    Got to say I've watched both part 1 and part 2 of these videos you've created and you've explained the basic in a excellent way. Even for someone like myself who's got experience it's still refreshing to watch this and pick up the odd tip or two. Thanks very much. Defo going to watch more videos in the future. Thanks Tim

      Comments like this, make the marathon’s worth while Tim. That means a lot, it really does. Keeping it fun, I’d say is so, very important too but, acknowledgements from others like your good self, is extremely good too and, right back at you with the gratitude 🙏

    Thank you this very helpful and detailed video, and all the work you put into your videos. Great Shakin' Stevens impression at the start too! ;)

      Very much appreciated. Thanks & Gratitude. Shaken Stevens is better than Evil Knievel I guess lol. Though I do ride a Mountain Bike

    Blimin heck Andy just watched some more of your helpful vid. I didn’t know those track settas had a film on them. I’ve just peeled it off and on the ones I’ve just received from west hill wagon works which are a better quality 🤣

      Thanks 👍 Are you saying the WWW ones are better and if so, why? The ones used here were the only ones available at that time but, I do like the material they’re made from and the rigidity so, they’re fine and very cost effective including a straight. Mentioning the peel off was also, if anyone was confused as why the ones on eBay were pictured green but, yeah I used mine for about 3 days until it dawned on me that I could peel it off.

      @@modeloco I think they fit better

    You know the track radius gauges from eBay….I carefully sanded the edges on mine until they fit in perfectly. I bought two sets so I could glue them together to make them thicker for better grip to push them through the track as they can snap if not careful. Cost more to do but still worth it.

      @@modeloco I wish I’d videoed some of what I’m doing and building 😂 Iv gone a bit radical and different, I’m having two base boards at each end of my room then they get joined by a 15 foot hand built bowstring bridge 🙈 once I’m finished some of it I’ll put a video up, this is all down to you 😂 when I seen your track going out the house and very long down to your shed. Happy days 🙏

      @@Dr.Gunsmith Drilling a 5" bore hole through the wall was quite tense. Forgot to record on camera too as it was, very crucial to be in the sweet spot & a big leap of faith. Had it been slightly out, you can't exactly drill it again but, filmed the start of the video before, even starting anything. Knew it was going to happen once, the thought came. Had no idea, how I'd do any of it. All that's been held up, a little, with TT but, its garden season now again... :)

    BUILD YOUR OWN - ABOUT 15% OF THE COST OF COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS !!!
    So where do you buy a HOm/OO Dual gauge point ? That's a Metre gauge/Standard Gauge type in real life ! Or any other unusual type of point not made by the very restrictive model track Manufacturers. You build it yourself & save a fortune. Using "Copper Clad sleeper strip (Paxolin)" & Nickel silver Code 75 bullhead rail. Takes me around 2 hours to build a 6ft Large Radius point, and costs about £5 in parts. Parts available from Marcway SMP Models in Sheffield, whom I've been using for over 30 years.

      That sounds an impressive time scale and cost. Have you some examples of these on video?

    Will that wire you are using for the droppers be suitable for using as the Bus wire or do I need a heavier gauge or whatever the term is. Layout is only 11 foot by 6

      It comes in 10 metre rolls. How many would you be looking to purchase?

    • @modeloco
      @modeloco  Рік тому

      Bought straight from a gasket manufacturer in bulk to get cost down a bit but, if you want an odd 2 or 3 rolls then sell it on my patroon site or, you can buy on eBay. To pack securely and with size of reels it’s an awkward size to ship economically for one reel sales

    I knew Rod Stewart and Jules Holland were model rail fans, but Elvis, too? 😲
