2024 Harley-Davidson Model Launch Recap: All the Details they Left Out...

- Опубліковано 12 чер 2024
- Harley-Davidson just unveiled their latest and greatest in the 2024 model year. This was a big year to say the least. The most popular motorcycles in the touring family, the Road Glide and Street Glide, received a huge make over. The Model offering has been simplified by reduced the offering on these two bikes from six down to two. We have the new body style that was first introduced last year on the CVOs. The engine is a 117 Ci Milwaukee-Eight that received new water cooled heads and a new intake increasing power slightly. New suspension and infotainment are also new, key features being introduced. The star of the show was the CVO Road Glide ST which is a new model that we have never seen before. This CVO capitalized on the Performance Bagger movement and takes a lot of it's DNA from the King of the Baggers race bikes. Matt Laidlaw goes over a lot of the details that weren't included in the show.

I watch so many videos about everything Harley but Matt's videos are the best. So much work must go into these videos because he breaks down everything but manages to keep it entertaining and the editing is superb!
Thank you sir. It’s good to know people see the effort I put into these. I had about a 15 hour edit for this video. That’s why it’s so late!
@@MattLaidlaw I may not always agree with everything that’s said… but your cinematography and your video quality is second to none. Your content quality is absolutely brilliant.
I concur💯✔️ Plus the best part, even though he owns the dealership….Matt’s just a regular dude👍🏽
Yep, have to agree with you there. Matt’s videos are the best, bar none 👍
I agree ☝️ I learn way more from Matt in 40 minutes than all of the Harley-Davidson brand videos combined 😎⚡️🤙
Matt you did a fantastic job explaining all the changes in the new touring models. Very informative and just the right amount tech. Great job! I like the ST CVO best but I also love the custom optional paint on the other CVO and the choice of Bat wing or Shark nose.
Motorman, will be looking forward to your further videos too!
Your garage is pretty full, so will be interesting to see what you add ( or remove) from it.😊
Thank you Jerry 👍🏼 it means a lot coming from THE motorman. I hope all is well.
Hey Matt, Thank you for making all of your videos. Living in WI, I tune into your UA-cam channel during the winter months to watch you and your guys on all the awesome road trips you take. Saturday, I bought a 24 Road Glide CVO in the legendary orange color from Levi at Suburban HD outside of Milwaukee. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I think I got the first one in WI. Can't wait to get back out on the road!
First off thanks for watching. Secondly - congrats man. That's such an awesome bike
Hands down, Matt’s the nest. I recommend to all my riding buddies to watch Matt’s reviews! Thanks Matt, great job!
Hands down the best motorcycle reviews and presentations on UA-cam! Impeccable job as always! Can't wait for the full in depth reviews of the CVO ST and the 2024 Road King. Greetings from Romania, Matt!
The most informative hd bagger videos on UA-cam, thanks Matt. I love the new CVO’s over the ST imo the paint colors are phenomenal. Harley covered all the major shortcomings this year . Great job Jochen and team!
OMG That Road Glide CVO ST. Good God what a great looking motorcycle
Agreed!
Great contents as usual, Matt. You give your viewers essential and specific information about the bikes. Watching your videos is the ultimate “one stop shop” if the viewer is new, existing HD/non-HD owner, or a person that would like to get in the two-wheel stress reliever. Thank you and keep it coming!
I couldn’t think of a better comment. Thanks man. I appreciate you watching.
I wait for your new model release video every year Matt. You put out the most concise review of all the models and provide more information on what’s new than anyone on UA-cam including HD!
The new CVO ST certainly looks great but is well above my pay grade! I recently purchased a 23 RGST and am now wondering if I should have waited for the 24RG, but hey theme the breaks!! Kept up the great content mate.
Great video Matt! Your research video editing, and verbiage are by far the best online for this kind of content. Good job man!! 👏👍
I love your takes, and the little gems you drop in there. Nice work yet again
Thanks for the additional information, Matt, and setting it straight on price vs. features. So many videos are complaining that there aren't any more options and that the bikes are $26k and more if you want black trim or black paint. However, no one is mentioning all the extra features these new bikes have! From the fairing to lights to digital screens, rider modes, and all the rider safety features that were extra before. Plus the 117, and no surcharge! I think these are some of the biggest value bikes I have ever seen from HD.
