You get that right! Although I’d encourage him to relate and compare even more to brands’ other products (when possible.). Especially when it comes down to a geniunely drivers’ brand, such as Mazda.
I like when a reviewer talks about the driving experience. The steering, the gear, the clutch, the suspension, all the things we can't read on a paper.
My Subaru is in the shop and my buddy picked me up in one of these to go to the gym. He slammed it, brought a smile to my face. Wasn't expecting that power on something this size.
THIS IS EASILY my favourite video of this new Mazda so far 'cuz u were basically driving it like how I drive my 3 Turbo hatch (like I'm on a racetrack lmao) & therefore the video was basically 18 minutes of driving a 3-row SUV like a track car while listening to the turbo inline-6 & WE LOVE THAT 4 US 😭😭😭
I really hope they will eventually put it into the new 6, but unfortunately, I heard they scrapped the RWD 6 cylinder Mazda 6 as a whole. Apparently it’s not economic for them to make a new sedan platform, because sedans don’t sell nearly as much as SUVs. Sadness
@@adamkozolka6981 the Australian(?) ceo said that I think. People in the comments are holding onto false hope imo. For them, the CX-90 only exists as an engine demo.
This suv is really embodiment of what german manufacturers forgot about car design. Not over-stylized but elegant interior/exterior combined with „to the point“ powertrain and technology. Simply well done!
My Audi S5 Sportback kills this in performance, styling, and quality of materials. My also BMW X3 M40i also kills this even more. There is no comparison
@@Andrew-qs5yo my comment says nothing about „speed“. Audi s5 has nothing to do with this car in terms of design philosophy, chassis, powertrain and purpose… it is the most luxurious version of c-segment sedan platform and this car is a 7 seater suv. for your better understanding; usd 8k msrp suzuki gsx probably will eat your s5 alive on mountain roads… x3 relies on almost 10 years old CLAR platform and it is pretty much at the end of its product life cycle… and also good representation of what bmw forgot in terms of design philosophy. I don't know, but I don't see much "elegance" on the exterior here. It looks like any bulky SUV to me. But it's nice to see a proper inline 6 on a new car, let's see how long Mazda can afford to ignore the E train. And Mazda interiors are above average for the price. Much better than Toyotas, I'll agree with that. I do like their "soul red crystal" color option. The main reason I don't buy Mazda, is that other than the MX5, which is too small for me (and you can't get any decent interior colors), you can't get the proper front engine, rear wheel drive layout anywhere. German manufacturers give you just that, and for me it makes the world of difference. I don't care for AWD and its technological bagpack, especially when most of the power goes to the front wheels most of the time.
That thing is impressive, can't wait to see how the CX-70 turns out, basically this drivetrain, in something a bit smaller and lighter. A Mazda 6 with this drivetrain would really be great as well.
I wish enthusiasts’ opinions were halfway representative of the average consumer’s. I’m not confident Mazda would be comfortable taking the risk of releasing a more performance oriented sedan when SUVs have been selling like crazy the past years.

I’ve heard a lot of people saying that this car isn’t special and that they’d go for a Telluride, Palisade or Pilot over this. The CX-90 has the first Japanese-made inline 6 in 20 years, since the RB and 2JZ I think. 24 mpg city and 28 mpg highway on AWD standard thanks to it being a mild hybrid. It’s gonna be pricey despite starting at $40k USD, but if you can get over that, and go for the lower trims it’s a great SUV for enthusiasts imo. I just hope it doesn’t disappoint when I drive one. Although it seems to everyone in the comments section that this car only exists to be an engine demo lol, nothing but I6 sedan talk.
I think the interior is a class above the Pilot, but I can see why you’d take a Pilot or Telluride. However, a sports sedan with this powertrain and Mazda design? I’m immediately buying it over any of its German rivals
@@realAlexChoi exactly. The CX-90 is it’s own thing, very competitive for what it achieves even if the interior space isn’t as good as the rest. It’s more of a smaller family car imo. But like I said, realistically you’re gonna have to sacrifice the higher-power engine (shown in the video) for the lower trims which use a 280 hp version of the inline 6. I hope that doesn’t disappoint, otherwise you’d rather get another car if the speed isn’t much better with the lower-power engine. I really hope it doesn’t disappoint, because I might go for the preferred plus (280 hp I-6) and nothing higher.

I had a 2011 Mazda 3 2.5 6 speed. I can say the shift were butter smooth but the car was slow as can be. The handling was decent but overall the suspension was horrible. Eventually upgraded to an sti and man the 0-60 is literally twice as fast as the Mazda 3 I had.
