For those who may not know what she's doing with the tips of her arrows, I believe Lilly is using metal arrow shafts with screw-in arrow heads. Target arrowheads are just conical tips that screw in place, but they unscrew easily, especially when twisting the arrow to get it back out of a target. A good habit when using those aluminum (or whatever) shafts is to always check the tips and retighten them when you pull them out. That way they go into your quiver pre-tightened and ready to be shot again, with little chance that being jostled around in the quiver as you walk or whatever will cause them to unscrew the rest of the way and fall completely out, leaving you with a pointless arrow shaft.
(*Unless your arrowheads are glued/slotted in place, then don't twist, as that'll break the glue. But that mostly only applies to low-tech arrows without screw-threaded sockets, and far fewer of us use those. *eyeballs her fellow SCAdians*)

This is the first time I'm commenting on one of your videos but I've been watching a long time now (a bit more then a year). I just wanted to say, that I can't put my finger on it but there is some positive change that has gradually overtaken you in the past few months. It could be a greater sense of confidence combined with the benefits of living a more outdoor life or it could just be that your body is more tone and stronger looking? Whatever it is, keep it up, it looks really good on you.
Mark Preudhomme I've noticed the difference in Lilly, as well. I've been watching her since close to the beginning of her channel. Something is different and it's nice to see. She smiles a lot more and looks to be having a better time. I'm happy for her, regardless of the cause.
Love your videos!! I'm just starting in the bow hunting practice. I got my first archery class last week. Thanks for sharing your skills and techniques.
good call taking the range marker tape off and just shooting instinctively. You can't do both.. the markers will distract your aim from what your brain knows is correct. Nice shooting.
As a bow-hunter I can testify that 3-D shooting frequently will give you a real edge in the field. Changing elevations, light conditions, amount of cover and stance all impact your range judgment. I actually don't 3-D shoot very much, so I just wait till the deer wander inside of 20 yards from my tree stand so I can do a flat shot on them.
Not just bow-hunters. I hunt with black powder where you only have one shot, except with a double barrel shotgun, and it really helps to practice often in a variety of conditions.
It's also good for knowing where the vitals are from other angles. For the best practice, turn (or better still, have someone else do it while you're not looking) all the targets to different angles each session, and remember that knowing when to pass on a questionable shot is also a skill to be practiced.
Very nice shooting. Glad to see you using a recurve. Everyone seems to be using compounds now, but my dad used a recurve and gave it to me when he quit hunting. Thanks
All American Prepper strongly approves of your shooting the last dodo in the face, they were a threat to our children and were sent by satan. Seriously though that is the most amazing archery range I have EVER seen!
Love seeing a confident instinctive shooter. So many people second guess and doubt their own instincts. Great for you getting to the root! Also, when retrieving arrows, try bringing your shoulder in line with the shaft and use the same muscles you use to draw the bow. Draw it straight out with one hand on the target. Prevents bending/binding, and uses the same muscles you already developed to shoot. Also, it's awesome seeing a lovely young woman do all the badassery and gritty stuff you do. Strong woman providing a great role model for others
loved this video, and your channel.I've been doing archery for about 6 or 7 years now with a compound bow and just last year i started using a traditional recurve.I really love the archery and the enjoyment i get from watching an arrow fly by.My dad says he's going to take me on a turkey bow hunt in a few weeks, so i'm really excited!Keep up the good work!
How could you kill all those poor defenseless animals, its like they were just standing there, like statues, and you had to go and take their life. smh
@Winfield Johnson I beg to differ. For people used to shoot at FITA target faces, on fixed and known distances, a 3D course will be confusing as hell. And here's why, distances on 3D are unmarked so you don't know them, all you know for traditional and bare bow for adults will be set at a max of 27m, you can estimate, but, they are set up especially in a way to throw you off guard, and the different sized foam animals don't help either, like close range a rabbit, medium range a deer, then somewhere in between a bear to get the illusion that it's either closer or further out than it looks. After that, there are no bright colors on the scoring ring on the foam animals to focus on properly.
I am not a frequent commenter on videos...but this was awesome! I wish I could've grabbed my bow and joined you to shoot the targets. The way this video was shot, it made me feel like I did. GREAT JOB BTW! You hit a good amount of targets very well. Good job to camera man too.
