The Ford Escort RS Cosworth is a rally version homologation special of the fifth generation European Ford Escort. It was designed to qualify as a Group A car for the World Rally Championship, in which it competed between 1993 and 1998. It was available as a road car from 1992 until 1996. The powertrain was only fitted to this version of the Escort, a longitudinally mounted Cosworth YBT, a highly tunable turbocharged 2.0 L (1,993 cc) with a bore x stroke of 90.8 mm × 77 mm (3.57 in × 3.03 in) Inline-four engine[1][2] which had an output of 227 PS (167 kW; 224 bhp) in standard trim. Tuning companies have achieved power outputs in excess of 1,000 bhp (746 kW; 1,014 PS) - Авто та транспорт
Loved the battle with the welded nut being fully documented. Lots of people would have edited it out.
Made the video that. Then for it to come out anyway. Class.
This is everything we wanted on wheel dealers , no fake buyers no messing about a very educational video , subscribed ❤️
I wet myself when you cleaned the fuel filter bracket ... Just pour cleaner all over it and over the wood worktop/chopping board. Class act.😂😂
Try changing your temp sensor, the ecu reads from the temp sensor and adjusts fueling to suit temp.
Exactly,I did put this in the first video, when the ECU coolant temp sensor completely fails it will show up as an ECU failure fault code, makes the car run like a turd and will cut out and won’t restart until it’s cooled down ,I’m surprised Adam hasn’t scanned this as the OBD port is on the N/S/F suspension turret near the battery.
Agreed, check the blue temp sensor at the back of the head.
If he fixes it too quick, there's no build series 😄👍
I'm sure he has scanned it 😉
Weld a washer first. Then nut to the washer, 10x easier and better method.
Easy to measure the sensor resistance.
Tip for removing anything stuck to paintwork. Heat up with a hairdryer, the heat reactivate the adhesive. You won't need to pull as hard, also lessons the strain on the surface it's stuck or bonded to 👍 love your videos and content, really easy to follow 🤜🤛
Think it’s basically every blokes dream to have a cosworth in his garage to tinker with, class content Adam
It is so nice to see a real project for a change
When I wanted to remove a stuck on front reg plate on my old Corrado, I used a heat gun to soften the glue first. Loving this series! 👍🏻👍🏻
and Tar Remover or Petrol
Nearly spat my cup of tea on the screen when you were welding those nuts (and your spanner) on mate FN hilarious - great work 😅
His paint booth made me laugh too 😂
@@gdfggggg hahah yes
That was comedy gold welding those nuts 😂, thanks for leaving that in still chuckling now.
Great video. Love the fault finding process. Love the real life fails we all experience in our garages.
I'm loving the journey you have been taking us on mate, great content and awesome presenting style.
I’ll second that 👍🏼😊
Agreed. Stumbled on this a few months ago. As you say, great content. What a likeable fella too.

Paul saw you coming Adam 🤣
Glad I'm not the only one that loves the difference a decent number plate can make
You crack me up with the degreaser, splash it all over job done !! love the channel btw
Loving this adventure bro.
Your rear plate isn't straight!!!
Left hand side is lower than the right side. 😁
Pauls already gone through the car he knows what it needs .....he knew it was to much to take on tracing the niggly bits ....perfect car for a part time weekend car enthusiast ❤
I agree.
Love watching you work through the problems and you must get a kick out of resolving them. No one is born an “expert” and hats off to you for getting amongst it.
i think i have never seen a car this clean before.. car looks amazing
I love how much love you’re putting into this bad boy
Getting better and better!
Greetings from New Zealand Adam. Have been watching your videos for a while now and you do an awesome job. Keep up the great informative work, you thoroughly deserve to own these amazing cossies. 👍
Great content Adam always look forward to your uploads. Hope you get it running properly 🚗
Superb UA-cam channel- love your videos - had a few RS’s over the years - love the passion and enthusiasm you put into them and it’s great you do it yourself- something I can relate too- keep it up Adam 👏👏👏
Another little job getting closer this legend to perfection. ❤
Even in its current state it’s a stunning car, great seeing you releasing videos of the transformation. Considering you are a bloke in the garage having ago I admire that attitude and seeing you improve the car. I know I wouldn’t have the guts to do that. Looking forward to the next videos 🙂
Love your presentation style, you legend Adam!
Well done Adam, those original font dealer registration plates look so much more period correct.
This car is looking good now, I can’t wait to see more videos featuring it❤.
