If you thought Magnus was just chewing food like an Orange cat, think again. He thought about 4 different opening ideas and 5 end game tactics in that time frame.
The cut to Magnus slowly eating his food is honestly so good. Let the hilarity build up for just long enough while also having some progress as the thumbnail creeps into frame is genius. I'm genuinely impressed to the point where I'm over-analysing the comedic editing of a chess video. Someone save me.
Magnus is so cute. All of them are so cute. Wesley’s positive, love-it-all energy, Maxime the food critic, Alireza being hesitant about every dish, and all the others and their entertainment value. This kind of content is my lifeblood.
People always overrate things, to the point that the average rating isn't 5/10 or 2.5/5, but its 7/10. To Magnus 7/10 is a good rating, to others, 7/10 is below average or an insult.
90% of current norwegians haven’t even eaten all of these dishes before, and tbh it makes this video kind of weird when i’m norwegian myself, only thing i’ve ever eaten from all of this is the dessert 😅
@@starvick26 a lot of norwegian traditions come from relatively isolated communities along the coastline, so despite 'short distances' there's a lot of variety, some huge, some minor. Fish featured quite heavily in this video, while many regions focus more on other foods. There's quite large variety in cold spreads (to eat on top of bread), desserts and cookies, there's some variety in 'main christmas meal' but that's more like a few big contenders (lamb sticks, pork ribs or lye fish being the main 3) with some variety in side-dishes. Shocked because a lot of these are "hotel breakfast/lunch" staples, prepeared in this exact manner as in this video. Gravlaks is almost mandatory in finer hotels internationally ( I travel a lot). I have met Magnus once during breakfast at a hotel, where there was for sure both Rakfisk and Gravlaks, in Norway. What the hell. I think Magnus mind might be 100% focused on Chess to the degree that any other information is blocked out.

So cool that they liked Norwegian Christmas food, but to be Norwegian and not even know what these dishes are is borderline treachery. I've had all of these, of course, and more. They missed a few, like lutefisk (fisk stored in lye), juleskinke (ham), ribbe (pork belly/ribs), medister (spiced pork meatballs), julepølse (sausage), juletorsk (cod), pinnekjøtt (lamb ribs steamed on wood sticks), smultringer (doughnuts cooked in lard) and the other 6 traditional Christmas cookies.
