Nordictrack Treadmills Wifi only finally compatible with Zwift using QZ

- The new QZ Companion app, when installed on your treadmill, communicates live speed and inclination to the QZ app running on another device (e.g. Windows PC or laptop, Android phone or tablet, or iOS iPhone or iPad). QZ then communicates this information to Zwift running on a 3rd device (e.g. Windows PC or laptop, Android phone or tablet, or iOS iPhone or iPad). A 2nd device could be used to run both QZ and Zwift, eliminating the need for a 3rd device, as long as QZ runs in the background while Zwift runs in the foreground. This only works consistently on Windows and iOS, but not Android.

Worked fine on my Nordictrack EXP 10i using treadmill options for 2450.
great thanks!
I am also trying to get running using the exp 10i but cannot get it to send info to the QZ app on iPhone. Any chance you did something other than the instructions suggest to get it working?
@@michaelhaverkamp8641 I think Ifit did something in new release, because I had to hard reset my treadmill after Ifit crash.
I have also EXP 10i but there is no options for 2450 in QZ Fitnesse settings (using android phone). I don't know what treadmill I shuold check; there is Nordictrack 10 but probably it is not correct option. I did put treadmill IP address to Nordictrack 2950 IP-field because there was no other options (other than Proform IP). Very confusing settings... QZ Fitnesse tries to connect my treadmill but it failed; it just display "Connecting..." no error messages (bluetooth is enabled on treadmill).
Roberto, excellent video! Very well done. How did you get the picture so stable? And the text on the bottom of the screen is ingenious. You made what could be perceived as a complicated set of instructions, look easy and very doable. Thank you for sharing with the community. Sincerely, Dr. NT
thanks! I didn't record it myself directly so I don't know about the recording technique used :)
Work great for my nordictrack i10! Thank you!
great! i'm adding it to the compatibility list! also remember to rate the app on the store, it means a lot to me! Thanks!
Hey I rated the app, unfortunately it’s stop communicating the treadmill. It shows the boxes but not the incline, speed etc
@@bryanmartinez291 is the ip of your treadmill still he same? If you have a DHCP on your network the IP would change after each restart. Let me know and in case write me an email or start a github ticket. Thanks
Yes the ip is still the same and thank you I’ve email along with screenshots of the app and treadmill
I don't use Zwift but it appears QZ is able to control the X32i treadmill's speed and incline. Can I do that via QZ from a file with a pre-programmed workout?
yes! check robertoviola.cloud/2023/11/20/exploring-the-versatility-of-qz-app-your-gateway-to-a-tailored-fitness-experience/
@@Cagnulein I have it installed. The speed and incline show in the Android app when I change them on the treadmill. I try the "+-" buttons in the app but the speed or incline does not change. I tried both X32i profiles.
The sliders are displayed.

