Mr. Orden, have you ever heard of the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster?
Why do you not understand that changing the Earth's atmosphere and ocean chemistry with CO2 from fossil fuels, for tens of thousands of years, is a bigger problem for your grandchildren?

It will depend on the battery technology and charging station availability. There are newer gen battery technology that actually will charge must faster, longer battery life, longer range, cheaper and lower weight battery packs will be needed. And I believe they are cobalt free.
Remember, since EV"s are new, at least from a practical standpoint, R&D money is being poured into the development of battery and motor technology and it's a matter of time where people will prefer EV's over ICE, we're just not quite there. How long will it be? That, I couldn't tell you, but the battery technology R&D is more in China, so the US has to start getting on the ball in terms of R&D and msg'ing.
For some vehicles, EV makes sense. Especially for vehicles like light duty work vehicles that have a specific route each day and the range is within the specs of the vehicle. I watched a video of the Ford CEO that was quite interesting. you should check it out.
I do agree that the 2035 deadline might be a little over zealous.