Im older then you pal had loads of old classics, its a labour of love and never ending bud, brilliant content as always cheers Adam
Great content buddy it's a 100 times better than what is on main stream TV well done fella
Love these cars, sat in one at the Birmingham motor show back in the 90s....they had just come out and the que to just have a moment sat in one was crazy ...but we waited haha ha😂.... it had the hex cloth interior and it was stunning.
Great content again Adam, can't wait until you've got this on the road.
You should have altered the hole on rear plate to side of number N so yellow screw cap is not over the the black letter or try it with a black cap to blend it in better. Really enjoyable video, cheers Mick
Needs a black cap 👍
Great video Adam , slowly getting there great content good luck 👍👍
Adam lad iv been following your channel for a very long time now and I have enjoyed every single video. But on this Cossy Escourt I wish your videos were at least an hour long Adam lad because I could sit and watch you work on that beautiful car all day long! I wish you nothing but luck not that you need it because I know you will get that car exactly how you want it!!! Keep up the excellent work Adam lad. Kind regards, John 👍🙂👍

Love watching guys like this work. Zero shortcuts 👌
Hi Adam, great video, mate not really an avid watcher but love the Escort mate nice to see a guy having a go , best of luck
Brilliant Sunday morning cuppa tea and a new video to watch. Great stuff Adam. Ag motorsport knows his stuff by the way 👌🏻
Great work Adam, great to see the Cossie getting the love and attention it deserves.
It's screaming for original alloys fella lovely car.
Love the way you used process of allimination to get to the bottom of the problem 😊 you'll get there mate..👌
I thoroughly enjoyed this Adam. Fantastic car.
Love the new hoist Adam and enjoy watching ya videos in new Zealand man . Keep up the good work look faward to seeing the escort cozy progress 😊
Brilliant video again Adam your getting there, well done.
Great video Adam. Could watch them all day. The fitting that the banjo bolt goes into is a banjo union I think 👍
Nice methodical diagnosis mate
Mate I love your commentary and the hatred for the GB plates being the worst thing since men's UGG boots. Barbarians. Looking forward to the series
Great work Adam! Some great info in your videos and sure you inspire plenty of people including myself to have a go at jobs on there own car
Love the honesty on welding 😅 good stuff a truthful home mechanic😅 good video pal
Loving the series.
Hi Adam enjoying the content with the new project, when i fit new plates i measure the plate, then i place masking tape on the bumper top and the 2 sides
make sure the tape looks and is level, then fit the double sided tape and the place the number plate under the masking tape and inside the 2 tapes on the sides.
Another tip, when removing glue residue from vehicles body panels i use mineral turps to clean the glue residue, let it soak on the glue, then rub with a soft rag.
Plus the mineral turps will not damage the paint.
Hi Adam and fellow Mackem, loving your journey on your Escort Cosworth, can't wait to see you get onto the road 👍
well done. Getting there mate
Love these videos mate , brilliant
That garage is a thing of beauty! 🤩
Love your attention to detail mate the escort cossie is a belter
Good job Adam you’re cracking on I can’t wait to see what this car will turn out like. Now I need to wait till next Sunday for another video 🥺
The car is stunning m8
Love the twin head lights class keep up the good work m8
Another Great Vid Adam🤩🤩👌Black screwcap cover for the N on the rear plate🧐😂😂👍
Hi Adam! I would install a A/F gauge and maybe check some volts on the ecu very carefully.
I would be careful with the breakcleaner around plastic, especially the Plugs/wires. Can do more harm than good. For this you can get special contact cleaner spray.
Also note: open your garage door if you leave the cossie idling! 💀 Better safe than sorry.
Next time a bolt is round, try cuting a line into the head so you can get it loose with lots of rust remover and a flathead screwdriver. Or you could also get yourself a small torch like for cooking and heat the bolt right up until it glows. I know, that also wouldn't be ideal next to the fuelfilter.😅
If you remove anything sticky the next time heat it up with a hairdryer. Just not too much or else you'll damage the paint. I would've rather closed the holes from the rear number plates and just to minor paint adjustments since its behind the number plate. With this now it could start to rust.
You can also write the current milage on the fuel filter with a water resistant marker.
Just some small tips from one DIY-fella to another one. ✌️💪
Great content Adam , love the way you have a go at everything 👍🏻good luck with getting the cosy back To mint condition , it starting to look nice already 👍🏻😎
Next job has to be replacing the indicators and headlights with original ones 😁
them headlights are giving chinese/bangladesh vibes...
