    Great video brother. My natural lighting in my room where I shoot videos is a pain in the A to work with, so this helped me a bunch. Also, if you don't mind me asking -- what was the background music you used for this video? I loved it. Thanks again.

    I just got the Canon 90d, I'm very new to DSLR'S. For filming; do I only use Auto (A+) or M modes? Also, I'm noticing I have a orangey hue on my video, what am I doing wrong? I've been filming in TV mode, there's no way to adjust shutter speed. I'm only able to increase or decrease exposure. Also, I have noticed the lighting shifts periodically, do I need to do a white balance? Thank you for your help

    • @PPS-UK
      @PPS-UK  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Shereen, thank you for watching. When filming video always have it in manual mode. The reason I say this is because you will always want to make your shutter speed double the number of your fps ( If your shooting 24fps, then shutter speed should be 1/50) A good trick is to put your iso on auto mode, this will ensure you dont have lighting shifts :) As far as the orange hue, I would think that is your white balance mode. Go to your white balance setting and try each setting until the orange hue goes. I hope that has helped :)

      Bensguide how about my aperture? Does it matter?

    • @PPS-UK
      @PPS-UK  4 роки тому +1

      @@CookingwithShereen if your aperture is low like f4 or f2, then what ever you are focusing on will be in focus and the background behind it will look out of focus (this will make what ever you focus on stand out more) If your aperture is high at say f14 then everything you are recording will be in focus. A low aperture lets more light into your camera and a high aperture lets less light in to your camera.

    You've just helped me to finally solve the audio problem with this camera., I was told that white noise is inherent with DSLRs but by you showing that tip of turning the level down, it then just allows the ext mic to work. Simple and honestly a bit of a face palm moment at how I didn't see that earlier 😂😂😂

    Great tips Ben, pretty much the same for the M50 (although the controls might be slightly different). I do shoot in low light and have to bump the ISO a fair bit sometimes. I normally shoot at f/8 or f/11 and 1/125 second (at 60fps). In low light I often shift to 30 fps and 1/60 or even 1/30 second and f/4 to avoid noise as much as I can (but sometimes it's unavoidable). Thanks for sharing

    • @PPS-UK
      @PPS-UK  5 років тому

      Thanks Ralph, the noise is not to bad on both the 80d and m50 in higher isos. I found that I could shoot upto 1600 and it was not to bad, anything above and it was a bit much. Like you rightly said though, sometimes its unavoidable. Really appreciate you watching 👍

    I enjoy shooting both stills and video of air shows, specifically WWII warbirds. Here’s my settings for both. For video use 24 f/sec (cinema look) and shutter speed of 1/50th sec. Shutter speed should be twice the frame rate. ISO is auto and aperture f 8 or 11. It’s essential to keep the shutter speed low to avoid that horrible rolling shutter effect that digital video cameras are prone to. For stills again keep the shutter speed low 1/60th to 1/350th. You want that nice prop “spin effect”. For stills it takes practice to get a decent sharp image at lower shutter speeds. Image stabilization helps somewhat. Warbirds in flight take shutter speed up to 1/250 to 1/350th. Taxiing drop it down to 1/60th to 1/125th.

      I would have recommended the 80d all the time for this a while a go. But both the M50 and the 250d are cheaper and offer just as much, if not more. They are also smaller and more portable. I did a review on the 250d recently. Great camera, fantastic focus, small and has access to Canons cheaper yet very impressive lenses, its also £250 cheaper than the 80d. You’re using ntsc I noticed, seeing as you’re referring to 60fps and 30fps, is there a reason to use this over the pal FPS of 50 and 25 respectively?

    • @PPS-UK
      @PPS-UK  3 роки тому

      You don't have to use it over PAL, 24fps produces a slight motion blur which is almost unrecognisable but creates the most cinematic video effect, of course 25fps is very little difference though.

    need help - I'm shooting an indoor dance recital on my canon 80d - what settings do you suggest if I want to use a 40mm prime lens to capture the whole stage all the time? specifically should I go with Manuel focus (instead of auto)? any tips would be helpful. Thanks!

    • @PPS-UK
      @PPS-UK  5 років тому +2

      It is very difficult to answer this, as I wouldn't be there with you and therefore I would not be able to know the light on the day. As a rule of thumb, go for 24fps a shutter speed of 1/50, a low aperture number, and use your iso to see if you can get enough light sensitivity from an iso of not above 800, if so set your iso to auto, as the light may change if there are windows letting in natrual light, and this will give you the best even light. Thanks for watching by the way, and best of luck on the day! 😊
