Imagine when the old owner fitted the new splitter, clear bits and painted those indicators.. they probably stood back and thought wow this looks amazing now we have Adam taking it all off and thinking wow... Looks amazing 😃
Hi mate think the clear Indicators looked better but of your wanting to go stock, why by cheap parts from Ebay ? this is an iconic classic - car give it the love and attention.... done be cheap ( please don't take offence) .... But a great show mate thanks you for the content ... Wayne
Back in the 80's I was a massive petrol head, I was going North on the M6 and saw my very first Sierra Cosworth on the road it was in moonstone and on a 'D' plate, I think a little drop of wee wee came out of me too lol, it looked just fantastic, really enjoy your vids, actually there is an Escort Cossie in my neck of the woods it's white with white wheels don't know the year as it has a personalised plate on it, still looks good even all this time, all the best fella.👍👍👍👍
Your misfire when the engine's hot could be a coil pack failing. Electrical faults often get worse with expansion due to heat - I'm a motorcycle nut myself, but love anything with an engine...besides, who doesn't love a Cosworth ❤ so I follow your channel 👍
Agreed, with older cars like this (which I'm going to keep) I change plugs, coil packs, leads, oil and fuel filters and cam belt (if not chain), regardless
Escort cosworths look better with the normal headlights in ,better than them double round lights .fishing line if you need to remove any more badges Adam ,love the cossie great video again mate 👍
Great videos, Adam. Love the fact that the Cosy is coming together with just a few small fixes here and there. Don't forget, when removing anything that is stuck, heat up the adhesive with a hairdryer, it will make the glue a lot softer and easier to pull off 👍🤜🤛
The stock look is definitely the best look. Standard headlights for me. The morette headlights look good with the wrc bumper but for a road car standard for me. Will be good to see if you can get the paint off the side lights to keep them original too. Good work pal👌
Great to see the progress on this Ad, my tip would be to grab a heat gun and plastic blades for removing badges etc, i could barely watch when you was using a metal blade and copper wire haha
I love these videos of you opening packets and fitting stuff to your cars, Adam. Commentary so good and very funny (teeth in NE 😬cracked me up). Thank you from Huddersfield.
It’s stuff like this that makes me cringe. I’d rather a damaged original than some Chinese shit… fair enough to the guy but I’d be much more precious..
I fitted my own ramp too Adam then bumped into a ramp engineer at my mates mot centre who was willing to check it over and certify it just for peace of mind. I thought £120 was well worth the check just for my safety. He also lubricated everything and showed me where to for future reference well with it. Love your vids
Adam : "I do have the foglights in ehhmm the kitchen". Proper car guy :) Please use soapy water / universal clean spray as lubrication when using the wire to remove the Ford badge. Goes a lot more smooth :)
Adam i would definitely try some paint stripper on the original side repeaters because if you could get them back they would be worth saving. The corners on the splitter you could use mud flap clamps to hold them down. So glad you have started to turn it back to original spec mate. They look so much better standard. Great video mate.
A good idea adam is to send the old oil from the ESCOS for a Millers oil analysis- perfect time to do it - will give you a good idea of the condition of the engine etc
Try letting the painted indicators soak in a container of brake fluid. It may well remove the paint. I've also had success stripping paint using washing tablets/gel capsules. Takes a while, but was very effective.
@@smithrx97 you realise his repair was decent 🫣🤦♂️ the an fitting works the same but seals itself if he replaced the anodised elbow instead of the union style and clamp 🤷♂️ it’s a non oem line anyway being metal braided
Makes me wanna work on my 09’ GLI I just bought. Needs so many maintenance services to get it where I want it. Just gotta save up the money and take my time
Morning Adam was nice chat at the NEC the other week 👍🏼 Maybe as the cars not been used for years as a service job to replace coil packs & leads also !anything can brake down over time . Ian & Justin Ford M-techs Bristol 👍🏼
2 lessons from today, 1, don't buy your t-shirt from primark 2, don't buy tat off ebay your turbo thanks you for some fresh oil to actually work properly with you have your own ramp now, why get bert to do your brakes ? keep them coming young man
Looking good Adam, do like the factory look if I'm honest, looks how it was intended to look, on that note, it would be lovely to see it back on an original set of wheels, I know it's a personal choice, as is everthing, but it would look good😊
Adam, Jacko from Barnsley just be careful when stripping the paint on the side lights you don’t want to melt the plastic. Keep up the good work cheeRS jacko
Cmon brother those engines are a piece of engineering perfection you gotta keep the life blood in perfect condition don’t wait 7 years for an oil change, my Peugeot GTI 180 gets new oil every 3 months and I’ve done this since she was new in 2006.
Hey Adam, use some dot 3 or dot 4 (3 is best) brake fluid to strip the paint off, it’s safe on plastic and won’t harm it. It’ll need soaking in it over night from my experience and leave the plastic like new.
+ Obviously don’t immerse the complete part in it as it’ll eat any rubber seels! You’d need to apply it to a cloth and drape it over it, but it’ll remover the paint safely
Great video Adam , loads better getting rid of that after market tat ! I would put origbal headlamps back in , just like them to get the way Henry ford wanted lol , good luck looks good 👍👍👍👍💪
Love the videos Adam, I’m the same spirted amateur that likes to do most things on my Esc cos myself, couple of things after the work you’ve done to the paint get a proper was bucket with a grit gaurd and chuck away the tile grouting sponge and get a proper mit. Also and I stand to be corrected 10-60w is a little heavy for a standard engine, I’ve always been led to believe 10-60w is suited to track and heavily modified engines for road and standard 10-50w is more suited, keep you the good work 👍
Still my hero car. Keep original as much as possible. I'd put the fogs back in too and totally agree with the orange indicators and side lights. I do love the twin headlights though. Monte carlo rims would look the business.
Can you still get the original Ford badge? Little things like the font being different would do my nut in 😂 I’d try wet sanding the paint off those side lights first
A spark plug should not be nice n black this indicates too much carbon deposits (possible mixture issue) or other issue. Spark plug should be dark brown ideally
I personally would of left the clear indicators but it's Yr car m8 also when I worked at ford's in winchester at the bodyshop we used 2 use wallpaper scrappers to remove badges without scratches k bro awesome motor m8👍👍
Back in my Max Power boyracer days it was considered cool to have as much of the car colour coded as possible to the paintwork and also have clear indicators overly ugly orange. However as this car is now a 'Classic' hothatch i think it makes sense to go back to factory fit styling with the indicators. However the morette twin headlight conversion is lovely, id take that over stock anyday.
Canni wait till you get my mates car on your channel iv been watching you since the subaru as you are on some of the subaru pages and seen you asking to give you youtube channel a follow 👌