@Lucian I'm almost 40, and used to ride crotch rockets when I was younger so got the speed out of my system. Just want a small reliable vehicle now, so the Mazda fits the bill to haul my wife and kid around.

What a nice package all around and to see a huge family SUV carving up mountain roads is quite funny. It also sounds really good in the interior while doing it. Good job from Mazda
I am attracted to this video by the first person view of this gorgeously looking Mazda cabin which has a good mix of colours and materials. Besides, great job for bringing us these well composed first person driving car review, that bring us audiences to hit the road with car testers in one continuous clip throughout most of the video, rather than just looking at them talking here and there in bits. Well done!
Fun Fact: If you switch the letters, it's a cheap XC-90 Volvo. Look at the fenders and the steering wheel. I like it. I have an XC90 and I always say it's like a really nice Mazda (I used to own tons of Mazdas).
Likely to be more reliable overall then the train wreck Volvo made out of the xc90 when they redesigned it in 2016. Beautiful design, but lots of serious complaints.
Pretty badass car to be honest. I think years from now, after everyone finally gets over their “SUVs have ruined the automotive world” cliché declinism, and and the next big automotive trend takes over, and SUVs start to decline in popularity, this car will be sought after by enthusiasts. So many nowadays are overstyled and overpowered, but this one is rather tame and quite beautiful, while also being fast and fun. Mazda did a good job.
I worked in the Car Biz on the Service end for 26 years. Mazda was always one of my favorite manufacturers and this is why. This is one awesome review.
Saw one of these in person and did not love the actual styling of it in person. The interior is exactly the direction I expect from Mazda because they have been stepping it up
I'm just imagining the owner of this car watching this video and freaking out! For a family hauler, it does look sharp and fun to drive and sounds good too. Cant wait to see one in person.
We have a 2016 CX-5 FWD and even with its 2.5, it’s punchy. It’s not fast but it’s fun. It handles great. It’s just not big enough for us anymore. The CX-90 is what I’m waiting for. We won’t be buying a new one because I can’t justify it but when it hits two or three years old I’ll be keeping a real eye on it. Probably the PHEV for her because this will be our road trip vehicle. I agree on the Mazda 6. I was really hoping we would hear about a RWD or at least RWD-biased AWD sedan with the inline 6. I mean if they’re trying to go upscale it makes sense to try and attack the 3 or 5 series cars. There’s enough market share that they can take away from other manufacturers. If they don’t bring one of those to market, I’ll pick up an ND2 for myself. Thanks for the video.
Mazda has filled the shoes of what BMW used to be all about-- simplistic, well-engineered, no-nonsense machines for people who enjoy driving. BMW has since abandoned that philosophy to produce overinflated high-end gimmicky gadgets, while Mazda has stepped it up to become classy yet humble. And they've proved over the past 8 (almost 10) years since breaking away from Ford that they can produce a quality product that doesn't fall apart after 5 years or 100k miles. I'm rooting for Mazda all the way.
I love the aesthetics of Mazda.. if I had the money I would def buy this. I would have to compare to BMW, Lexus, and others first but the looks have me sold on this as of rn
That’s for top of the line. If luxury isn’t your thing then the lower trims are perfect, it starts at $40K USD for the lower 280 HP version of the inline 6 with AWD standard.
15:33 Fortunately the straight-6 is kinda making a comeback! New Mercedes models and JLR products come with an I6 instead of a V6. Outside the U.S. the inline 6 diesel is also available which is even more bizarre when most of the auto industry is downsizing.
Great review. I loved hearing the excitement in your voice. If I were in the market for this size vehicle, I definitely would take a second look. I'm a long time Mazda enthusiast--I had a Protege, and 3 Mazda3s. Great cars. Keep up the great work!
@7:22 I got pulled over right after that tunnel in 2015 lmao, but man there are some nice drives in the Red woods / along the coast north of the Golden Gate in SF.

Yes sedan would be amazing. Mazda honestly has much better EPS system than BMW rn.
CX-90 inline 6 has the WOW factor. I'm getting Cx70... cannot wait!!!
Why get the cx70?? It's the same thing as the cx90 but without the 3rd row, which you can just put down on the cx90...
@@Just-Browsing-123it was rumored to be a smaller cx90 but it’s disappointingly the same car with 3rd row gone
@@faheemabbas3965 idk about space, but in terms of interior *design*, Mazdas been killing it, outperforming not only their usual Japanese and Korean competition, but also BMW and Mercedes
@@faheemabbas3965 interior and interior volume is different. Mazda interior luxury touches and fit and finish is in a league of their own
I have a feeling it's gonna be a massive hit for Mazda, I definitely like it myself.
