Gee I miss my old 75 and the fun things that would go with it..after a time i started to get a filter kit and most parts from terrain tamer..good stuff and not bad prices to..
Great job servicing OL8OY, he’d be loving that new radiator I was hoping to see the diff, transfer and gearbox oils changed, would love if ya made a vid on that 🤤
Just because I didn’t see it doesn’t mean you didn’t do it; but I smear a little oil on the oil filter O ring before spinning the filter on. Makes it much easier to remove for the next service.
My mechanical workshop recently made the opposite error with my '98 105 1HZ; up on the hoist, drained the oil, screwed the sump plug back on, FORGOT to put new oil in, drops vehicle from hoist and takes for a test drive, engine seizes. Total rebuild plus other bits for $10.5k required - different mechanic of course. Oh Danie I'll take your mistake & rectification any day! Oh lord give me strength.
Danie Simpson All good, after a little persuasion from the legal eagles the mechanic's PI insurance (eventually, it took 5 mths) covered things and now everything is new or rebuilt from the radiator right thru to the clutch. Not a day's problem with the old 1HZ engine over 15 years of ownership and a total of 280k kms. New engine just ticked over 5k kms, smooth, strong, reliable with punchy compression - no turbo for now 😊
Be glad you noticed the missing sump plug before turning the key. I made the mistake of starting another job after draining all the oil, it required depressuring the fuel lines, only way to do that is to start the engine. And I did it without oil.. doh!! No damage fortunately :) we all make mistakes. Just like I won't start a car ever again without oil, you will never forget the sump plug again haha
Changed the oil on my Jackaroo lots of times, but on one occasion the o-ring of the spin on filter stayed on the housing put the new filter on as usual, hand tighten as usual, all seemed good, until the oil pissed out past said o-rings......... Sometimes one ring is better than two

It's not the first lawn to be lubed up after a few cans and it won't be the last, at least by seeing this it reminded me I need a new crush washer... last 3 services I've forgotten and just gave it a few smacks with a ball pin, not recommended but effective. Hope you are doing well mate.
Hey danie quick tip for pouring out of 10L an 20L drums an other containers is to keep the whole on top to keep air coming into the drum a constant flow so you don’t get that glug glug an it will stop you from spilling stuff an making a mess keep up the good work tho
I had an aftermarket fuel filter/water catcher, and Ryco filters didn't work, I had to get Delco to fit properly - just as well they are cheap. It's certainly an interesting drive with the filter sucking air!
Nothing wrong with the filters what so ever. The cheap water sensor is the issue. I swear by Ryco never had an issue in 9 years and the engine has over 620000kms
@@DanieSimpson yes you are right, I use Ryco air and oil filters. I bought the fuel filter from Berrima Diesel, they told me at the time I would need Telco filters, and as I found out, Rycos won't work with it.
I havent forgotten the sump plug before. I HAVE left an oil filter sitting on the filter spiggot on a 1KZ hilux and started it up. Nice fountain of black oil all over the passenger side of the motor and shed floor. I blame the cars owner feeding me a large number of Black and Tan's before I finished the job!
Good job. Having done my 75's radiator not long ago, getting the new one bolted up was the hardest part. I ended up with a full flush and filling it with Toyota Super Long Life coolant, why'd you go with green?
I love that you jump right in with the wrenching videos. I would really like to see a couple of driving videos, nothing really elaborate just would like an example or 2 for my Wife to see. She has a 4x4 now and seeing some more women driving would be helpful. Maybe just some basics. Not a demand, more of suggestion if you are looking for content ideas. Thank you Danie.
Haha it was like a trip back in time before the as airbox went in etc . Good job either way your channel puts a smile on our dial when we watch them keep on being positive I reckon you have the best days ahead of ya this summer ! Thanks for the upload legend 😎.

Nice job. Lesson learnt we’ve all have oops moments. Was that a xw/xy Ford 4x4 in the back ground definitely need a vid on that one. 👍from me as always
It truely is a waste using KN filters, ur better off using stock, or a terrain tamer. The KN ones just don’t filter the dust as well.. maybe If you ran a spinner on ur snorkel it would benefit
Years ago I was servicing my first car. My dad, a mechanic, was working on another car. I dropped the oil and said to my dad, “the engine oil is red Dad.”’to which he replied, “you’re too far back son, that’s the transmission.” I know your pain...
Good job Danie regardless of the sump plug thing, Did you tighten it? I also would have checked the diffs also there are two plugs in the inside of the front hubs a 1/2" open end spanner to remove them and a few pumps of grease in the hole on each service would be a good thing. Question where did you get the oil filler bottle from? I would like to buy one of those.. Regards Wayne 35 years diesel mechanic..
My god these cruiser are the worst to remove radiators from, my 80 1hdt took legit 5 hours in my drive way with the wrong tools even cracked my shroud spilled 95% of the coolent on myself snapped 2 bolts
The 80's are a total pain- Why do i Need to remove my BONNET LATCH to take out the radiator? The 100's arent much better at all- The AC pipes are in the way of the bottom bolt on one side, the top bolts are a prick to get too, and you need to remove BOTH bottom mounts off the radiator before you can remove it from the vehicle. Oh, and when you do remove the bottom mounts, make sure you hold on to that radiator or its gonna fall straight through the chassis rails. And punch a hole in itself on its way through. At 3pm on a friday afternoon...

I've used Penrite for years, it's the best value for money quality oil you can buy. Goes in my old Hilux and WRX.