Yes, people just want to focus on spinning everything negative and ignore any positive stuff.
Matt - thanks so much for putting together these amazing videos! I love watching everything that you produce. Great stuff. I’m in PA but I’m going to find a reason to get out to CA just to buy some stuff from you guys.
I’m glad they kept them heavy, that’s what helps reduce rider fatigue on a long day ride. I’m glad they switched to digital gauges because I can’t see the analog needles well. Bikes are beautiful! Solid review as always, I always learn more about the latest models from you in 20-30 minutes than I do with the official Harley-Davidson brand videos 😎⚡️🤙
Great video Matt. Other UA-camrs were putting out ”These are awesome” videos with little details on the bikes. Great to see the comparison details you provided.
Thank you sir. I appreciate that.
That CVO / ST is fire! 🔥 But, literally made my last payment on my 2017 Heritage (which I bought after your review). She’s mine. Finally. I don’t need another payment.
Great video Matt. ⚔️
Congrats on the pink slip 😁 thanks for the comment.
Life is short buy the damn bike.
Great vid, Matt. Appreciate the detail, overview, and straightforward review. Thanks!!
I’m gonna go ahead and watch this video for the third time 🤘🏻
Great video. Best details . Superb Matt. Thanks for your content.
Matt, your videos are the best and most informative on UA-cam by far. Thanks for the time and effort you put into it. Love the new HD’s! Later……
Great info on the CVO ST Matt, your reviews are always informative and worth watching. I am keen to get one of the new ST's and already started looking where to buy.
Wow, great job Matt. Was waiting for your video and was not disappointed.
I love the new bikes especially the Black ST but really like the orange CVO street glide.
keep up the good work.......
Thank you and thanks for watching. Glad I didn’t disappoint. 🤙🏼
I REALLY LIKE these new Street Glides and Road Glides. The fairings needed an update after 10 years of the same old thing. I liked them. I’ve owned a few. I just know you gotta update things occasionally. And, these updates are AWESOME! The lighting is great too. The tech (as long as it works right) is much better than the past 6 years. Tech updates need to come often. The new lines on the tank and the saddlebags, along with the change in the fairings really looks nice. The 117 on a lighter bike and better chassis will make for a SWEET ride! There are a few bikes with lower prices across the catalogue of bikes. That’s GREAT too.
CVO ST is absolutely stunning. Water cooled heads and bonus engine size is a sign Harley is stepping up their game. 🙌🏼
Yes sir 🙌🏼
It's the same quarter assed approach as usual.
S&S bore kit > Screamin Eagle
Always great videos and information 🤘🏻
Very informative. Great job, Laidlaw.
Matt, thank you for the update on the 2024s I agree with so many, your videos are so much better, plus you have that voice thats perfect for narrating. I do wished they updated some things on the low rider STs still waiting for something cooler to come down the line.
Many thanks Matt for another great summary of a model launch. This year’s CVO Street Glide is the first SG I’ve wanted.
Hi Matt, Great video - as always....FYI- I would choose the CVOs with VVT over the CVO ST as it's so much more practical for my typical riding (I don't spend any time on a race track).
The HD footage was like watching a Ken Burns PBS documentary.
Haha Thank you!
As usual, great review and summary of 2024 models. 😊
Thank you for going over the differences on the ST CVO vs the CVO.
Damn I have to have a White CVOST!! My 22 ST is build to my liking but this might be the best Harley ever released (in my opinion) Great video as always Matt!
I appreciate you watching and the comment! Thank you !
Matt, as always the best and most informative video on the new glides yet!
I predict over 200k subscibers by the end of summer. 😊
That’s the goal!! 200k here we come. Haha thanks.
Always enjoy your reviews as they cover all the important points, I'm impressed with the new 24 model year Street Glide and Road Glide, H-D have certainly stepped up their game in terms of looks and equipment , as for the new CVO Road Glide ST it looks awesome.
Outstanding technical flowing video with excellent pricing to features analysis.
