You booked your trip to KÖLN and want to go on this walking tour? I created a detailed DIGITAL GUIDE that you can download from my website www.triptipswithchris.com/shop. Having the guide on your phone helps you navigate through the city as it entails general tips, tour overview, descriptions for each stop, and walking directions with a map to get you from point A to point B. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions and enjoy your trip to this beautiful city along the Rhine River!
It's really helpful that you use both international & German place name pronunciations. It helps with familiarity but also with educating non- German speakers like me
Nice! Yeah it's a great city. I have a digital guide for this tour available on my website for $2.99 if you're interested. Here's the link: www.triptipswithchris.com/shop Enjoy your trip!
Thank you, Toby! Glad this video was helpful. I’m also putting together a digital travel guide for this walking tour, but it likely won’t be ready until later in September.
Thanks so much Tara! Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm actually working on a digital guide for this tour, but still need a couple of weeks. Enjoy your trip! It's a great city!
Great video such beautiful footage. Those cathedrals are so beautiful!! We were suppose to go to Germany then covid happened hope to try again in the next year or two. Great video lots of helpful information!
Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and that it provided some helpful information for you. Those cathedrals really are incredible. If you haven't already, check out my Passau video including the St. Stephen's Cathedral. The organ of that cathedral has over 17,000 pipes. It's amazing! Hope you get to go to Germany soon. If you have any questions while planning, don't hesitate to reach out. I was born and raised in Germany and have traveled around there quite a bit.
The cathedral is an absolute marvel and neither photos nor video do it justice. It is an absolute MUST for any visitor. But do we need to spend half the video on it? Also the gondola opens in April, not March.
I’m sorry you feel like there was too much of the cathedral in the video. Being such a significant landmark I feel like it was the right amount of time. The gondola opens March 17th as per their website. www.koelner-seilbahn.de/
Really good video. Only really knew about the church but now higher up on my to do list. How many days would you recommend? Id want to do a day trip to Dusseldorf at the same time
Thank you Stephen! Glad you enjoyed the video! You can do that your in one day, but I would suggest to stay at least one additional day to enjoy the city more and not rush things. And yeah, Düsseldorf is a great add on for a day. So I would say a total of 3 days.

Hi Hassan, thanks so much for your nice words and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Unfortunately, I am not able to provide guided tours in Cologne since I don't live nearby. I am working on digital walking tour guides for download and I'll probably have this Cologne tour available before your trip. I can let you know once it's available.

Haha. I highly recommend including going up the cathedral tower and the gondola. You could leave out the Köln triangle observation deck if you think it’s too many. They all give a different vantage point though. Hope you like the rest of the tour.
I will visit Germany from New York in July 2023. I am looking for a local/travel buddy to show me around. Berlin, Munich, and Cologne are on my bucket list. What's your recommendation to finding someone to show me around? Thanks!
Hi Nazeer, that's great that you get to travel to Germany in July! You picked 3 great cities! I would check in travel related Facebook groups for each of the cities. Another option would be the company "Tours by Locals" where locals offer tours in their cities. You could also check Airbnb Experiences which is similar. Hope this helps! My ancestors are from Cologne and it said, from the Schloss Berg/Burg Castle! Some of the older genealogist say we are from royalty. Since doing my genealogy I have found nothing has been proven! My maiden name is from Vonderburg, changed later to Funderburg and we have proof of their arrival at Philadelphia in 1738 from the ship “The Thistle”, leaving Rotterdam and stopping at Plymouth, England. But I tell people our ancestors could have just worked at this castle!
Oh wow! That’s great that you’ve been able to find out about your ancestors - where they are from and when they arrived in the US. Very interesting! Have you been able to visit Cologne?
On my most recent trip to Germany in June 2024, I used an Airalo eSIM card for the first time. If you’re looking to stay connected while traveling internationally without any high roaming fees, I highly recommend checking out Airalo’s eSIM cards which connect you to a local cellular network. They are easy to install, use and on top of that are very affordable. I went with the 2 GB, 15 days option for only $6.50. That was enough for me during my 2 ½ week trip. Upon my return to the US, I connected with Airalo and became an Affiliate Partner. Use link airalo.pxf.io/ttwc and new customers get 15% off with code NEWTOAIRALO15. Existing customers can enter code AIRALOESIM10 for 10% off. Let me know if you have any questions! 😊
@triptipswithchris ah right OK, me and my wife are coming over to cologne next week and just wanted some recommendations for some good cheap bars for the local beers and places to eat local German food
@@petenchelleuk so for traditional German food in a traditional setting unwound go to Früh am Dom, the place at the end of the video. If you’re looking for more of a bar scene, check out the Belgische Viertel (Belgian quarter). There are many bars and you can still get the local beers there. You would just walk west from the city center. Another area to have a relaxing beer would be along the river near the bridge. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip! It’s a great city.
Sorry this tour did not meet your expectation. It’s specifically designed if you only have one day in Cologne and in my opinion adding an art museum would have been too much.