I have just taking up archery again after a 40-year off spin are not doing it due to work but watching the video of the young lady showing how it's done by various artists does inspire you to carry on doing what you wish to do in the future and also using targets as they were do make things more exciting turn just shooting at around target with a Bullseye and also the environment and area does help I have learnt something from watching the video I am grateful for that
I am very impressed with your many woodland skills and knowledge. I must say, your archery skills have improved greatly. The erratic arrow flight is a matter related to the arrows needing to be matched to your bow. You are an impressive young woman. Make a pilgrimage to a place where you can hunt with your bow and well-matched arrows with broad heads. You go girl!
Awesome! Great course for training for judging different distances & elevations, not as easy as a one might think, especially when shooting instinctively.
Lilly - I have endless amounts of wild boar and Axis Deer at both my Ranches in Texas. They're not native animals to Texas you can hunt them all year round.
I never ceases to amaze me how fast a wild animal can move when they hear the bow string twang. I have seen a deer at 40 yards jump at the sound and have the arrow go right underneath. It really makes bow hunting quite a rush.
Up hill or down hill use the 10 yd mark . The only thing besides wind is gravity . Only horizontal distance effect the flight of the arrow ! The arrow need to be as close to identical as possible ( or at leased very close to the same balance point )
jon reeck But they are alive and well.... And they do not have to kill other animals to survive? Are you one of those internet tough guys that think eating meat is manly and cool yet cannot watch a slaughterhouse video?
Growing up hunting in Michigan with a recurve, all shots in hunting situations with deer were instinctual, and more likely than not a "snap" shot. Meaning, a quick draw and release. It's a good thing to practice. With a compound in a tree, you have time to draw and aim on the dots. I never really liked hunting with a compound, just waited for November and gun season.
Great job, and fun video! You shot so much better when you decided to trust your own instincts. I can see a lot of hours practicing went into that. Personally, when I was bow-foraging back in the day, I preferred to carry a sword as well in case things got... complicated. Since so much of this kind of hunting is about being able to get crazy close to the quarry, It doesn't hurt to have some kind of sidearm, just in case. Some bowhunters bring a .357 or .45 backup pistol, especially with boar & bear, just in case. Have you considered trying the old style of holding 3 arrows at once (there are various versions) so you can get off repeater shots in quick order? It seems like a fun challenge that I'm going to try if my wrists will let me get back into archery again. Thanks for continuing your work; I always enjoy your videos!
Huntsman Outdoors: Yah, a sword! It's quiet (!) so it doesn't spook the whole forest, good at both cutting and fending things away, finishing things off, dealing with snakes, poking into stuff, etc. A lot of people carry bowie knives or even machetes, but I prefer a long blade plus a tomahawk and/or other throwable sharp things. Then you can go to a boot or fillet knife that is good for more finesse work instead of having to pretend it's an axe. You could even go to a stainless chef's knife on your belt. You end up finding all kinds of practical uses for a "long pointy bladey metal rodlike axelike hammerlike leverage thing" while moving around out in the woods and shores. The right camp sword & sheath is like 3 feet and 3 pounds of pure usefulness, and it gives you a some range effect with infinite ammo. Anyway, if I ever were to end up in a close-order situation with an ornery puma or boar or black bear, a big flashy "tooth-claw-thing" with long reach could be handy. It's gotta be better than trying to bash them over the head with your bow. As for dealing with anything less naturally well-armed than these... well, that's exactly what swords are designed to do. There's a fun YT channel by a HEMA guy named "Skallagrim" where he sometimes tests blades in various ways beyond their usual intention. His video: "Testing the Zombie Tools Diphos (even smashing a knife!)" and the followup: "REVIEW: Zombie Tools Diphos - A post-apocalyptic tank sword" might give you some bushcrafting/survival ideas of your own -- like, no more tedious batoning or even an axe for small trees. That particular sword is a bit over-the-top styling (I'd rather take a single-edge design like a "grosse messer" with similar toughness etc), but that makes it all the more fun :) So that's my version of "What the actual f..." It's a bit of a re-profile of the typical kit, and it served me well for years in the field. - - - - - s-geek: I guess you could take it as far as you like, but I've seen mongolian-style archers use a different draw and load technique, and Lars' videos showed some other systems than what he settled on in the end. I don't like stuff with a 10-second reload time, which is why the sword comes in handy too :)
