In my latest shop project video, I partner with Nicks Boots to develop a boot knife. The initial concept for this boot knife came from Nicks, I took their idea of the knife and developed it to be semi practical. This idea needs more development of course... will this ever be a manufactured idea? Maybe. I will beta test it and keep thinking and tinkering, making this boot knife a practical and readily available tool to have nearby.
Nicks Handmade Boots has been making the toughest work boots since 1964. Their boots are USA made by skilled craftsmen in Spokane, WA.

fork in the other boot?
nice work, really like the clicky clip!
🙏🏼🤘🏻⚡️⚡️⚡️
Good stuff ,TOT approved!
You really need the fork and a matching clip on the back of the second boot so anyone seeing you from behind sees a decorative motif inspired by spurs.
There is no Spoon.
Spoon goes on the pants...?
Officer: Do you have any weapons?
Jimmy: leatherman, box cutter, pocket knife, belt, ice pick
Officer: Anything else?
Jimmy: probably should mention the boots
"leatherman, box cutter, pocket knife, belt, ice pick .. boot (knife)"
First 3 on that list I can legally carry in public where I live. The belt and boot knives could get me in big trouble as concealed weapons if the law officer decided he didn't like me and wanted to enforce the "law".
@@hanelyp1 I live in scotland, you arent even allowed to walk around with a potato pealer
@@grizta30 try a coin sap. Mean gene leather makes a rad one called the hot tamale. I have the hot tamale 2 which is less conspicuously a weapon

Just carry a really big potato
I'm imagining Jimmy doing this with one cold foot on the shop floor
Nicks boots have an insane amount of leather in them.
@@drakeorion94 i think he means he only had one boot on while making this as he was cutting a hole in the other
Yea, he 100% socked around the shop with that funky gate people have when they are only wearing one shoe during the making of this video.
walking around , boot /sock , boot sock !!!

I'm glad I got my Nick's a few years ago. I have a feeling these two channels might make for a longer wait time 😉

Jimmy never fails to disappoint.
With as many knifes as Jimmy makes I'm surprised he has any hair left on his arms to shave. :)
He's Italian. Where non-Italians grow skin cells, they just grow hair.
Someone else's arm
@@mattberg916 Hahaha stunt double arm. :)
Do not forget, he also has a pair of legs.
Who shaves their arms?
A beautiful blade! It almost has a Megalodon tooth profile. Keep doing what you do!
Admit it, you make knives as soon as your girl calls you HAIRY...
Lol
What...? Beta ass dude
Don’t get it? Explain
How about big boy , always big boy !!!
cause of the sharpness test where he shaves a bit of his arm, y'all.
Mister Jimmy Diresta & company you guys are just to DAMN COOL , & that is all that there is to it !!! Love your channel & I wish nothing but the best for you all !!! Let the mind & ideas flow ...

Anyone else think Jimmy took the boot off and continued to work with only one boot on till he finished? Looks awesome!
A self defense style support obviously! 😎
Everyone knows he was wearing a Croc on the naked food...probably a steel toed Croc.

Normal totally normal

fun to watch this come together in the shop.
Can totally picture somebody picking these up at a second hand store years later thinking “wtf???”
Totally original and creative as usual! 🤙
If he like most people, work boots are not a fashion item. By the time we are done wearing them there is no second hand left in them.
Second foot?
@@user-neo71665 these are “Nicks” boots. They will probably out last him.
@@nicolastousignant9160 if you fit 2 feet in a work boot then you aint working so it aint a work boot. Do your kinky stuff behind closed doors.
@@user-neo71665 they're Nick's boots. They're not an item that wears out. As much as Jimmy is a worker, he's a leather worker. He knows about leather and how to care for it, and he will care for it. Nick's boots go back to be rebuilt, and the kind of work Jimmy does isn't super tough on boots (when compared to other trades), except for the outsole. He also has other boots, and probably won't wear these ones 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. So these boots will never get worn out, if he cares for them and send them back for resole every few years, and a 1-2 rebuilds over his lifetime. These are boots he'll be able to pass on to his kid. (Figuratively speaking, as he has no kids.)
Jimmy that’s awesome , very cool
Put a brass "spur" on the other boot as well. People will question why there's only 1 spur.
better yet just put another boot-knife in the other one, that way the weight is evenly distributed as well.
@@codyray3344 That works, too.
Next one you make, split it down the middle, then overlap the two splits, and forge them together. Gives a really strong point, and if you do it with pattern metal, looks really cool.
Seam sealer! It’s almost like you’ve recently been doing auto body work! Love the click of the latch!
It’s incredible stuff !!
Hope you make another for the other side :) , superb creation once again!
And that’s why we have to take off our shoes at the airport. 🤦🏻♀️😁
No it isn't. They're looking for explosives. Shoe exams started after the guy tried to use a shoe bomb.
@@richardmaclean5846 - Right, right, and they’ll turn a blind eye to knives in boots 🤔
@@JosephQPublic He said that's why we have to take our shoes off. It's not. And I don't know what the current restrictions are, but they lifted the ban on knives for a while.

