When i start gta4 it comes up with the social club and i login and it authenticates the accounts then goes blank and then steam says i am not playing the game and nothing happened after that plz help

Robin Lim right click on the game > properties > local files > verify integrity of game cache. Files should download automatically if they are missing.

Download that then if you dont have an xbox live account make one then after its downloaded and you have an account close it and try it. It should work after that dude

I have a slightly different issue. It runs, then goes to the black screen, where in the bottom right corner it says your mission you are upto, then it closes down and says 'this has stopped working' or something along the lines of that.

So I bought the game, first step check. I downloaded it. Check. I made a Rockstar Account, check. I'm all set and ready to go, I open the game up (through Steam of course), and when I click "Play (Offline)" it says "Not Logged In.... You are currently logged in (TALK ABOUT MIXED MESSAGING)... you must be logged in to access Rockstar Online features..." I tried this video. After clicking OK in the box that pops up saying the message (above) nothing happens. I waited for an hour, nothing. Apparently when I press start the loading screen of all the characters pop up. But after a few seconds, none of the buttons work and am still stuck on the loading screen. I tried pressing home, but live doesn't pop up and I cannot exit out to windows. I never got out of the screen so I had to hard shutdown my computer

The game still crashed right at the beginning. It says something about rebooting or reinstalling games for windows live. I know GFWL got shut down but it can't be that they broke the game and refuse to fix it
I used GTA IV, disk version and I can confirm that shit is officially broken. I'm gonna try and get the steam version soon, and I hope it doesn't have that problem where the textures all vanish upon leaving the pause screen.

I actually fixed it, I verified the game's integrity on steam and it downloaded some missing files and then worked just fine!

Every computer is different so it is hard to find the right fix for everybody. This solved my particular problem.

Uninstalling and reinstalling GFWL (from a link not using the GTA 4 installer), it works now.

You are telling us to delete the 2005 folders yet how come you left one on there? I also don't even have the GTA IV.exe folder for some reason???

If you are using Windows 8, in the top righthand corner there should be an arrow pointing down. Just click on it and more options should come up.
