Whoa! £15k! That will buy you nothing more than a wreck! Bought my 3 owner, 70,000 mile, full Aston service history DB9 last year for just under 26K and that’s the lowest I’d dare go!😬
Had a 2008 model for 2.5 years now and love it to bits. I definitely see it as a sportier GT than say a Bentley continental. Mine has the later sports pack suspension which is better than earlier models but the shocks still leak eventually. The secret to loading the boot is soft bags, can easily pack enough for a week abroad and we have used it in Europe every year. It only gets positive attention and is not bad on fuel considering what it is.
Sounds like you have really gelled with your DB9, that's really cool to hear. Have you had many reliability issues apart from the known issue with the original shocks?
@ no nothing really apart from servicing. It is the kind of car where it’s beneficial if you can do your own tinkering. I’ve had to re-seal the rear lights as they are known to collect water and fail but mechanically it has been 100% reliable.
Got to love an Aston, especially a V12. Gorgeous car and sound..... Time has been a bit harsh on auto gear changes and duality of handling (ability to be both GT and sports car-ish) Nowadays 1700kg would be deemed almost light..... Use the rear seats for luggage and soft bags for the boot...... A lot of car for the money....... A couple of familiar roads there from my driving youth Nice video
Thank you Tom…you are absolutely right, time is a harsh master for many of the old classic luxury cars. It is always important to evaluate them based on their period. Still one of the best looking GTs that successfully bridged the gap between sports car and GT.
Got an '07 DB9 Volante and adore it! If you are stuck for luggage space, you can always use the rear seats as it's classed as a 2+2 really. Only mechanical issue I've had is a new upgraded radiator after it blew a hole. Just not sure about removing the cats though.

I've had an '05 for nearly a year - it's definitely a GT car, but it will be perceived as a supercar anywhere you go especially with the right spec

Try a 2013/14 version in Sport mode, with adaptive damping and carbon brakes. It’s every inch a supercar!

Yes the cats so close to the exhaust ports is a constant concern with the DB9 hence why many have the modification as this car did.
A lot of your miss speaking and presenting issues can be resolved by just panning to shots of the car and speaking over it.