Genius, love the security system.
when a mall ninja and a cowboy meet
This give a whole to meaning to a "boot shank"
But honestly, I guess it would give you a bit more heel protection for nails.
The shark tooth blade and the spur inspired clip give it a really nice aesthetic.
All the TSA agents watching this right now are using their "small Jimmy" voice.
Ur well protected by this art work.
So just show ur boots and give this to the bad guys if someone come after you.
Not asking to be critical, but because I legitimately do not know. Why go through all the trouble of hammer forging, if your plan is to grind all of the contours to shape in the end anyway.
Or filing before taking it to the belt grinder.... My guess is it's in the name of making content, not efficiency. Not being overly critical, just an observation.
Might not matter much in this particular case, but forging alters the crystalline structure of the steel and can make a stronger product.
Исполнение как всегда на высоте!
Now you just need to start a bar fight!
Jimmy just got added to the TSA watch list...
Super cool, I like the Thor's hammer in the handle.
Awesome!

I'd hate to see the kind of places you frequent to need this type of boot. ;)
Hey Jimmy where could I get those type of jeans?
Seconded.
Seriously... loose, functional work wear?
killed it 🔥
I like the retaining clip, and the fact you left the forge finish on the handle, great as always Jimmy.
the forgers brush strokes !!!
ah yes, a shank in a boot
I love how much I learn from watching your videos Jim 👍🏻 ever since the first ice pick where you began using silver solder on brass to attach the loop, now I never forget that and know exactly how your brass parts come together in subsequent projects. The problem solving that went into this one is exactly the kind of puzzle I enjoy - once the sheath went into the heel “I dunno, is the friction fit going to be enough to retain the knife? Ohhhh that’s good!” That clasp was a stroke of brilliance and that *click* when it catches was so so satisfying! Thanks for these videos Jim, you’re the man!
Can we get a follow up, see how well it holds up after a few hundred miles on them boots? I'm curious if the sheath stays in the right shape with weight bearing down on it over time?
My kid says “Is that a knife?”
I say “Yes it is!”
He says “What for?”
I say “Cutting cheese.”
And spreading potted meat on the job
Lol.
I would have said cutting nuts. ;)
....?
Jimmy I thought you were going to put some springs so the blade would pop after being released from the clip😆
Ahhh. A little road house action

Both of these boot knives are very cool! Though, I'm starting to worry about Nick. What's he getting into? Haha!
Once the COVID vaccine turns everyone into zombies I’m gonna have to steal your boots, Jimmy.

I'm guessing New York as well?
@@andrewc9790 daggers are only illegal in New York if you have "dangerous intent". Which is super ambiguous and seems like one of those things they will use as an excuse to pop you on if they don't like you.
Most places have very grey laws surrounding knives in general
@@drakeorion94 yeah I think they do it on purpose. Either that or they are just THAT incompetent.
@@Kazues_ If you carry a dagger, I'll infer you're up to no good. It's not a toy.

*Baby Voice "Sure, but what kind of arch support does it have???" 😉
You come for the craftsmanship... you stay for the comments section.
That's freaking sweet.
I love the aesthetic and the snap the catch makes is super, super satisfying.
Not so fun fact - this kind of knife is called a "push dagger", possession alone carries a maximum sentence of 4 years in the UK. Hiding it inside your boot is a separate offence under the same act, which carries the risk of a separate sentence for 4 years. 8 years for a spicy boot!
I have a suspicion those laws date back to the Victorian era?
@@FKreider Still applicable, for good reason.
The click it makes when it locks in place = *chef's kiss*

That explains the real reason why Nicks prefers those tall boot heels it is to have a place to keep your knife! I have got a pair of builder pros that have been breaking me in since Christmas. :-)
