Amadigi di Gaula is an opera by Georg Friedrich Händel (HWV 11) based on a 1699 chivalric play by the writer Antoine Houdar de La Motte called Amadis de Gaula.
The libretto is by an author not yet agreed upon, since John Jacob Heidegger was recognized as this one, although Giacomo Rossi or Nicola Francesco Haym have also been considered as possible authors.
Handel's work premiered on May 25, 1715 at Her Majesty's Theater in London, with the famous castrato Nicolò Grimaldi in its original performance. The opera was met with great acclaim, being performed seventeen times in London and a similar number of times in Hamburg under a different title, Oriana. Then it fell into oblivion until its recovery in 1929 in Osnabrück, Germany and in 1968 in England.

Thank you very much. I’m a countertenor in training and this piece is a perfect accompaniment for my practice. Most sung versions start with G#5 instead of A5 and I cannot sing along. Yours is very useful and true to the original.