3 arrows ? you are watching too much youtube. she said she was practice hunting, not war. Lars Anderson did show us how ancient warriors used a bow in battle. In hunting, like Lilly said, a single shot. As hunter, you do not need a second shot.
Dave: back in the day, I found myself in situations where (especially with narrow moving targets like fish or snakes) I actually did get a second shot. I messed around with two-arrow grips, but modern snap-in nocks made it awkward to reset quickly. I also knew guys who would stick an extra arrow in the ground before a shot so they could snatch it up quick if they needed it. Some things don't run away when you shoot at them -- some things hunker down, or take offense (or get confused) and come back at you. In this video, Lilly seemed to be looking for quick resets on instinctive shooting on multiple targets with the recurve, which is why I suggested it. After seeing it done with three arrows by both Lars and also some Mongolian-style horseback archers, it makes me want to rig up some open-flared nocks and try it again. It's more of a "what's possible" thing. Frankly, I can get close enough to most potential prey to jab them with a pointy stick if I want to -- joik is like that. That's not the issue. The issue is "What's maximum fun, Hobbes?" Mucking around with hybrid and crossover techniques is something to play with on a nice afternoon in the field :)
12:39 The "last dodo on the planet" gets an "ass-shot". 🤣 BTW - in case a beginning archery turkey hunter reads this, that is probably the best shot that can be made on a wild turkey. Wait until it fans its tail and turns with its ass toward you. Its head is momentarily hidden behind its fan and it won't see you quick-draw and shoot as it presents it's vulnerable "ass-shot".
On a big boar don't shoot broadside. Ideal is quartering away so you can place your arrow further back and still drop it in the pocket while staying behind the heavy gristle plate on a big boar
Hi Lilly, nice archery skills, just a tip for you for the next time you shoot 3D targets, you know how the arrows sometimes are hard to pull out of the targets, buy some cheep hand soap like the ones you see in a hotel by the sink, the little thin bars, before you shoot take the soap and slide it from the tip of the arrow to about 4 inches back all the way around the shaft, it only takes a few seconds to do this , you will be happy at how much easier it is to pull them arrows out of the targets, I would drill a small hole in the soap bar and run a string through it so I could hang it on my side or belt loop, it's always there and ready to use in seconds, I used to shoot alot of 3D myself and this works great, shooting 3D is very good practice for you , your doing great, keep practicing with 3D and you will be very confident with a bow in the woods, especially in a survival situation, GO Lilly !!!😁
I'm vegan pretty much all the time, and I love your videos :), don't see why there is a conflict for so many, ethically hunting is vastly superior to factory farms and much healthier for all people and animals involved
So plant based? Bc veganism has to do with not eating animals bc vegans don’t want to kill them. There is no way to ethically kill something that is sentient. It is unnessasary. It certainly isn’t healthier for the animals bc the animals are still killed. Eating meat is still horrible for u bc of the saturated fats and cholesterol. Have a nice day:)
Pineapple Fried rice Hi, yeah I just see hunting an animal that has had a long and free life as a far better alternative to the horrible treatment of animals in factory farms. I also think that wild, unprocessed meat is a million times better for us than the processed and farmed crap most of us end up eating :)
Buzzard Blitz but in the end eatting meat in general costs the life of an animal. I think we should push for not killing animals rather than killing an animal “ethically”. Bc in this case espessially hunting is taking away a happy life. We are going into their homes and taking away their lives. Though the animals aren’t confined in cages ect, in the end they are still being killed. “Cage free” “grass fed” and “free range” are all said to give the animals a healthy life. In the case of the animals being hunted, they are having a happy life, but then their life is taken. So, what I’m saying, is even if the animal was raised “humanely” or had a happy life, in the end an animal is going to be killed when there are alternatives to not kill them. Have a nice day:)
Pineapple Fried rice but I'd also say that from an ecological point of view it's still in the interests of the environment for some people to pursue small scale sustainable hunting in various forms as vast declines in apex predetors mean that animals like deer are often reaching huge populations that can imbalance natural systems. Lots of human populations have historically filled these apex preditor positions so it's still important to hunt to maintain a balance.

