If you move a rook to the last rank, it gets stuck. This seems like a flaw in game design. Maybe the pawn should be replaced by a (modified) elephant or something? Otherwise, it seems like a really nice game.
This is intentional. Kyoto shogi is also like that. It's a risk you have to take if your move is to capture a piece... If you just move it there without capturing, then that's just a blunder lol.
There wasn’t anything that urgently needed a video (I think I had most variants covered). We just had a slew of new variants out in Pychess so expect some videos down the line. Also my video editing software got much worse after an update so it’s been very challenging..

Neither Pychess nor Lishogi support sho shogi, which is kind of a dead variant. It's basically like shatranj for chess.