very nice car adam,i love my fast fords!your escort is tasty!
The font on that ford badge is completely different to the original, id stick an original one on for sure on a cossy
"It fitted like a primark Tshirt", we all had a moment of similarity with knockoff parts.... nice to see the Cossie come together....
nowt wrong with primark lol
@@B3llyFl0pyeah man nothing wrong with primani
Warm it with a heat gun

It looks so much better with the orange indicators and clean side lights back in, keep up the work mate
Would not fit anything but oem parts to a car like this, but good to see it coming back to stock .
💯 mate, those Chinese after market parts look cheap and nasty and it takes away from that lovely Cosworth
Top tip, put a bin bag in the bucket. No clean up and just lift out cut the corner and empty back into the empty oil bottle 👍
Top tip 2 have another 1.99 bucket for oil changes

I was thinking the same Nick
Yeh I would say coil pack change , new fuel filter & a maf sensor
My money is on coil pack too, Older rs legacy’s do the same thing
Agreed, with older cars like this (which I'm going to keep) I change plugs, coil packs, leads, oil and fuel filters and cam belt (if not chain), regardless

Nah morettes for the win
Morrettes all the way
I agree, standard lights for me
Definatley needs standard headlights now to finish the front off.its coming up a treat now.
He has bought standard lights so they will go on I expect

That Ford script on the badge looks different to the original - I’d go and buy a genuine one if I were you.

Great to see the Cossie coming together. Those little jobs make a big difference. 👍
It’s worth noteing keep checking the bulb holders on ya side lights I did same on mk5 van and the bulb melted the plastic surrounds on both sets
Adam : "I do have the foglights in ehhmm the kitchen". Proper car guy :) Please use soapy water / universal clean spray as lubrication when using the wire to remove the Ford badge. Goes a lot more smooth :)

They will have been keyed up before painting so likely ruined.
Some plastics don't take kindly to paint stripper chemicals, try it on back first.

“A midgy’s knacker” killed me 😂 love from Dubai Marina, Dubai
Loving this series. Would love to see some standard headlights and wheels go on
Sorry Nick, Ive bought some new wheels, theyre not standard
Rondells? Them and the remade 18 inch version of the standard wheel are my favourite. @@Adam151082

Rondell 122’s 👌🏻
@Adam151082 we need other cars reviews like what u was doing b4 u get the cossie
Is that a Bailey's dump valve. Check that it's sealing properly at idle as it could be the cause of the lumpy idle.
Love the holiday video playing in the background.....hairdryer heats the glue to remove the badge.
No wonder it was glued in. It’s soo easy to take off
I'd definitely just buy a new bucket for washing the car instead of cleaning that one out 😮
I’m still wondering whether that was some sort of windup. I hope I’m right 🤔
It cleaned and back in service 🤷🏼♂️
😂
Adam get yourself a battery ratchet mate. They’re a god send in the motor trade. 👍👍
Try letting the painted indicators soak in a container of brake fluid. It may well remove the paint. I've also had success stripping paint using washing tablets/gel capsules.
Takes a while, but was very effective.
I love the clear indicator lenses... It's was the first mod I done on my Mercedes Benz 190E cosworth
Great to speak to you early Saturday morning at the NEC a few weeks ago👍 keep up the videos and great channel………everyone’s favourite “have a go hero”
You to Steve. Thanks for the comment 😊👍🏼

Loving these videos, it's always the 2 minute jobs that become a right pain.😅
I’d get rid of the morettes Adam, never thought they suited the escos
If it got to the point where you replaced all sensors and that I'll be looking at the wiring loom for bad earth's or broken wires maybe ecu
It looks like it could do with a new cambelt adam.

