  • Hi Friends.
    Painting watercolor shouldn't be about rules but about finding JOY and using your precious free time to elevate your life. I'm here to push fears aside, avoid complicated tools and inspire free spirited, mood shifting watercolor experiences in short bursts of time.
    Peonies are a long time favorite of mine and in this video I'm looking at 3 specific ways to paint them joyfully!
    1. Loose with pencil
    2. Bold brushstrokes
    3. Sketching with watercolor
    I hope you'll paint along with me and ask all the questions you want in comments! Post your creations using the hashtags #artforjoysake and #forgetrulesforgetrightrememberjoy
    Happy Painting!

    Listing the palettes without telling us what particular colors you use for the painting does not really help; additionally instead of saying that you are using a pink and a more intense pink it would be much more helpful to just call the color by its name and manufacture, wouldn't it?

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  7 років тому +8

      I apologize that my style of teaching doesn't resonate however I personally do not paint in a formulaic way. I often grab color from a palette in a very instinctive way without even thinking of the color name and manufacturer.
      Further to the above and probably more importantly this painting is all about shades of pink, really nothing else save for a bit of green and yellow in the center. But really it's all about pink. I purposely avoid listing the exact colors I've chose because they don't matter given this style of painting. What is important to know if that you should be varying your colors intensity with less or more water.
      If you are looking for super detailed, step by step instructions and exact color use, you are in the wrong place and missing the point a bit when it comes to making art for joys sake.
      I realize my opinions on this subject are strong and I don't mean to offend. I also realize we all find joy in our art making in different ways. Some may find joy and solace in dissecting the painting process down to the nth degree but I do not.

      Mape Andrews i understand why you have asked, i would have also when i was a beginner but you may have asked a bit nicer. UA-cam watercolor pink and there will be a few reviews on pinks that you can discern which reviewed brands you like best. Also getting watercolor dot charts from Daniel smith. Schmincke . The pinks i think that are being used are Daniel smith's opera pink/rose, Quincoral, quin rose and maybe a quin purple as the touch of viloet but it could also be mineral violet by either schmincke or Holbein. But not limited to those brands.