2:26 Who’s that guy walking by? That would’ve startled me, car running while sitting in the 3rd row, door open and car unlocked in San Francisco 😄
Looks like he was startled, too. There was a pregnant pause there while he took in the fact that a pedestrian wandered that close to him while he was filming.
100% terror in that moment
That was not San Francisco, but the other side of the bay across the GG Bridge in Marin County.
The other guy: who’s that with a go pro on their head, talking to themself, in the backseat of a running car?
Do people not walk around outside where you come from?
I work at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing on the Mazda line. While I hate how physical my job is, I love the product. I'm a Mazda fan now...when I can afford it lol. I just need to get back into Cyber.
Really a fan of Mazda, last 5 years they really made the move into luxury without paying for luxury. I have a 2010 Mazda 3 GT, 2.5 with 6 speed manual. Besides a clutch, I havnt made any repairs to the car and it's a fun car to boot around the city with.
@@wojtekswiezak148 I get it I’m almost 35 and I mostly just cruise the fastest I’ve been in my Sti is 90 when I was tuning it. It’s just nice having that power or handling when I need it. For the family I put em in an explorer st.
Models 5, 8 and 9 have many problems, unlike models 2 and 3
God this is my dream car. I've been with my 1997 protege since college man I've been saving up but life ain't easy...
So glad we have some real drivers getting behind the wheel of this thing! A three row crossover is definitely not on the top of my list but I'm so excited for this new platform and where Mazda is going.
Damn that interior is impressive. Looks like it’s an $80k vehicle.
Daaaad, I want a Turbo S!
- We already have a Turbo S at home..
The Turbo S at home:
The 280 hp lower-trim CX-90
damn mazda. still making the mx 5 the way it is supposed to be, still producing bigger na engines with cool technologies, upped their design and interior quality game... and now an inline six with a great drivetrain and rumors of a rwd mazda 6. these guys are becoming one of my fav brands. i really hope we get a mazda 6 with that drivetrain. serious bmw competition at that point. and the heated seats are even built in without a subscription. insane.
The RWD, I6 Mazda 6 concept has been canceled.
I'm loving the colour of that interior I've never owned a car with a none boring black trim can't wait to get my hands on a car with a cool interior, 👏
Great to see new Inline-sixes being produced.
У Мазда нет денег и технологий на новые двигатели. Эта маленькая компания и они сильны только дизайном и маркетингом.
That interior looks fantastic
Mazda has kinda been solid for quite some time now. They never do anything blatantly wrong.
Would love to see a new MX-6 with this powertrain
4:00 RWD based + made in Japan + good MPG + value priced?
Sign me up!
12:00 RIP MDX sales.
13:55 Japanese I-6 FTW!
15:30 Pros n cons
That's amazing. We have a 2020 CX-9 and I like the way it shifts and drives.
Amazing car. Love the engine, love the exterior, love the interior. Love the way it made you have fun on those backroads. If I had the money, I'd order a CX-60 with an I6.
Mazda knows what they are doing. Probably the only 3 row SUV that would entertain me.
Congratulations on 1 Million views!!! You deserve it!!!!🎉
Mazda is just simply my fav Japanese car brand. They are the only one who care about driving experience
It seems to have a better engine sound than most of the modern BMWs. At least to my ear.
The sound we hear in the cabin is completely artificial. Sounds really off. I wish we would get over this phase already
@@jaky3 i agree. My first impression was it sounds very very fake :((
@Makm fake my a s s !!!, this car is Mazda not those garbage ugly piece of crap Tesla EV with fake sounds.
uh oh, nope. Artificially generated engine sound will "only" giving you "good" sense of noise, otherwise too artificial
Mazda design is second to none. No hyperbole.
I can't believe i'm saying this.. but i'd have this over a Range Rover!
Economical buy without giving up too much. And probably more reliable.. yes!
@@ariescaisip5498 probably more reliable ? absolutely more reliable

Как владелец Мазда и теперь рендж ровер, хочу сказать, что Мазда не сможет конкурировать в высоком сегменте.
@@ilja-sm-n I agree but my RR gave me too much of a headache to outweigh this
What a nice package all around and to see a huge family SUV carving up mountain roads is quite funny.
Well done!
Thank you!
not a fan of SUV`s, but since i have a soft spot for Mazda, and this seems to be a perfect package, i might consider this!
from germany.