Matt, thanks for the great review! You go above and beyond in providing information so that consumers can make an informed decision!
That Legendary Orange Street Glide would definitely be my choice if I were buying a new bike today. And I've been chomping at the bit for Matt's video to come out on the new lineup. I really enjoy the way you give all the details others seem to leave out.
Great information!
Just ordered the CVO Road Glide ST in black 2 days ago.
Your comments confirmed I made the right choice. Glad they are coming up with a luggage rack and/or sissy bar solution. Already ordered the “two up” seat option and bag lid speakers (only two options for that bike.)
Nice man. I might be grabbing one of those too 😁
@@MattLaidlawCool!
Definitely looks stunning in real life . Cannot wait to ride it!
Looking at the CVO Road Glide ST makes me want to get a bagger. It’s even better seeing it in person. I saw the raven metallic and it was beautiful. I would like to see the golden white pearl color.
Great content. Thank you
Really great lineup H-D 👍
Stunning bike’s
Enjoying your detailed information not just generic sales info
Ride safe
Outstanding video as usual, Matt! You answered so many of my questions about the new models. The fact that the new SG/RG have so many improvements yet are cheaper just blows me away! Especially in today’s economy; I predict a record sales year for the motor company. ❤
Great job, Matt. I love all the moves being made by the Motor Company and the CVO Pan America is brilliant. If it was available when I bought my PA from you in 2021, it's definitely the one I would have gone with. As for the CVO touring bikes, I'd go with the ST. It looks badass.
Once laid speaks its official and accurate...
Follow you since for ever the evolution since then has been a joy thru you channel.
This was very educational, thank you.
Thanks for this video Matt. Quick question if I may? With the CVO st, coming up shortly, there will be an option for rear passenger seat and sissy bar for touring? Love the look of this bike.
Thank u
Very well done, Matt, pointing out the changes. Will there be teething problems with the liquid cooled heads?
Harley has finally produced a FOREVER BIKE.
CVO-ST will be an all-time best seller.
Amazing production
Mr ML
I think you’re right. They nailed this one. And Thank you
As always, great production. What was that center stand on the CVO RG ST?
I’m really digging the modern looks! It’s about time to update the looks!
Thanks for the info on these touring models.
Any info on the trikes?
Another excellent breakdown! Thank you Matt!!
Thanks for watching!
Well done Matt, very informative.
I really like your in detail review. Seems i know more than the salesman lots of times. Even the tech guys didn't realize this cvo road glide st is no vvt. But a more aggressive cam, and not so much traction control. Sweet bike, the hype is real 😮
Man, I want one. I absolutely am in love with the alpine green and chrome street glide.....damn that's nice.
Matt love watching your reviews best out there and love watching you and your co workers go on road trips. I just went to my local dealership in Connecticut this past weekend and saw both the CVO ST road glide and the CVO street glide (copper head). Both are extremely great looking bikes. Like you said depending on what feel you are going for either the high output or the VVT you cant go wrong. The Copper head color is pretty wild. The color changes from an almost plum color to a root beer color just walking around it. I'm sure on a sunny day that thing is gonna pop!! I wound up picking up a new leftover 23 CVO street glide Dark Platinum getting it dropped off this week!!!
Nice! I bought my sg dp when they came out from Yankee HD in bristol.. What did you pay for your street glide? Fyi Let the radio boot up before starting and will not have as many glitches.. If you get a glitch turn run Switch on and pull main fuse it will reset it. I have only had to 1 time lol
Matt, you did better job on this than HD did. 🍺🍺🍺
Awesome news about Cardo - love them!
I’ve been waiting for your video on this. Man I love that legendary orange on the CVO Street Glide. I’m freakin excited about every model though.
Another great video well done guys
Nice review Matt and some fantastic new bikes!
Thanks for checking it out.
Hey Matt, great video as always. Do we know if they are going to hobble the headsets to only be mono if they arent the new HD Cardo like they did with the Sena/WHIM?
Thanks Matt for the best review and explanation of the new bikes very well done , the ST is a winner .
Great detailed review matt...I'm still running a 2011 road glide with a stage 1...I take care of it and it's super clean and freakin runs well...love it...But great reviews....I'm a truck driver and I listen to your reviews as I'm running through the night...great work.