I must’ve been asleep in maths when the measurement “a midges knacka” was discussed. Is it metric or imperial? 🤣
This car is looking great now, and more factory❤.
Easy and satisfying to restore original front badge as well pal. Live the colour still. Lucky bigger ❤😂
Looks awesome mate. I'd be tempted to put a couple of nyloc nuts on that splitter or some spring washers, if you haven't already
What a way to start a Baltic Sunday, great work, Adam.
Adam use a mudflap c-clamp to hold the splitter at the corners 👍🏼
Well done Adam looking much better. There's certainly been some crap repairs in the past. You'll get there mate 👍
Definitely like the twin lamps and rs500 grilles with the ambers 100% 💯
For catching the oil Adam, there is catch can trolly on the market you can get there about £80.
Don’t forget, add a touch of Copper Slip to the spark threads

your turbo thanks you for some fresh oil to actually work properly with
you have your own ramp now, why get bert to do your brakes ?
keep them coming young man
Try change the HT leads as they break down you can measure the resistance 16,000 ohms per meter is norm from memory
Car is coming along very well, you sure can find all the hard to get pieces 👍
Would personally buy another front Ford badge as the slight difference in font compared to the original would bug me🧐
Just buy a genuine one not an eBay spesh, surely they still sell them maybe not?
Same with those side repeaters, I mean if you’re having to use air grinders to get them to fit in then they’re definitely not worth using
Looking good Adam, do like the factory look if I'm honest, looks how it was intended to look, on that note, it would be lovely to see it back on an original set of wheels, I know it's a personal choice, as is everthing, but it would look good😊

Absolutely not what? Brake fluid will strip 2K and lacquer paint safely from clear plastic parts, I’ve done it many times …
+ Obviously don’t immerse the complete part in it as it’ll eat any rubber seels! You’d need to apply it to a cloth and drape it over it, but it’ll remover the paint safely
Always look forward to the Cosworth vids 👍🏻
As a detailer for a living please buy a new bucket for the sake of £1.20 from Halfords, I’d also recommend highly lose the sponge and buy a wash mitt
Great video Adam , loads better getting rid of that after market tat ! I would put origbal headlamps back in , just like them to get the way Henry ford wanted lol , good luck looks good 👍👍👍👍💪
But he just replaced them with cheap, after market Chinese crap 🤷🤦♂️
You can paint strip the paint off the original ines it wont affect the plastic
Worth saying, when you’re refilling the engine oil, it’s usually 1 litre oil between minimum and maximum on the dipstick.
Cossie is coming together nicely now Adam as for the misfire id replace the coil packs or the maf sensor
Looks loads better with the original lights back on makes the car mint

Always wipe your bulbs if you aren't wearing gloves. Ever wondered why the same one burns out sometimes?
Did I miss you fixing the misfire ?
Love the lingo premark etc love it. Coming together nicely
I'd say give wet sanding a go to remove the paint off those indicators.
I do wonder though if they scuffed them up to make that paint stick better 🤔
fishing line to remove badges for a good clean removal
Dental floss or fishing line with a hair drier for removing badges
Can you still get the original Ford badge? Little things like the font being different would do my nut in 😂 I’d try wet sanding the paint off those side lights first
Looks way better do your self a favour change that timing belt asap
Escort keeps fighting back, nice to see is slowly converting to the car it use to be...
A spark plug should not be nice n black this indicates too much carbon deposits (possible mixture issue) or other issue. Spark plug should be dark brown ideally
You are totally right about this, a good running engine would have a beige colour on the spark plugs or as you described a sandy colour.

Made me laugh when you mentioned the dental floss😂
Are you going to get rid of the Moretti head light conversion and eventually re-spray this car?
Hi had to do exactly the same with the repro sidelights
The arrangement of the rear badges never sat right with me on the small turbo cossie, maybe something to consider adam😉
Good stuff, getting back to its former glory 👌
Never use that sponge again after it touches the floor
Grit n paint don't mix 😢
Great progress on the car lad 👍🏻
Maybe the “floppy” end to the splitter is active aero!
You need to start using a heat gun to get those badges off. Makes the job a lot easier.