Looks great. Want to get it on my Nordic Track. If I hook this up, will the running apps be able to control my treadmill, like incline or basically just passes info between the apps?
@@noNumber2Sherlock the qz companion use the ifit app to control the inclination and speed. so basically qz on your phone is saying what to do to the companion, and the companion force ifit on a manual workout to do so
Does USB debugging need to be enabled to use all the QZ features (such as auto incline)? I find that when power is cycled to the treadmill (I have a nordictrack t6.5si) USB debugging goes back to the default (off)
yes it has to be for auto speed and auto inclination
you can get the metrics on qz anyway with usb off
Were you able to get this to work on your nordictrack t 6.5si?
Worked perfectly for me on S22i - excellent stuff (S22i ->iphone, bluetooth -> Ipad running Zwift - I wonder if I can get Zwift on the S22i Screen now rather than my ipad :)
great! i don't know for zwift! give it a try!
HI John. I have a Nordictrack s15i bike and have installed QZ - however, I can't get it running (neither with the developpers help). So, pls, what are your settings? i.e. what bike did you select in the QZ companion on the nordictrack, and what settings in the QZ iphone app? Did you put in the IP of the nordictrack in settings\bike options\proform/nordictrack options or in settings\treadmill options\proform/nordictrack options? I'd appreciate very much your advice, thanks in advance
+1 to these exact questions
Do you need to physically plug into the unit via USB to install QZ? I don' have my unit yet (Proform pro 9000) and I can't tell if it even has a USB port. Thanks!
nope, you can do everything wirelessly!
Hi there! I wonder if you can help me… I have managed to complete all installation steps so far on my NordicTrack 1750 2019 model, but one element missing is that I’m unable to find the IP address of the treadmill in any of the settings. The ‘About Us’ section only has: status, legal information, model number, android version, Kemel version (which does have a strange looking number x.x.xx - is this possibly the IP address? It doesn’t look like any IP address I’ve ever seen as it seems to be missing a dot and digit), and build number. I’ve looked through every option in the settings and cannot find any reference to an IP address, nor anything that looks remotely like it could be an IP address, other than this strange number in the Kemel Version.
maybe your treadmill hasn't wifi at all? are you able to see in QZ the I_TL device maybe? contact me to roberto.viola83@gmail.com it would be easy :) or start a thread here github.com/cagnulein/qdomyos-zwift/issues/new/choose
Thank for the quick response! Definitely has WiFi. I have downloaded the QZ Companion already through the treadmill’s own browser. I think I might have managed to find the treadmill IP address through ‘devices connected to my router’ on my Amazon Eero router app, and that shows a unique IP address for my treadmill, but there is nothing remotely similar on the treadmill itself that I can see. I will try with that and see if it works, but even if it does work perhaps it would be helpful for you if I send you some pictures? That way you can either help me (if for some reason the IP against my treadmill on my router app doesn’t work) or you’ll have something on file to help others with…
@@Charlotte-ti2yk ok if you were able to download the qz companion from it, it has wifi for sure :) ok let's try with the IP got from the router. Create a ticket with the pictures and so I can address your issue better, thanks! Anyway give it a try to qz with the ip that you have, if it works you are already good to go!
Hey team, my treadmill was working and connected for about 4 months but has now seemed to drop off and I can’t find it! I checked the IP address and it was still the same, any ideas?
Can you ping the IP?
Hi, Can I have QZ intalled in the same device where I run Swif?I tried but it is not working. Just when I have QZ in a different device than Swift device. Any Idea? I would like not to have too may devices active.
you can but only on android enabling the android notification icon in the experimental settings in qz
Hey mate, I'm able to ping my treadmill and install the app, followed each of the steps for the iOS device app.
When I attempt to start a workout on the treadmill I get no speed showing in the app (and thus on zwift).
hi which treadmill? did you try to factory reset it and then don't update ifit app?
@@Cagnulein I have factory reset the treadmill (Elite 900 Nordictrack) but I can't seem to stop the auto updates from happening so the ifit app seems to always update. This means that the treadmill never seems to connect to my phone (ios) which is pushing the data to zwift
Any ideas?
@@benjaminhyde456 remove the gateway setting from the tablet so I would not connect and so it would not update. Let me know
The question is in iOS: "A 2nd device could be used to run both QZ and Zwift, eliminating the need for a 3rd device, as long as QZ runs in the background while Zwift runs in the foreground. This only works consistently on Windows and iOS, but not Android." The onlyway to get working is when I go in "Slide Over" mode in QZ, but as soon as QZ minimized, Swift stop to get speed/inclination data. It means, both work togeteher just when QZ is visible in the screen. Is the any way to keep QZ working in background and get Swift full screen getting QZ data? Thx
yes on iOS qz must be on foreground, otherwise you need an addional device for QZ. Usually a lot of people uses a old phone for QZ
Got it! Thank you and Grazie!
I did everything right but qz did not connect to my treadmill.
create a ticket with a debug log so i can check your scenario github.com/cagnulein/qdomyos-zwift/wiki/How-do-i-get-the-debug-log-in-case-something-doesn't-work%3F
Has anyone managed to get this working with an NordicTrack Elliptical, like a Commercial 12.9?
hi, did you already installed the QZ companion app?
@@Cagnulein No, Not yet. After watching the video I am nervous about doing factory resets. I also currently do not have an active iFIT account so I don't think I will be able to do the steps indicated in the video. Does QZ companion eliminate the need for an iFIT subscription?
@@leonardfernandez882 yes you don't need any ifit subscriptions!
@@Cagnulein OK, let me try install QZ Companion
Hi, I have a 2018 Nordic track 1750 and wondering if this will work and a little unsure about installing something third party like this on my treadmill. Do you know if anyone has had issues with the install? Thinking it may save buying a Runn speed sensor to do Zwift tho.
Hi Ollie, using a Runn speed sensor it will be completely a difference experience since it will not measure the speed perfectly and also you will not have inclination.
With this method, instead, you will have the metrics perfectly.

Will this work on nordictrack treadmill without internal Android screen?
Would this work for the NordicTrack EXP 5i ?
yes!
Does this stream the video to the treadmill screen, or you need a laptop?
you need a device for zwift. it could be a pc or a tablet
if i do this installation then do a workout on zwift will the treadmill speed and incline automatically adjust?
yes using the QZ version on PC, and yes using the meetup workaround for the qz version on android or ios ua-cam.com/video/KTQ2n7yeDbo/v-deo.html
Hi. Would this work with a Nordictrack C7.5 elliptical trainer?
i don't know this, does it have a builtin tablet ? create a github ticket and i will follow. i believe it's doable for sure!
Hi. Did anyone figure out if this will work on an elliptical? I have one 5hat has ifit on it. Ifit isn't that great and without it the elliptical isn't 5hat great so this would be amazing.
Hey team, does qz software work with x32i ?
yes it does!
Do you need to have an active ifit membership for this to work?
absolutely no! :) it works without any subscription

I have to ask can this work for the S22I studio cycle?
yes! also with auto resistance in the beta!

Thank you for the video. I have the Commercial 2450 its the new version. Can I do this to that unit? Are you also viewing, Zwift on the treadmill screen or a different device? Can you use the treadmill screen to run the program?
I guess so since you're able to install the apk on it. Zwift must run on a separate device since I guess the tablet can't handle it. No my program needs to be on a separate device as well for now.