I like the headlights. Perhaps not so much the painted indicators.
@TheBadBunny87 Originality is almost always more desirable in regards to the value, and always for collectors who have any taste 😉
@@mameli0701 I know. I still prefer the morette headlights over the originals though. Always have.
@@TheBadBunny87 👌🏼😄
Cracking video Adam loving this series
Adam l really enjoy your videos and can see the effort you go to bring good content and loving the cosworth 👍👍👍
Loving this journey with the escort cossie brings back memories when I had my mk5 escort cabriolet in plumb purple only ever saw one other on the road was a rare colour back then Ford didn’t make many back then still miss it today after nearly 20 years 😭😭😢we’ll done mate loving this build 😀😀
Have a look at the Mass Air Flow Sensor it gets dirty from oils coming from the cone air filter which get into the air intake and MAF sensor, try cleaning it / replacing, Standard air box is way better, Cone air filters take in heat from the engine bay and can rob you of power as well causing other issues.
Great progress so far!
Keep at it Adam you’ll crack it!
The amount of those bumper clips I’ve lost over the years , I’ve just put a tied string on mine now so when they do pop off,,it’s dangaling on said string and not lost , nice progress mate
Yet more great content.the escort cosworths looking great.wish i could fit a lift like that in my garage.
Great video Adam 👍
Just goes to show those 5 min jobs don’t always go to plan with old motors!😂 Great job as always well impressed
Great episode Adam, keep 'em coming
Hello from Stockton on Tees Adam, good call on the number plates those Euro/UK plates are hideous, then when I saw the Nesham main dealer plates going on so many good memories of the early 90's they had a place in Thornaby and Middlesbrough were I used to get my parts for my Sierra XR4i and XR4X4 back in the day, good times!
Brilliant video Adam, love the content and especially trying to weld the nut, your like me manage to weld it to everything except what you wanted to weld to, that did make me laugh 😂 hope you kept the spanner as a reminder.
Anyway, keep going mate, doing a fantastic job.
The Idle Air Control Valve is infamous on our V6 Mk3 Mondeos, It does not usually cause running problems but makes the car produce a crazy sound known as Moosing when you come off the throttle.
Imagine having to get the eyebrows done 😂😂😂
Great informative content as always Adam! 👌🏾
Id try and get the injectors on a flow bench, see if they are all still working ok, one not actioning properly could cause issues like lumpy idle. Great video, shows how many problems an old performance ford can get, they cost that much to insure, the maintenance was just about enough to keep them going, looked like a very old fuel filter, not something commonly changed on petrol cars, but it was good to change it!!
Hello Adam
Looks like ii was right in my previous comment of changing the crank position sensor as i described it was the exact same problem my previous Escort cosworth had and the CPS was the fault
Fingers crossed no more engine cutting out now.
All the best
Nigel 😎
Great video pal
Just like the saff videos, the escort is looking better all the time.
Neashams of Teesside was in Middlesbrough, there’s now a cinema built where it once was.
Well done Adam u will get there 👍
The original number plate screws were stainless, and you changed them for zinc coated mild steel there going to start rusting as soon as you close the garage door 😅
“Using my paint booth” 😆👍. I’ve done exactly the same in the past 😆👍
Cracked me up with gb plates, couldn’t agree more
Loving this series mate, fair play showing all the phuck ups along the way 😅
I do most of the work on my own car the engine Is the only thing I never touch. The amount of times family ask me to do breaks etc on their cars and I refuse they still don't get It if something goes wrong..whos to blame? Love watching vlogs like this because you still pick up little tips that will help you. Top man Adam 👌
The small details like the reg plates make such a difference.
As for the reg plate fitting , I would put a couple of bits masking tape on each side before the old plates come off , take them off
And that means you have a rough guide where to position the new plates 😎👍
Good job 👏👏👏
Great video, keep up the good work fella
Great video as always Adam 👍, sounds like the hydraulic lifters could do with replacing if sound a bit tappy, looks great in red 🔥
Really enjoyed this episode
Appreciate all the explaining still! :D
I'm learning good from this, and are building up the nerves to do shit myself :)
It’s coming along nicely mate.
Love these Adam. 😊
nice work matey.
Good update - love that comment about men’s Ugg boots haha you’re right …
Think you're videos un this RS is fantastic them coming 👏
