i remember going up to Ms. Lopez’s office when i was little, like when i was in level 1 and 2. I was 8 and i remember she also has a dog that me and my friend loved to play with. I’m in the ballet bus scholarship program. i’ve seen you in the rehearsals in the studios before my ballet class and i stand there and watch the rehearsals. Honestly your a truly amazing dancer and i want to say i’m very happy you got into the company.
You are such an inspiration and Super Woman!! And please do not ever feel guilty for celebrating the fact that you are doing what you love after all these not-too-great years. I understand how hard personal/professional/ health struggles are and I can’t possibly imagine the pain and grief of the pst 9 years, but this story makes me so happy. I, too, have a few examples of great things that happened on the anniversary of something awful and though it doesn’t make it easier it redeems the day and somehow comforts me. I am so excited and happy for you. You truly deserve all you have worked so hard to achieve. 😀

Really love your stories! You've been one of my biggest inspirations in the past two years and I'm not even a dancer. Or should I say I wasn't a dancer? Because I've been learning ballet as an adult for the past year and will start training again! So many training from ballet also fuels into my other aspects of life, such as finishing my Ph.D. degree! Thank you, Katy and I wish you all the luck in performing! I would love videos on jet gluing your shoes, I know you have put short segments in videos but I would really like a dedicated video for where you should do it depending on you pointe shoes and feet, I would also really like a video on pirouettes and fouettes and how you get over fear of doing them as well as just general technique tips, I know you have done videos on them in the past but I would really like to see updated ones, or on developpes that would be really nice too! so happy for you :)
It would be great if you could potentially do a video on dealing with hard times. I think a lot people can relate to going through YEARS of difficulty, dancers or not.

I met Lourdes Lopez in the lobby of NYCB and told her I'd seen her in the mid-70s when she danced Tchai Pas with Peter Martins! This was in Baltimore. She was so pleased to hear that. This must have been around 1990 already and she was now a principal. She was extremely nice and I remember her warmly.

Back when Peter Martins was still in charge, he turned her down when she asked for a meeting. I don't know about the new management, but NYCB has no shortage of talented dancers gunning for a spot. Their current roster of female soloists are also very strong and there's a lot of recently promoted ones. So even if Stafford or Whelan might be sympathetic to Katie, they already have their hands full with the current roster, and she might have to start at the bottom again.
