Amino Acid Treatment

  • Hey my beauties! This cutie pie came in for her amino acid treatment. The amino acid treatment will help to instantly repair breakage, dryness, reduce humidity frizz and smooth out tangles. No matter who you are or curl pattern (or lack thereof) EVERYONE has the same 22 amino acid links in their hair. Since amino acid is the building blocks for the hair strand if there is something off about your hair, start with repairing your amino acid base. She only had to come in a few times a year to get her treatment so it’s not something you have to get so often once you get your hair back to normal. The reason I push so much about getting your treatments is because you want to build a good foundation to get color and then continue with treatments to maintain healthy color. ENJOY!!!

    Hi Rachel, do you still recommend this treatment in 2024 and is this something I can get if I am actively growing out my relaxer?
    Also, do we use regular shampoo and conditioner on shampoo days or are there specific products we should use for maintenance. This is really a great alternative, thanks for sharing.

    • @RachelOliviaHair
      @RachelOliviaHair  14 днів тому +1

      @@LillianPearson-Dryer yes absolutely. As far as it goes with the transition it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want more smoothing then I would go with a keratin treatment if you’re looking for something that would prevent breakage then I would suggest the amino acid treatment. But as I always say make sure you do a consultation with a licensed beauty professional! I hope this helps 💕🫶🏾

    When you say it has to be grown out, does that imply it’s permanent like a perm. And you have to have your roots touched up every few weeks or months?

  • @francoiseholley9974
    @francoiseholley9974 4 роки тому +5

    Hello. Can an amino acid treatment and a semi permanent or permanent dye service be done in the same day, or does these services have to be done on separate days? Also is an amino acid treatment similar to a keratin treatment and is it more beneficial for the hair?

    • @RachelOliviaHair
      @RachelOliviaHair  4 роки тому +13

      Francoise Holley Hey! The amino acid treatment can be done the same day as a color according to the manufacturers instructions. However, I will say that depending on the color line you use you have to be aware of over saturation of the amino acid treatment because it can shift the tone of the color making it a warmer tone than what you’re looking for. The amino acid treatment is not like the keratin at all. The keratin does not penetrate the cuticle whereas the amino acid treatment goes beyond the cuticle and into the cortex to repair the hair. The keratin washes off over a period of time whereas the amino acid treatment stays in the hair and grows out. They’re both beneficial, but it just depends on what the client is looking for along with what the hair needs at that time.

    Hey, her hair looks beautiful! So I've heard people call this the "6 month silk press" but when this girl goes to wash her hair, wouldn't her hair go back to being curly? Still at that looser curl pattern with more manageability, moisture and shine, but it wouldn't carry the look of a silk press for 6 whole months, right? I'm thinking about getting an amino acid treatment, but I'm not sure to what to expect in terms of proper maintenance.

    • @RachelOliviaHair
      @RachelOliviaHair  3 роки тому +2

      I haven’t heard people refer to it in that term but I will say that it does help against humidity and frizz so that might be why. As far as loosening of curl that really depends on the stylist and what degree of heat they use so it’s best to do a consultation to see what’s best for you. I personally haven’t experienced loosening of curl but have noticed that clients experience more manageable and their hair is easier to comb. I hope this helped! 💕

      I have never experienced losing natural curl with this treatment for my clients. Hi this is my first time hearing of this type of treatment. For a person that does not apply chemical base products such as relaxers or dyes, do you recommend this treatment? Are there hair care products that you may recommend using that contains idk high level of amino acids or basically products that would be considered a grade level down from a amino treatment?

    • @RachelOliviaHair
      @RachelOliviaHair  3 роки тому +3

      It sounds like you don’t like for anything to penetrate beyond the cuticle and this product does that to repair the hair from the inside out and because of this I would not recommend you get it. It’s meant to restore from the inside at the cellular level. Unfortunately I don’t know of any conditioners that contain amino acid at this time but I’m pretty sure there are some on the market. If I hear of any I could circle back around to let you know but in the meantime check with your local beauty professional for a consultation to see what would be best for you.

      @@RachelOliviaHair Thank you so much for your detailed response !! I came across some of your old videos that I had save and was excited to see you were still active on YT! One last question lol on one of your old videos you have a detailed explanation on the difference between shedding and breakage. I tend to wear protective styles majority of the time; when I wear sew ins my hair tends to sheed more than if I wear box braids. I mean a nice amount! I wear both styles at least two months but the shedding amount is always different. Sometimes I feel like I experience more breakage with a sew in. Now I don't wear traditional sew ins, I basically sew the weave to cap and sew the entire piece down. Have you ever seen someone experience more damage or shedding from weave installs than box braids???

    • @RachelOliviaHair
      @RachelOliviaHair  2 роки тому +1

      Oh my I don’t know HOW I missed this response and follow up question! My apologies!!!! I don’t do either services so I can’t say for sure. I would guess that maybe it’s because with a sew-in there’s usually continuous braiding and that might be why there’s more shedding whereas box braids it broken down into individual sections so there less likelihood for the new growth to tangle together. Again I’m not an expert in the extensions department outside of iTips but that’s the best guess I can come up with LOL!

      @@RachelOliviaHair girl no worries!! Better late than never 😂😂 but I can see your logic and that makes a lot of sense. Not to mention the hair under a sew in is concealed under A cap vs the scale being open with box braids. I love wearing both styles but sew in are easier to manage over time. Box braids tends to weigh ur head down over time and becomes heavy vs a sew in that I can just pin up and go! As always I appreciate your feedback and great discussions. Be blessed and stay safe 🤗🤗

      We all have the same 20 amino acid links so I don’t think they’re going after a specific one. When your hair is damaged or severely dry one or more of the 20 links are affected. I’m not sure of the specific technology in the KMB brand that knows how it knows which one to repair, patch up or replace. I’m sure those details are protected by their chemist. I hope this answers your question. 💕