Thanks man. Glad we can entertain and educate. I appreciate the viewership and the comment. Take care man.
Happy Monday sir. You’re a good dude
Can’t wait too see which bike and color you go with. Great Video Matt as always!
Thank you for putting the work into this video. I’m excited to see what you end up getting if you get a 2024. You seem to have a thing for the ST! I’m going to go with a Whisky Fire Road Glide or Street Glide myself.
Very informative videos, You do such a good job. I think I would go with the ST CVO but I would need to add the heated Grips that's a must have for me.
That would be nice, but meantime, I have used the old lay your gloved fingers on the rocker box for a few seconds warm up trick. 😉
Great job Matt!!!
💯👍
Nice review keep up the good work Matt LaidLaw I want to see a upgrade on the road glide 3 trike
Amazing video as always. Cant wait to see if you upgrade to the road glide or street glide.
Glad that I have my 21 Street Glide Std, it is more than enough.
Great job on the review.
Thanks for another top shelf video
Excited about the CVO ST.
🤘🔥🤘 RG ST CVO is nice!
CVO Road Glide would be my choice because low end torque suits my riding style and the look is stunning. Aw hell, any any of these bikes in this video is a winner and worth every penny.
I'm liking the looks of those glides. I like that Harley simplified things but is giving you some bang for your buck. Love the newly designed fairings. They look sharp. The bigger infotainment screen, the 117 motors, the new fairing, new seat, wheels, everything about them. Damn... I want one..lol
Very informative!! Thx!! 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Hi Matt
Happy New Year from Australia
One Question on the CVO ST - with the rear suspension mounting does that preclude installing the four point mounting brackets?
If so, Can the suspension module be mounted behind the saddlebags? I would just want to put a rack on the back sometimes to carry a bag
Awesome vid as always, Matt. Appreciate the more product focused breakdown vs the people/culture stories that seemed to be the focus of the HD launch video.
Tech tip: the DLC coating on the fork inner tubes is very low friction. Less friction means one less sloppy variable for engineers to tune suspension settings around. 😎. Cool superbike tech they have implemented here. It’s an expensive coating. Good on HD for going to that length. Also looks trick as you said.
I also suspect most of the power bump on the ST non-VVT variant is probably coming from a more aggressive cam profile that the VVT hardware might be less tolerant of, combined with the higher RPM limit, and less so the intake, although the intake benefit at the higher airflows cannot be overlooked.
Looking forward to what you do with your new Street Glide when you get it!
Consistently professional👍🏻
Great Reviews
👍👍
Side note, the CVO ST model is limited to 120 mph AND it’s only for 20-30 seconds before it will govern the speed.
True. At that speed. Thats actually a long time.
@@MattLaidlawnot for us living in Germany ;))
But flash that ECM?....Then you can do better than 120....
@@bradlozano2571 I did a Stage 2 with the SE Power Cam on my RKS2021 model. The limiter was removed and I did around 215 km/h wich believe me was no fun at all
@@benchmark76 133mph?.....Got to stiffen up that Suspension to go with that Engine Mods....I did 140mph back in the day on a Honda V65 Magna...Now that is Hairy...
Question Matt... Does your dealership allow CVO test rides? None of my local dealers do. Besides that, I really like the redesigns on these bikes! I've never liked the batwing fairing but now I could get into it. The Road Glide fairings look even better!! Seriously, these changes are long overdue. HD should be embarrassed at letting this go so long, especially for basics like LEDs and 3 inch shock travel!!! I can honestly say these bikes make more sense bc now I don't have to factor in the cost of Legends or Olins suspensions or Custom Dynamics lighting! I really hope they give Road Kings some extra attention in the near future! They should bring back the standard chrome version and give it a sleek redesign without straying too far from the iconic look all us RKers love so dearly.
For a daily rider, the standard CVO makes more sense. The CVO ST is for someone going for performance over daily riding.
At least that is my opinion.
I use my phone for nav as well. Having said that, I’ve been lost in parts of America and it’s nice having a gps based navigation so I can get back to an area with cell phone signal
I get what you mean but I'm from Europe and I downloaded a map on google maps of the whole country (takes up a bit of space on the phone). Therefore eventhough I don't have any signal I still have a working navigation.