Love
Mark Preudhomme you’re a creeper
Something has definitely made an impact in her life, for the better.
No, I just don't necessarily feel the need to comment just because I can. I wait until I have something worth saying, you ought to try it sometime.
Beginning of video... "This is a hunting round, only one arrow per animal"
Third target... "Ima shoot at it again"
If at first you don’t succeed? Lily is no quitter
Love your videos!! I'm just starting in the bow hunting practice. I got my first archery class last week. Thanks for sharing your skills and techniques.

LOL!!
Loved the frog lizard alien thing need more!
good call taking the range marker tape off and just shooting instinctively.
Thanks
This looked like such a fun day. Great hike, scenery and practice. Love it
All American Prepper strongly approves of your shooting the last dodo in the face, they were a threat to our children and were sent by satan. Seriously though that is the most amazing archery range I have EVER seen!
Canadian Prepper loooool :)
Only one issue, CP; that wasn't the face. It looked like the south end of a north facing Dodo to me. Lol.
Still, a good shot.
The Victoria Fish and Game club has a similar 3D archery range, although with less vegetation.
Some bloody marvellous shots...well done you. Nice to know that if it came to it, you will never starve!
This is how Lara Croft started.
BJ Martin Lilly is WAY more hot.
Joe Kazaker No
Love seeing a confident instinctive shooter.
How was the turkey hunt?!
How could you kill all those poor defenseless animals, its like they were just standing there, like statues, and you had to go and take their life. smh
Governor Moose 😂
This woman is sick in the head.
Go ahead and starve yourself with your weak food that grew on animal poop. Then we will see who is sick.
Shutup you vegan
Stephen Carter You eat animals who ate "plants that grew on animal poop" throughout their whole life... XD
Awesome shooting overall. Shooting a bare bow is not easy. Most people won't know how difficult it is.
noel watts what do you mean, "bare bow"?
No sights.
Nice shooting indeed. What draw weight do you use?
Lol, not difficult, just requires a LOT of practice.
@Winfield Johnson I beg to differ.
For people used to shoot at FITA target faces, on fixed and known distances,
a 3D course will be confusing as hell.
And here's why, distances on 3D are unmarked so you don't know them, all you know for traditional and bare bow for adults will be set at a max of 27m, you can estimate, but,
they are set up especially in a way to throw you off guard, and the different sized foam animals don't help
either, like close range a rabbit, medium range a deer, then somewhere in between a bear to get the illusion that it's either closer or further out than it looks.
After that, there are no bright colors on the scoring ring on the foam animals to focus on properly.
Damn, nice shooting. Glad you ended up trusting your instincts instead of relying on your markers. The force is strong with this one. Lol
JustNCase true! Lilly shot better than me with a compound!
Damn! Ain’t messing with her!
I am not a frequent commenter on videos...but this was awesome! I wish I could've grabbed my bow and joined you to shoot the targets. The way this video was shot, it made me feel like I did. GREAT JOB BTW! You hit a good amount of targets very well. Good job to camera man too.
I have just taking up archery again after a 40-year off spin are not doing it due to work but watching the video of the young lady showing how it's done by various artists does inspire you to carry on doing what you wish to do in the future and also using targets as they were do make things more exciting turn just shooting at around target with a Bullseye and also the environment and area does help I have learnt something from watching the video I am grateful for that
Brilliant shooting Lilly.
That place looks awesome! Lots of fun.
Take care
Ha ha! Good to see you out and about!!
Thanks Ralph, hope your well brotha
"ok, now we got my ex boyfriend..."
Ha that’ll show him
Can't believe you shot a Dodo in the arse.
Its, just how the last dodo died.
Actually, they were so unaware of predators that you could hunt them with a hammer.
It was a head shot....Just through and through the long way to the head
Hehe, that shot is what Colonel Jeff Cooper called a "Portuguese head shot"
Texas Heart Shot.
Texas is Awesome for hunting do you had oil.
I never ceases to amaze me how fast a wild animal can move when they hear the bow string twang. I have seen a deer at 40 yards jump at the sound and have the arrow go right underneath. It really makes bow hunting quite a rush.
This woman is awesome, plain and simple.
Up hill or down hill use the 10 yd mark . The only thing besides wind is gravity . Only horizontal distance effect the flight of the arrow ! The arrow need to be as close to identical as possible ( or at leased very close to the same balance point )
Your archery skills are incredible! Makes me want to go practice now. Thanks Lilly!
I know who I want to spend the zombie apocalypse with.

But they are alive and well....
And they do not have to kill other animals to survive?
Are you one of those internet tough guys that think eating meat is manly and cool yet cannot watch a slaughterhouse video?
TheSeattlegreen careful guys it’s one of those tough internet guys that gets easily offended over UA-cam comments.
TheSeattlegreen
You sound really high. Are you ok?
Nice shooting Lily! Those 3D courses are pretty addictive eh! Fun fun!
Lilly I really enjoy your channel. You’ve got me back into Archery! Please keep your vids coming. Thank you for your time! Peace
Shoot 3 arrows quickly like Lars Anderson? :)
That particular sword is a bit over-the-top styling (I'd rather take a single-edge design like a "grosse messer" with similar toughness etc), but that makes it all the more fun :)
So that's my version of "What the actual f..." It's a bit of a re-profile of the typical kit, and it served me well for years in the field.

