It sounds like one of the chipmunks might be in season, because they chirp to attract a mate. So it's lovely not only to see such a cute video, but also to hear the noise they so rarely make.
Imagine visiting some giant and it randomly puts out this feast of your favorite foods that you can enjoy with your friends. Those chipmunks are lucky.
Awesome video! I’m kind of sad because around where I live, I won’t see the chipmunks again until Spring. Once it’s below 40 degrees F, they retreat to their burrows for the winter. Can’t wait until Spring, because the squirrels are frustratingly skittish this time of year. Not sure why, because I was hand feeding them just a couple of months ago. 🐿
I live in NW Florida and I just discovered that a chipmunk lives in my yard under an old wood slab lol. Spotted him while sitting in my car. Had to research. Didn't even know we had them in Florida. Rarely spotted but they do live in the NW part of our state.

Nice video. I hand feed wild Eastern Chipmunks, and there is NO WAY they could do this... They are extremely aggressive toward each other, fight constantly to secure their territory, and violently grab food from one another if given a chance. I'm very lucky they let me into their lives, and I can pet one of the more gentle ones... They all are so differently tempered/personality.
@@killerbee2562 Interesting comment, and perhaps you are correct. The pups I've watched seem to love to socialize, play with one another, and tolerate each others company... Then after a few months it all ends.
Should also note these are Siberian Chipmunks, and they are somewhat social, even allowing another Chipmunk in the winter burrow... My Eastern Chipmunks would try to kill each other if a burrow was entered, and I have witnessed many rolling fights that leave the animal wounded, stunned, and visible blood on their coat.
I live in the UK, around 15 years ago we found a breeder/ pet owner that had some for sale. Since then we have had successive generations. We swap and buy other chipmunks with other owners, so the gene pool remains good ( don't want incest breeding ). The law has changed in the UK now. We cannot have Chipmunks as pets anymore. So if you have any, they have to live out their natural life / no breeding. So no more generations ☹😭
Chipmunks diet consists mainly of seeds and nuts. All nuts must be unsalted! We give them mainly: 🥜🌰 Peanuts and/or in the shell. They love to crack the shells. Pumpkin seeds Sunflower seeds Almonds Walnuts Hazelnuts Fruit: 🍉🍎🍐🥭🍇🍅 Blueberries Raspberries Peaches Apples Pears Grapes Blackberries Mango Melon Tomatoes Chipmunks can not have citrus fruits ( such as orange 🚫🍊 ) or fruits that can get stuck in their cheeks. For example bananas 🚫🍌 For young chipmunks we give them pureed fruit. If you don't have a blender you can buy this from the baby food section in store. No added sugar will be fine and as long as it's all natural ingredients. We also give them other foods to bulk up their main dish of nuts and seeds. Porridge oats is great for young chipmunks just coming off milk from their mothers. Easy on the teeth. From a pet store you can get chipmunk mixes. However pets at home in the UK discontinued this years ago. Parrot mix is essentially the same but we just take the dried peppers out. So that can help give them extra things to nibble on such as dried corn and sweetcorn. 🌽 We occasionally give them dental dog chews. Helps them with their oral hygiene and gives them stimulation by being able to chew them. We get them hanging treats designed for parrots. Like hanging unsalted and non-sugared granola bars. Again stimulating for them. There are many other things you can give them. People have been known to give them live mileworms, crickets, hard boiled eggs for protein. We have experimented with eggs. But our chipmunks weren't so keen. But these are the things we give our pet chippies. Hope this helps
They’re not fighting with each other. Are they siblings? I have two tamed chipmunks at my grandparents and I was feeding the newer one but the other/more tamer one got jealous and came out of no where, tried stalking him and pounced on him but he moved out of the way fast enough and got me instead. Lol
They are related yes! Siblings, cousins etc! So that is probably why they are so well mannered. Mine can have a rough and tumble at times , as they are territorial. Very food orientated though my lot 🤣 dinner time and just the cracking of nuts and scoffing on berries 👍
