This is AMAZING tight playing - I was and still am a big fan of Jeff Lorber! As a side note, back then (2006) a gigabyte was a super huge amount of storage on a hard drive (and I guess most people hadn't even heard the term "terabyte" yet - unless you were in the computer field:-) Also, a gigabyte of storage space would have been quite expensive (I suppose maybe the same as a whole computer tower/system now :-)
I just wonder whether pianists of this magnitude get irate or bothered during live on-stage performances when there is so much movement, motion, jitter, etc. in the keyboard platforms because of the geometry of the supporting architecture. It would drive me friggin nuts, and I don't even play keyboard. Digital is good in some respects ….portability, micro-sizing, weight reduction, but all those virtues are offset to a degree by trade-offs. Mr. Lorber, please weigh in...….
Jeff Lorber on keys
Nathaniel Phillips on bass
Marlon McClain on guitar
Gerald Albright on sax
Ricky Lawson (RIP) on drums.
KILLER LINE UP!
Thank You Bro.
Nathaniel is killing :-)
Yes! And they complement each other so well. Looks like they really enjoy making music together. That's awesome!
Eat your hearts out - I'll be hanging out in the Caribbean with this bad boy on the 2022 Smooth Jazz Cruise
So tight! Outstanding musicians!
You're right, Sean!
Best Jeff Lorber performance ever!
The late Mr Ricky Lawson on drums. Gone but not forgotten... R.I.P
Very sad, we keep on losing too many great talented musicians at a very young age
Jeffs best, so very on point it's off the planet Albright's brilliant, what else need's saying i'll go back to listening.
To listen to music full of talented musicians fills my heart up
Music is medicine

Any musicians out there? Gigabytes melody line seems to start on an off-beat or in front of the natural tempo. True? What is that called?
Syncopation
It's just behind the beat, Philly style
@@tobybaker7968 thank you...love it...Lorber used the timing to give the tune some character.
The use of the off-beat piano entrance or unconventional time signature....says it all.
