Thanks to you and all of your encouragement I’ve stated painting. It’s with my kids crayons water colors and dollar tree brushes but I’ve been completely shocked at how much I love it, how meditative it is, and if I should say so… how well they’re turning out!! I am so grateful for you encouraging us to just start, wherever we are. I love you so much! Lol you’ve helped me a ton! I just went through a really hard season of my life, and painting is what brought me so much joy. I’m in a better place and now I find it’s something I’m itching to do all day! I have four kids - I homeschool them. In the quiet moments of the day I get my little crayola colors and sketch and paint to your videos sometimes I’m free styling and just listending to you talk! Thanks for every video!
Brandie Williams….I think you are a smart, amazing woman and I applaud you! Keep painting, I bet your amazing!👍👍🤗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love them loose before too much detail is done! Love your strokes. ❤
My fave, the last one
Nope, no fave possible. Your work is so beautiful, just the right blend of hard and soft edges. Thanks!
Wow, thank you!
All are beautiful. My fav is the romantic, seems whimsical and breezy. And light
You make it very difficult to choose just one Kristy , they are all quite beautiful because each is very different, but….if I REALLY have to…I LOVE the realistic (?) one the best. Love the way you sketch, I will get there someday but I know it will be at least a millennium, lol, away. Don’t know what I would do without you K, but don’t want to find out!!!. 🙏🏼🥰❤
Ok I learn from watching. This is great thanks ms.rice.
If I wanted to paint a realistic peony ,Id just take a photo.I want my interpretation of a peony ,how they make me feel ,maybe a color I wish a peony was
Just ordered your brushes. Can’t wait to get them.
Hope you love them!
very very nicely done, Kristy
Thank you so much!
Excellent video, Kristy! Just what I needed. Since start of COVID, I’ve been painting from YT watercolor tutorials. I’ve been painting 9x6” greeting cards to send to friends. The most popular subject are peonies, also my personal favorite but to me the most difficult. The tutorials I’ve been choosing have about exceeded my abilities. I’m at the point where I can hardly paint anymore! But this tutorial makes me excited to try again! You make it look so doable!
Wonderful!
You make giddy every time! Thank you for this. I’m working my peonies and roses.
I finally made some that aren’t really goofy!
Wonderful!
I love them all so much!
Peonies are my favorite...each version you did was breathtaking! I can't pick one over the other...🤭
Thank you so much!!
Gorgeous ❤️❤️❤️❤️, I love listening to you, you are a beautiful inspiration to me, thank you so much for making me smile .😀😀😀
You are so welcome
Sooo pretty ❣️
I prefer the romantic version with a little more control and less color. Beautiful and very soft!❤
Love doing this with my new Art for Joy brushes😍
So gorgeous!! Thank you
You are so welcome!
Number 3....love it
I like the classic 1 the best because I like realistic paintings. However I love the romantic 1 too (probably second best, but very close) because I love the movement and romance of it. I am confident in making my version of the cladsic, but I am not sure that I have built up enough skill to express what I see in my head for the romantic style. We'll see. Love this video. Love the options.
Love the romantic one, so beautiful! Thank you Kristy!
You are so welcome!
❤❤this one is my favorite !!
Love them all, but romantic style was my favorite!
Yay!!!
No way can I pick a favorite. I love them all.
🥰
It interesting and nice to see all the different ways to paint the same flower, but it’s also nice to see more realistic flowers done too.I know your teaching people to think outside the box,but you rarely do realistic paintings and I know you have the ability to do that too.I do love what your doing ,and your convincing me not to be so tight with detail! but some people may feel like going up a level too. It might be nice to add those options too, because every one grows each time they paint. I used to paint a lot but life got in the way and I stopped.I am relearning now ,it’s harder when your older but getting there.Flowers and plants were not my thing before but I want to start painting them now.I have been watching for some time.I love your enthusiasm,it cheers me up when I watch you.Thank you.🥰
I like the first one the best and am looking forward to doing it myself. I think what I like the most is the mixed media approach.