s-geek: I guess you could take it as far as you like, but I've seen mongolian-style archers use a different draw and load technique, and Lars' videos showed some other systems than what he settled on in the end.
The issue is "What's maximum fun, Hobbes?" Mucking around with hybrid and crossover techniques is something to play with on a nice afternoon in the field :)
whoever is filming, sounds terrified :) You holding them hostage?
Pelle Svensson lol hahaha :)
She didn't deny it so we'll have to be on the lookout for signs of distress. Lol
She's not carrying the camera and equipment around on this one.
12:39 The "last dodo on the planet" gets an "ass-shot". 🤣
BTW - in case a beginning archery turkey hunter reads this, that is probably the best shot that can be made on a wild turkey.
Lilly, warrior princess.
You're having so much fun out there Lilly, hehe.
Pineapple Fried rice yeah I think it's great to realise that we aren't dependant on killing and can change our habits to be more ethical :)
Misses are humbling, but they only reinforce that you can do better on the next arrow fling. Love your form and attitude.
You make shooting a recurve bow look so easy! I don't know too many people who would do any better with a compound bow with sites! BTW your English is amazing! Love your videos.
Good video Lilly, looking good as always !!!
i like to eat " asado ", in my childhood I eat fried frogs, they taste like chicken. i dont have problen if you are the cheff Lilly.
If it tastes like chicken then eat chicken
I eat " ranas a la sarten " when i was a little boy, not now. Im sorry.
Vegans are into survival as well. I'm right here watching! Thanks Lilly for the great videos!
Why? Without bacon, there's no point in surviving.
hahaha just wait until you see the shelter I build with banana peels.
Maybe she will shoot a rubber cabbage in the next video
I hope you never try to survive in the Arctic, in Siberia, in Mongolia..
This video is a few years old at the time of this comment, but if you see this, spray lemon wax furniture polish on the end of your arrows makes them come out of 3D targets much, much easier, but don't hunt with those arrows, animals will smell the polish a mile off.
A product called "scorpion venom" is an oil like lubricant that will Greatly reduce friction making arrow removal a breeze. Hope you find it. Thank You for being you!!!
But now I'm completely disappointed. Where are the vegans in the forest.
I thought they ate forests... no wonder global warming is a thing
@@DarienDragonFox The forests were cut down to provide grazing land for cattle and animal feed.

Lilly. What arrows do you suggest with the Amazon bow please?
Did you set it up yourself, or are there places like this that you can pay for?
I love watching your videos of this kind. It would be wonderful if you could guesstimate the distance before each shot. Thank you!

I was so happy to see you take off the site! I always shoot natural even crossbow. Once you get "The eye" you can place your shot's quickly and accurately. Great video!

Cody Watts a hand grenade is equally to ¼ pound of tannerite it’s not that deadly of an explosion and the shrapnel would be like shooting it a couple times. So all in all a grenade wouldn’t tear them up too bad as long as they weren’t too close to it.
Looks like she s having fun and it's a real skill to be accurate with a bow.
this reminds me of the virtual hunt trails I used to go on as a kid. They were such a blast. Archery golf was fun too. There was a shot I made one time where I was literally aiming up into the sky and my arrow landed like 6 feet away from the 'hole'.

Broken Antler Outdoors You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to be offended. Animal lovers in general would be upset. I myself personally don't care, as long as it's not wasted d: .
As you draw the bow the curve of your back does strange things to me. I guess it’s primal and instinctive as one is drawn to some one who can provide. 😅
Most men aren't "drawn to someone who can provide" because they are doing the providing. They also usually aren't pathetic enough to comment on a chicks looks who is showing off survival skills.

You need an arrow rest on the bow, maybe some velcro or leather on the shelf, It will make it more quiet when drawing the bow.. Have fun
i had been enjoying your channel and love the recurve archery segments! Thanks for sharing! :)

The problem with deer hunting with a bow is scent. A deer can smell you long before you can get close enough to shoot,
There's a place like this outside Ballina in Co. Mayo, West of Ireland called Flybow. Acres of land with numerous artificial animals and targets. Run by a German couple. Fabulous bows and arrows all hand mad by the owner who is a recognised archery expert. Well worth a visit. Used to go there with my son when he was a teenager. Great day out, bring a pic nic.
Great shooting skills with realistic conditions.... good to be able to shoot accurately from different elevations, and distances, through brush and tree limbs and get those clean kill shots.... You did quite well.... keep up the great videos Lilly... you are inspiration to a great many people around the world.
