Bought this album many years ago as one of my 'just pick something up without knowing anything about it' days. One of the best purchases I ever made! Sadly lost the album a few years ago - but I'm so glad to here this again!
Gary Carke still performs from time to time (both with 'Danny Wilson' and as a solo artist) and he supported 'Deacon Blue' (another great Scottish pop act) on one of their tours a few years ago. Gary mainly spends his time these days writing and producing music for various other artists, as well as for film, TV and the stage. He's cruelly underrated in my opinion.
He may still record his solo music from time to time, but it'll probably receive so little promotion that you'll not even be aware of it. I suggest you have a look on his own official website as well as any of his facebook, instagram or twitter pages for details.
Gary Clark - an absolute bloody genius - I'd put him up there with Brian Wilson as far as creating amazing productions are concerned - in a heartbeat - Gary Clark -G-E-N-I-U-S - That is all !!!!
I remember seeing this on the Chart Show in early 1993 and fell in love with it. Described at the time as a 'modern day sea shanty', it should have been a massive hit on a par with 'Mary's Prayer', but sadly wasn't, and I've no idea why. Thanks for re-uploading the video (which I'm guessing must have been an in-store HMV edit, for display on their monitors) as the Chart Show broadcast of it has been on here a few times only to always get taken down :(
It's a good song but lacks the immediacy and ear worm quality of Mary's Prayer which sounded so good on radio and must have sold in large quantities back in 1988 from when I remember it well. Mary's Prayer is a quintessential pop song whereas dare I say it this sounds like its slightly more gauche and quirky counterpart.
Could you please upload the video to "That Look In Your Eyes" by Ali Campbell & Pamela Starks from 1995, if you have it. I haven't found a good copy of the video anywhere.
I have got that video, but I'd need to re-do the audio before uploading it, as it's on a disc (which I first need to find) where the tape had bad tape noise on it.
Superb song , never understood why it was’nt a big hit .
Still a crackingly beautiful song in 2021. Love it.
Danny Wilson, Gary Clark.....Musique de maitres.....Magistral !
Still an epic production
I LOVE DANNY WILSON!

Have you listened to King L? The band he was in with Neill MacColl of The Bible, another very underrated band

Yeah, this copy is ripped from a HMV in-store VHS tape.
I think it's because the 80s were finally ending around this time

Sunken treasure.