Fun Fact: If you switch the letters, it's a cheap XC-90 Volvo. Look at the fenders and the steering wheel. I like it. I have an XC90 and I always say it's like a really nice Mazda (I used to own tons of Mazdas).
It's better than a Volvo. lol.
Likely to be more reliable overall then the train wreck Volvo made out of the xc90 when they redesigned it in 2016. Beautiful design, but lots of serious complaints.
the tan is absolutely beautiful
Pretty badass car to be honest. I think years from now, after everyone finally gets over their “SUVs have ruined the automotive world” cliché declinism, and and the next big automotive trend takes over, and SUVs start to decline in popularity, this car will be sought after by enthusiasts. So many nowadays are overstyled and overpowered, but this one is rather tame and quite beautiful, while also being fast and fun. Mazda did a good job.
Men this mazda is beautiful 😍. Mazda is doing a great job, and the interior in the glance of my eye i thoughtit was a bentley for sure
1:51 bro you triggered my insides that sounded good
I worked in the Car Biz on the Service end for 26 years.
5:50 feels like a video game with the same cars 😂
That interior looks excellent ❤
Love inline 6 motors.... my old 95' Jeep had and inline 6 and it was a torque monster and ran great! I'm def looking at Mazda now...
I absolute love that Mazda, looks stuning and Hopefully that Inline-6 can go in some other cars (Like the Mazda 3 and the New Mazda 6)
Absolutely. I wish they would put it in a coupe as well but I know that won't happen.
There will be no new Mazda 6. It's dead.
The vid I was looking for regarding this model!
Looking forward to the CX-90 Carrara 4 GTS
This video have so much view , because it brand Mazda with design so beautyfull
Thanks for the video.
my home town!!! I learned how to ride bikes and drive stick shift in those old presidio parking lots
Pray for inline 6 Mazda 6
Mazda have been very impressive over the last 7 years
Love the sound of the engine👍🏻👍🏻
Mazda has filled the shoes of what BMW used to be all about-- simplistic, well-engineered, no-nonsense machines for people who enjoy driving. BMW has since abandoned that philosophy to produce overinflated high-end gimmicky gadgets, while Mazda has stepped it up to become classy yet humble. And they've proved over the past 8 (almost 10) years since breaking away from Ford that they can produce a quality product that doesn't fall apart after 5 years or 100k miles. I'm rooting for Mazda all the way.
This is the car. All I need. How a car should be properly made; made to be driven and loved.
I got my cx-90 turbo s prem. on Tuesday bc of your vid.
Thanks,
I love the aesthetics of Mazda.. if I had the money I would def buy this. I would have to compare to BMW, Lexus, and others first but the looks have me sold on this as of rn
I love the mdx type S but this looks like a much better value for what you get. Glad to see mazda stepping their game up
mdx probs faster
@@Daniel-pc2ov The MDX Type S is probably faster like you mentioned but not the regular MDX.
No trim on MDX or S model is RWD
$60k is a lot but this is a lot of car. Well done mazda
That’s for top of the line.
If luxury isn’t your thing then the lower trims are perfect, it starts at $40K USD for the lower 280 HP version of the inline 6 with AWD standard.
I just bought a turbo CX-5. Mazda is knocking things out of the park!
15:33 Fortunately the straight-6 is kinda making a comeback! New Mercedes models and JLR products come with an I6 instead of a V6.
Outside the U.S. the inline 6 diesel is also available which is even more bizarre when most of the auto industry is downsizing.
Wow. Current BMW X3 (2020) driver. I may check this out though! I like , I like!
Great review. I loved hearing the excitement in your voice. If I were in the market for this size vehicle, I definitely would take a second look. I'm a long time Mazda enthusiast--I had a Protege, and 3 Mazda3s. Great cars. Keep up the great work!
They’re just such nice cars and I love the company’s aesthetics..
@7:22 I got pulled over right after that tunnel in 2015 lmao, but man there are some nice drives in the Red woods / along the coast north of the Golden Gate in SF.
I’m shocked at how much that engine cover helped reduce the noise!
Yep, my 2016 Mazda 3's engine cover doesn't make nearly as much of a difference, however, the injector noise on the 2.5 is pretty quiet for direct injection
Didnt think i needed to see a cx-90 in the CA Valley roads hustlin!!! I am glad I did! What if,just what if this is the 2-jz re-incarnated.
11:32. Jesus. Nothing like thrashing the hell out of this thing. Love it 🤣
2:29 I started to worry about our protagonist for a second there
That was real fear.
