    🇺🇸 Hi people! Ok I felt like doing a 4K walkaround video again (I did some in Brazil; the last one I did in Mexico was in Culiacan last year). Considering I'd already filmed a regular video in Chihuahua last year, I thought it would be the ideal place. I like watching these videos because you don't have to look at some annoying UA-camr's face and you get to see random things going on! I'm currently in the process of filming a number of videos in NEW locations in and around Chihuahua which will be coming over the coming weeks! *Obviously the point at the end and the names on the monument are relating to femicide - apologies for this not registering in my brain until I walked around the other side!*
    🇲🇽 ¡Hola gente!

    My family is from Durango and we have been through Chihuahua, and it’s one of Mexico’s most beautiful states. Chihuahua is actually nicknamed the “Big State” or “El Estado Grande” in Spanish. It is so big, that if you placed the entire United Kingdom in Chihuahua, there will be 1,910 miles (3,073 kilometers) of area left too cover.

    Chihuahua.. very different from other cities in Mexico, but not that different from other northern Mexico cities.. as you say, it definitely has a more “familiar”/Americanized look/feel.. maybe as some mention, similar to some southwest U.S. cities, but definitely not U.S. ..I like how you described it in one of your videos on your last visit, a “Hybrid”
    (I have been watching a lot of your other videos in Europe and Brazil, and now I will be able to give them a like as well)

    It certainly relaxes your eyes to see so much open space in Chihuahua, similar to El Paso y Ciudad Juarez, one story buildings, plenty of them. Great video David and the one in El Paso too. That old grand hotel was awesome. But you always have the sense of space in these cities, l laughed when you mentioned your grandmother and how Poles are such devote catholics, l read about it before, l wonder if is still true today, probably so, l would visit.

    Great video of my city.
    The "Centro" is the downtown of Chihuahua, and one of the good places to make a walk around. If you want to know other nice places where you could make this kind of videos in this city, let me recommend you mainly "Periférico de la Juventud", and specifically "Distrito Uno", "Paseo Central", "Fashion Mall", "Plaza Tolsa", "Plasa Loreto" and "Cantera Cinco", all those in the same area of Periférico de la Juventud, at western zone of the city.
    Another touristic area you could like it´s near of "Centro", in "Ciudad Deportiva" and the old campus of "Ciudad Universitaria", an amazing green area to relax and walk a while.
    In the north sidea of the city, maybe you could like too the area of "Puerta Norte", "Plaza Urbano" and the new campus of "Ciudad Universitaria".
    Those areas are the best to make a long walking video in Chihuahua City like this one.
    Greetings, and thank you for coming here.

    • @davidostrowski679
      @davidostrowski679  2 роки тому +1

      Gracias! In all these years I've always referred to the main/centre area as Centro even though some cities have about 4 different places called Centro lol. I won't have much time to film more walking videos in Chihuahua as I have other cities in Chihuahua planned and I'm off to Sonora soon... but you never know!

    • @nomhiret.4077

      Your recommendations are ok, but definitely I wouldn't recommend "Fashion Mall". It is the worst mall in the city and I would be embarrassed that people from around the world see that place in my city.
      I totally agree with the rest of your recommendations.

      Having been in Chihuahua three times as a tourist, I would not recommend spending time in the periferico de la juventud, which is basically huge shopping malls that you can only access by car. I much more enjoyed the centre, the deportiva and the presa (unfortunately only accessible by car again). I guess it very much depends on what you are looking for. Anyway, from what I saw from the North is super interesting, the desert, the landscapes are breathtaking. The history is fascinating precisely because it's a border state. Anytime I come back, I discover new things! But definitely no interest in shopping malls 🙂

    • @AlberAlex
      @AlberAlex 2 роки тому

      @@EuropaNovaBrussels If you want to take a more "nature experience", then i recommend to visit the Sierra de Chihuahua, maybe going to El Divisadero, Lago Arareko, Cascada de Cusárare, Basaseachi or Creel City, may like you more than going to Chihuahua City. Here in the city are some tourist companies like Chihuahua Bárbaro, that offers to visitors some travels to our beautiful Sierra de Chihuahua. I must say that Sierra is more like a forest experiencie, if you wanta a dessertic experience, then you must visit Samalayuca, Paquimé or Cuarenta Casas, near of the cities of Juárez and Nuevo Casas Grandes.
      All those recommendations i give to you are inside of the same State of Chihuahua.