You shine. Thanks.
Hello from Tokyo! Great share 😊
Thanks for visiting
I just got your gorgeous palette today. I have so many paints in so many lines (a watercolor junkie) but these colors in your palette are stunning, Kristy. I love them - so vibrant and perfect for floral painting. I am not re-motivated after being in a slump but a month doing birds and insects and using different lines of paints. I am so glad I got these. And this video is a perfect way to break them out.
Wonderful to hear!! Thank you for such lovely feedback!!! Cheers to breaking out of your slump!!
@@KristyRice I just purchased the set of your brushes that are available for sale but the set with the liner is not. Will you be producing more of that set?
All four versions look amazing😍😍
But for me, as a beginner, none of them seem to be doable!
Maybe for next year's peony season, my skills will have improved!
Nothing wrong with trying!
@@KristyRice I agree 😅
Loved this tutorial…. Watched it all the way through even before my first morning cup of coffee☕️. The last one was my favorite, but I enjoyed your process for each flower painting style. I enjoyed the use of white, which is some thing I just start applying in my paintings do you use gouache (sp?)or white watercolor paint? I enjoy the more control approach, because I am learning how to trust and appreciate contrast with shading and the diversity of color❤ and probably the most important part of this tutorial is watching. How you sketch and get the basic shapes in first before detailing. This is such a great tutorial all the way around, and I think the fact that using four styles of the same subject was extremely helpful and for me, my challenge is getting out of my comfort zone and daring to be bold. As you can tell I’m a very cautious person lol.🌸💓🫶🏼
Here I used Bleedproof white. Basically a very intense white gouache. I rarely use white watercolor as it just doesn’t have enough intensity for me.
@@KristyRice yes but it has similar effect as when using black or dark lines. The white used minimally works for me too. White watercolor doesn’t work .. I agree. I will pull out my white gouache to have it handy…. And looked great in your painting🌸
I tend to paint more like the last one so controlled. But, I love the loose fun of the others better. Thank you. Love it all
You've made it very hard to choose a favourite! I think I'm leaning more towards the romantic peony though, it's just so effortless and beautiful. You are so talented ❤️
There is something to be learned with each one of these lovely flowers. I am a big fan of the 4 th, more controlled one. I tend to paint more structured anyway and have a lot of trouble with “ light and airy”. I also am not a big fan of dark backgrounds and so the 1st one is my least favorite. I enjoyed your brush techniques and your green combos on the leaves. There is just so much to learn and enjoy in your videos.💖👍👍🤗
I bought your new brushes today and can hardly wait to get them!!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Yay! Thank you!
Loved watching this one!! Can’t wait to give it a go. I think I like the last one best. I may change my mind when I actually try them. Thank you for sharing your fun teaching style!
Have fun!
Love classic most of all!
Such fun!
Your videos just delight me!! So fun and so creative! Your winsome personality makes it seem so doable! pLUS… peonies are my fav!
Love the graphite pencil one, tried them all. All so lovely
Thanks so much 😊
Painting with you! I call that pencil grip 'overhand' love using it too... ok back to painting.
Love that!
Hi, from Belgium…. Again another “Keigoede” video.. don’t know how to say it in English…love it!❤
I’ll have to look that up!!
I have a friend in Belgium. She always helps me translate. It’s makes me so happy to know what that means.
@@KristyRice its Dutch
It means, she thinks this is a brilliant video,.... i'm from Holland
“Really good”
I love them all!😊
Romantic is my Favorite ~~~ I love its softness
Hello~
I'm a beginner of watercolors who like your paintings and videos in Korea.
Thank you for the good video. ❤
My pleasure 😊
Agree :)
Such a great video! I wish I could tell you how much I enjoy watching and listening to you. You really tickle me and make me want to paint all the time. Great great instruction! Thanks for this!!
I'm so glad!
Congrats on 100k!
Thank you!!
