The fat in the bones goes off and I can smell the typical rancid odor that I associate with old vegetable oil from the grocery stores. So, it is probably best, if you are going to eat bone broth, to keep them frozen, if you can't process them for the glucosamine right away.
Because I'm not eating the bones, I don't mind the fat degradation. Whatever is decomposing it - bacteria, fungus, enzymes - is useful in the garden too.

@@VitalityMassage Good idea to not eat much of the commercial and industrial foods. Veg, grains, pulses have glyphosates and other endocrine disrupting herbicides and pesticides. There's a new preservative coating for fruits and veg called APEEL that Gates invested in. The coating has heavy metals in it. They are GMOing veg and fruit now too. One example is the apple varieties with ARCTIC in their names. The gene modification is to keep the cut apple from turning brown with oxidization. That oxidization is caused by enzymes that we need to digest the apple. Yogurt has a new GMO bacteria that can eat galactose. They use it industry wide to get more water content into yogurt without using biothickeners, like agar and xanthan. The amount of adulteration in the commercial and industrial food industries is the reason I grow and process my own as much as possible. Put in a greenhouse back in 2020, so now I can pretty much live all year off what I grow over the growing season.
The more self-reliant you are the better your health will be, Brett. Enjoy your homegrown chicken...and eggs too??? I'm not allowed to have chickens here in the village. Count your blessings, if you can keep livestock at home.

Brett,I'm not very creative so when I saw you making Glucosamine Chondrontin Broth I said I can do that. Finally maybe I can help my sell with this rheumatoid arthritis that is litterly debilitating me. I thought let's give it a try. I have also heard that night shade plants may aggravate the condition. I will have to research that thought. All the Dr's want to do is push another med that they haven't even taken the time to research that have such terrible side affects and listen to the pharmaceutical reps presentations.
Thanks so much for your opinions and help.

The bone broth recipes I've read and used say to simmer for up to 36 hours. 🤔 I use marrow bones as well, they are hard bones, but after cooking for so long they become soft enough so when my dogs chew on them their teeth leave marks on the bone. This is so good for their teeth and gums. The chicken bones are so soft after 36 hours I'm able to grind them in my food processor and add them to the dogs food. Can you tell I love my dogs...😘 🐶

Yes, when I went looking for relief for my poor 🐕's arthritis, I was told I had to buy the most expensive brand of dog food to help her. I can't afford to do that so I'm glad I found this. Now I freeze most of my scraps and make my own dog food. Saves a ton of money and she gets the nutrition she needs and I can change it for whatever else might be treatable through diet. Just have to be careful because dogs aren't supposed to consume certain veggies like onion or garlic for example.

Have used WD40 spray rubbed all over my back, hips & arms for my severe debilitating pain from fibromyalgia. It really helps the nerve pain. Am I doing any harm to my skin & has anyone else done this???

Yeah, the extract is a chemical extraction. Lucky you're just using apple cider vinegar, that's not an acid at all, and you're not using the same chemical extraction as others are 😂🤦‍♂️🤡