    Hi, David... Nice videography and interesting to see Chihuahua city. I would expect the 'El Rosario" shop would likely sell rosaries, don't ya think? There appears to be a lot of really nice high-end cars in Chihuahua. On the one block alone between the double-decker tour bus and the cathedral I noticed 3 Mercedes, 3 Audis, and a Land Rover. On other streets I noticed another Mercedes, 3 other Audis, innumerable Volkswagen Jettas, and some Lexus. Some people must do well there to have those nice cars.
    After I began noticing the number of over-weight people there I couldn't stop noticing them through the rest of the video. I don't think I've ever seen so many over-weight people anywhere else in Mexico.
    'The dog thing' mural is actually the Chihuahua breed! Some of the grand old colonial buildings remind me of El Centro CDMX. That last broad pedestrian boulevard reminds me of the one in CDMX between Torre Latino Americana and the Zocalo, as well as a similar one in Puebla City that has trees on it. The graffiti on the Angel monument is a shame. I've seen the Christopher Columbus monument in CDMX defaced because people had hatred for what it symbolized, but I can't understand why they would have defaced the Chihuahua Angel monument. Makes no sense.

    Very interesting video. I was there when they finally got rid of the tape that didn't let you walk into the parks. It was just strange. One day the tape was there one day it wasn't. Chihuahua is an interesting city because it does have a lot of USA influence to it. La Casona was open, all you had to was open the door. The graffitti was from the woman's day protest, they are names of people who either were abused or got abused. I hope you get those boots, the pointy ones are the best.

    Hi David! Awesome video. I'd recommend spending time in the bohemian piano bars, karaoke restaurants in the "Centro de Chihuahua" where you can relax and have a pleasant evening with friends. You need to go inside "El Palacio Municipal", great colonial architecture to see there. Have a drink and coffee over by "Calle 11" where you have access to the "Mirador" where you can see almost the entire city at night. There's a higher access point that takes you up the "Cerro Coronel". It's beautiful at night! Other people recommended "El Relis" by "Presa El Rejon". Great point too. So many places to visit there, you would need at least a 2 weeks stay to fullh enjoy the city. Safe travels😊🧳🛫

    I really like the mix of this video walkaround with some interactions; its pretty dynamic. David i wanted to know your point of view. For you northern mexico has the same loudness of places in the centre or south or do you find it a little bit less overwhelming ? Or do you see a stark contrast ?

    • @davidostrowski679
      @davidostrowski679  2 роки тому +8

      I think I'll do more of these 'mix' videos when I get time! Re loudness I find the north to be so much more peaceful. I can't deal with the constant shouting down south. A guy delivering water in Chihuahua the other day did it in silence. No WHOOOOOOAAAA OOOOOHHHH AGUAAAAA at 7am. That sound gives me nightmares lol

    • @Gorge1070
      @Gorge1070 2 роки тому

      @@davidostrowski679 Yes , I think northern mexicans would ignore the unnecessary shouting and tell them to shut the fuck up ! Thats a culture shock that we have with our fellow compatriots down south ! If we want your product we´ll tell you !

    I was wondering what Chihuahua looked like. A very good video of the Central City area.
    When I was in Tijuana I was told to stay away from Chihuahua because of the violence there. Kind of strange because Tijuana is the most violent city in the world for the past few years.
    Then when I went to see the Pope’s visit to Juarez, a taxi driver told me that Tijuana was a paradise compared to Juarez.
    Thank you for the video.

    if it were up to me, all of Texas and all of Chihuahua would be on Central time, not just most of both states. All of Chihuahua was in the Mountain Time Zone for 24 1/2 years April 1998-October 2022, now most of Chihuahua is back in the Central Time Zone, only 5 of the northernmost municipalities remain in the Mountain Time Zone, Chihuahua is the only Mexican state to be in two time zones.

      Amazing detailed info! I'll have to read this again properly tomorrow! I was just in a taxi and was talking with the driver about Chihuahua beef strangely enough! I agree it's definitely the best I've had in Mexico. I find it to be 'just right' - not fatty, tender, and flavorsome. I think it could definitely rival some hida or kobe beef I had in Japan! I just had some sirloin montados. Heavenly!

    Nice, jaywalking in Chihuahua. The dog seems to be a big chihuahua dog. The city is nice but it needs more green (remember Veracruz?) of course, there is a drought season there. You could've talked to some people.

      It's not good idea to try turning cities that are in the desert into green cities, it's too expensive and difficult to maintain, it's more convenient to use desert vegetation

    Hola Culiacan es un tanto desconocido para los extranjeros y para muchos Mexicanos,pero dire que es mejor asi,solo les digo que es una ciudad norteña que NO le pide nada al supuesto "primer mundo",hace calor si,pero son tres o cuatro meses,en todo el planeta estan cambiando el clima,no es una ciudad con apariencia sureña como San Miguel de Allende, o otras,,pero es como la mayoria de las ciudades del norte,y es hermosa, estas ciudades mas que estadounidenses me parecen Europeas

    This city has become heavily Americanized over the past few decades. It's a good and bad thing but as you pointed out it does have a sense of familiarity if you are coming in from the US or another country alike. Nice video and you have a good understanding of the downtown than most vloggers.