Thanks Matt. This is the best video on the lineup. I am a touring guy and the overall, linear versatility of the 'regular" CVO glides is a better choice although that CVO ST is well designed.
Thanks man. Yea, the RG and ST are a great base to just kinda do whatever you want. Also solid to just ride and not touch it.
I have three questions and one comment. Comment: I too am very disappointed in top speed of new bikes. The reason is not liability as Japanese sport bikes run 187. I mean come on. The reason I believe is the new fairings can’t handle higher speeds and that is super disappointing. And a sport version of RG 120 for the track? That’s about as exciting as going 90 on the freeway. Questions: what does the price drop do to people like me who bought a ‘23 SG st? I’m assuming the value of my bike just dropped significantly. Question 2: wasn’t the st models’ intake tuned for performance? How is that intake inferior to the new one? Question 3: do you think a chip will be available aftermarket to eliminate the 100 mph on the bikes? Thanks in advance for your wisdom, insight, and input.
Matt, can you comment regarding the RDRS lacking the vehicle hold control function on the standard models? It’s a $79 option now. That the function of the RDRS that everyone really notices and uses. It’s std on the CVOs.
Regarding the navigation, it’s a 3 year subscription for $350. It’s not a one time purchase, when your three years are up, it won’t work unless you resubsribe.
The Bluetooth is still funky. You can’t just pair your apple phone to the head unit and expect CarPlay to work. It requires another device with a microphone to be paired to actually work. And you still need the Harley branded Cardo unit (no support for the sena unit on the new head unit) to get full functionality. That puts folks whom bought the HD sena units in a non workable situation. Also no more android auto support. We tested all this in the dealership and found this to be the case.
I love the look and the new engine options of the 24s. I just wish they would remove the Bluetooth limitations (they are the only bike manufacturer that does this), the full RDRS functionality should be std instead of making you buy the vehicle hold control component separately., and the navigation that was included is now a subscription cost. Most of us that tour and need full control of managing the routes, will be forced to buy the subscription. Google maps are only good for point a to point b navigation. I’ve also used REVER, but the CarPlay version is severely lacking.
Thank you for this clarification. I was actually looking for an answer on wether the android carplay was working or not! Thanks 🙏
@@blackveilcommand check this link out….its a work around until Harley decides to close this loophole. I use something similar for apple car play on my 2020 RGS.

Wow Incredible motorcycles beautiful
I think HD has hit it out of the park, on everything for 2024. Very impressed.
Thanks for weighing in. I think they brought a solid offering to the table.
The CVO Road Glide ST is a cool performance bike, I hope they continue this model for years to come.
RG ST ROCKS!! Looks like I will be buying a new HD in 2024!!
Hey Matt, great review. Question: Why did the factory go from oil cooling to liquid cooling on the '24 touring models?
Along with it they changed the circulation route in the heads as well but to answer your question, it does a better job at cooling the engine.
Appreciate all the information and outstanding video quality. I was so excited about the CVO ST but after this video the regular CVO way better for my riding style and priorities. I watched a few other review videos but they were no where as good as this one. Well worth the wait. Starting to budget for a bike in late 2024 or 2025. With the 2024 price drop wonder what that means for trade in value for my 2021 RGS?
The only complaint I have is that you are not posting more content, maybe twice a week, but I'm understand, you're a busy man running the shop and doing a million things. Very awesome video. Thanks.......later ✌🏼
The editing of these videos is a lot of work. I tried it and gave up. Basically like a second job. I don't see how he does it with a full time job and family.
Another great review Matt and thank you for this. I'm not sure why they made the ST a CVO now without the standard CVO features like you mentioned. That being said it's awesome to see Harley moving with the times and both the CVO's are really killer. I would go still go with a base model and build it to my liking even if it costs the same or more. This is what I did with my 2020 RGS, only problem is that I didn't stick to my initial budget.
Does the ST come with 2 key fobs? Are the FOBs CVO engraved or just the stock fobs?
Can we add the locking system for the saddle bags?
ST for me