Peonies are my favorite 🎉🎉
Ohhhhhhh. Guess what comes in my mailbox tomorrow? I will wait to paint these tomorrow!
Awesome!!!
I really enjoyed them all! But sometimes I can get so fixated on something that the Moody Peony Would be the one I attempt first. I just loved it when you did the classic one and you started the audio… It made me laugh because you said exactly what I was thinking! Ha ha! Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Kristy ! Love this tutorial ! BEAUTIFUL 🤩
You are so welcome!
Gorgeous! ❤ 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! 😊
Kristy, I liked them all, however, the romantic & classic are my favorites 💗. Guess what? I bought both of your watercolor brushes sets😱!!! And I don’t know how to watercolor but I love art. My title is “a frustrated, always wanted to be illustrator, sketcher, drawing, coloring, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, mix-media artist” and was NEVER able to do😭it.
Now wait!! Use those brushes and paint!! Don't care what comes out. Just paint!! Throw water and paint on paper. Don't judge..have fun and let that artsy part play. Please. Why not? Xx
Love them all ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ bravissima
I love your channel and your style! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge ❤
Omgosh I loved this video! I worked all day practicing with you. My favorite was the last….and I actually had a real therapy session understanding why. It’s too deep to explain and too personal to share here but it was a much needed time to work with you and to realize that my art has deeper meaning for me than I knew. ❤
Beautiful❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! 😊
I loved the romantic one! However, I would love for you to do the same painting on hot press paper. That's my vibe! Look up Rose Ann Hayes' work. If I am not mistaken, it's done on hot press paper.
Hmmmm!!!
Beautiful, I look forward to trying these myself 😅!
Please do!
Your new brush set is all sold out! Congrats! But, when will they be resupplied?
About two weeks :)
Now this sketchy one is me! I guess I’m not moody
Which watercolor markers do you recommend?
It’s a peony I would expect to find in Alice in Wonderland. Love it
How do you feel about watercolor pencils rather than the watercolor markers, which I don’t have any real success with. They seem to get a mind of their own. I loved the sketchy peony.
As long as they’re intense I like ‘em
As a beginner on the last peony what do you mean when using dryer paint consistently? What paint to water ratio would that be? Love that you are using your palette, which I purchased and has so many beautiful colors ❤
Load about half and half but blot the tip on a paper towel before starting :)
Thank you ❤
What kind of watercolor markers do you use?
Kuretake Zig
Provide information about the watercolor pens, please!
A link for the markers used?
What brand of watercolour markers are you using please?

Hello! Where do you get your empty half pans/pans and amazing tins from? I’d like to make my own set of favorites but don’t know where to start. I’m assuming I just need a tin, empty pans, magnets, and of course, paint!
I have a few videos here on building palettes!
@@KristyRice , oh, I didn’t see them, I will look closer, thanks!
New here. What is the white you use?
I often use white gesso which is basically acrylic… but don’t mix that in with your watercolor palette as it doesn’t rewet when dry
Thank you!
How many of your pallettes have you gone through? Just wondering, you paint alot!
I’ve not emptied one yet. I have 7 in rotation :)
When will your new brushes be available?
Tomorrow!
@@KristyRice 😲😃 where and how do we order?
@@karenkuschel1748 , following…I’d like to know too!

Is there a link to your reference photo?😁
Let me add one!!
Okay it’s there!!
@@KristyRice Thanks!
UGH!!!! I can’t draw to save my soul 🤦🏻♀️
Why is it sooooo hard to just pick up a brush and start? Is it just me?
Nope not just you. The more you do just that, pick up the brush and paint a few marks without a plan, the easier it will get. We come to the white page loaded with soooo much expectation and it’s heavy. Because of this I always suggest making abstract marks for a time. Just sit, grab what’s within reach and make marks until you don’t feel like it any more. Repeat the next day. This will change everything for you.
Interesting but not my style.
Liked the third until you stopped painting and started fiddling...
I fiddle easily lol
It looks over worked
