This is the Tenth episode of season 2 in this Hardcore Space Engineers Survival Series. This week we finally get to work on a bunch of stuff around the base; a new tower, furnishing the communication area, and building the bunker and drone docking facility in preparation for the new Grid AI update.

Just saw you got millions of views on your zomboid videos - so it makes sense why you abandoned this series. I know my opinion is worth basically nothing compared to those metrics, but this was my favorite series on youtube & it's what brought me here. I hope you'll bring it back someday.

Woah, congrats on being sponsored! I had an Idea - what if when you finish this series, you use the world as a campaign world that you and Erock10r and Swypht can have like a story driven campaign? Finding out what happened to all the settlers that arrived and got wiped out or something like that. Finding all your old vehicles and outposts in different states of destruction and usefullness and trying to reclaim the sector for humanity or something like that. I would be really excited to see that.

When in doubt, add drones and neon. Also, you might toss some emergency O2 tanks in those containers in the coms tower, just in case it inevitably is breached during a reaver attack..

I think that the reason this series is such a must watch every episode for me is that you started with a handicap you won't ever overcome. The challenge won't ever go away, so you must continuously keep solving the problem of not having a suit.
It's why I keep watching at least! Every episode, you have to overcome that problem, and seeing how you do, is so enjoyable.
@Madmavn as i rewatch the NSS series i got to you being chased by reavers and notice the biggest flaw in the ship design ... the cockpit location and the "poor" level of protection there is... all the reavers need is a or few good hit on your front window, or close to your location to make a breach and vent oxygen... So maybe create a secondary cockpit very near your survival kit and conveyored to give you a chance to survive and escape.
Love the videos. Still think a rotor turret would be a good idea against the revers.
Yeah, a klang turret on some towers would be pretty cool but wouldn't want em too near the main base

You should have erock and swyphd guest star in one episode of NSS just to give your subscribers a taste of what Skyjack is like in case they only watch this one. Also, the people in the coms tower would put backup gear, survival equipment and weapons in those crates. Given that the tower is meant to be a self-contained area that can cut itself off from the rest of the base if needed, the personnel assigned to it would have have backup gear in those crates to ensure they can operate to restore the main base during an attack.

Yet another video that just nails it, nice work man. Maybe use the VCZ multifloor elevator mod to get to the bunker, might just fit the vibe when that elevator opens into the bunker.

Hm, instead of having a wide docking station for the drones, you *could* make them more "expendable", by instead having an automatic printer for new drones after one launched and a scrapping-pit for deconstructing the used drone and any drone parts lying around after the fight. :)

Soo, can we expect spectator cam to be sat on the loo next time? At least then he can be sat in both comfort and out of sight, no more jump scares :)
I think for my own sanity the bathroom would be the best place to hide the spectator. Prior to this episode the spectator was always in the Mauler in one of the bedrooms.
Regarding Repair projectors, I can only recommend the "multigrid projector extra" mod, which adds a "load repair projection" button in the projectors terminal, which makes the whole ordeal of creating a blueprint and loading it with correct alignment obsolete (works only if there is no projection already loaded).

When you said we don't need 10 drones at one time my mind just went and said you probably will at one point or another. Also would be good idea to have a drone minor repair bay that you don't need to unpressurize your whole base to do. maybe just a small 3-4 welder wall underground near the parking spot for the drones.
should add welders under each drone connector with an independent projector for each number drone, since each drone already has a projector, you can repair each after a battle, or replace it without having to rename each thing and group.

Just wondering if this playthrough is going to keep going. its been 9 months so im assuming no but just wanted to say i loved this series
I really like the slight improvement to the drones, in my experience the camera always goes first so multiple layers of glass plus the AH LCD is just so helpful, I got so tired of the enemy cockpit sniping me I don't even use them anymore, if it is a manned craft I manually build a cockpit with blocks and a control seat and add whatever lcds I want, it seems much better since if stray rounds hit one window the others are still fine
I mean, sure, the overhang didn't serve any special purpose. but just think about how cool would be to have massive doors in there. you could use 3 hangar doors, the middle one being held by a piston, and other two in front and behind the piston to hide it, then you just make everything open together like a big maw.
You NEED 10 drones! Do it! Or, have another tier of more advanced fighters

Same, I don't usually watch the episodes as they come out. I find it's more fun to let them come out and then set a day to just watch all of the new ones.

You might want an antenna down in the bunker as well. If the base goes, there is no way to controll the drones.

Watching this series has made me want to get back into Space Engineers after I quit due to clang. Maybe not a no-suit survival, as that looks torturous, but I definitely feel the urge to build again.

I've only recently discovered your channel and have finally caught up with your playlists, I've really enjoyed them and look forward to seeing more. With regards to your living quarters expansion, perhaps you could make three different tiers of blueprinted modules, one with five beds, a slightly nicer one with two beds and finally a luxurious single bed module. Then you could make enough that you could put the names of your patrons on an lcd by the door of them to show them as being the residents of those modules. Secondly I was wondering if it is possible for the tunneller to fit INSIDE one of the large grid connector airlocks made by Zardo?
Is the new tower only connected by that single surface pipe? Given your experiences with connections at the mine, it might be wise to have some redundancy in case the connection gets shot or hit by some debris.
Hmmm.... So just move the first tower away from the base. Also I think you should put those conveyor lines underground or when they can damaged your towers are going to be hurting.

Seeing the big tunnel randomly got me thinking of a matrix style playthrough. Where the player starts in a small base at the center of a planet and there are random tunnels spread throughout and the further you get from the center the more dangerous robot drones there are. And the goal is for the player to fight their way to the surface.
I think there was something like that on another channel, but I do not remember whose it was.
What if. We built a new tool. One that wraps around the front. With two walls of welders. On two pistons. So you can drive up to a wall or section. And build from the middle outwards like a printer. Then retract back to center to finish.
To simplify the construction process and repair entire walls in one move?
Also Time to bury the antenna for the drones. Lest it be damaged in combat

Until the new update, you can put the remote control blocks of the drones on the hud bar of the cockpit for quick access
Look into the VCZ elevator mod. I have used it for years and it works great. Much better than ladders. Also much prettier.

I think you should hang the drones from the ceiling making it possible to put like 20 drones in the bunker and launch them like TIE fighters.
Also... make them look like TIE fighters.

Symmetry often is a builder's biggest hurdle.
Allow me to explain why you are fooling yourself: I've over 10 years experience with level-design and my own company utilizing this experience. Also, I have OCD. At some point I found myself at the same hurdle as you are now where I wanted symmetry where in reality I had to learn on utilizing the environment I created pretty much always resulting in unique creations. In this case, a center stairway is nice to have in a mansion.
You could've set it to the side and using the extra space on one side to add a hydrogen storage tank. Situated under the base it would've served as hypothetical refuel station and it would also hypothetically so be save from outside influences. Alternatively you could put down anything else, you get the idea.

have not made it this far yet, still on ep 16-ice, just wanted to jump ahead and ask if you found out that you can put an air vent outside on depressurize and hooked to a tank as long as there is oxy even if it says there is non you can suck up atmo oxy, so vent outside tank and vent inside bam you got air and that works for all places that have atmo oxy and all ship stations you person will not breath if the "PRESSURE" is to low

i choose to believe the player in this scenario actually does have a space suit, bc its ridiculous that they have the ability to build a whole forward operations base and not a spacesuit, but just has severe anxiety/ptsd about the emptiness of space and repeated painful revivals after the countless jetpack related deaths back when they were stuck in a canyon with no thruster blueprint.
or maybe it makes more sense they just happened to lose the spacesuit blueprint... nevermind, that makes far more sense
