I have the same IKEA Legs which are 27.5 tall if I recall + the desk top which is 1.5 inches so you get like 29. If I put my chair where my feet are flat, I have 2 fists between my knee and the desk. I have to raise my chair to get 90 degree elbows and then use a floor foot stand. I hate it. Building a new desk and hoping to change this.
Dawg I’m 6’2(bout 189cm for the metric people) and my current desk is 29in. It’s too damn high and I’ve been using it for a year and a half. It’s caused the exact problems you described. I’ve been leaning forward and it’s been putting a strain on my wrists. Hoping the strain isn’t permanent but I’m looking into getting a standing desk. Gonna take a while so for I might see if there’s something out there for cheaper. I’m tryna get my hands on something quick.
I just ordered a standing desk (even though I have no interest in using it standing) for this reason. I'm the same height as you and the typical 29/30 inch desk is way too tall
I work around this for myself by using a pullout keyboard tray, which brings the keyboard lower and brings me further away from the screen, which I like. And I also use something under the monitor stand to bring the monitor to a good height. Reams of paper work well for that too, if there's nothing else
Great tip! I like pull out trays because they save so much more space. The problem is finding a good one. There’s a lot of cheap flimsy ones that move around a lot when you type.

Yep I have the same issue. You can add a foot rest but I find that getting a thinner desk that can raise and lower is ideal.

Dang! Hope it works out! Desk jobs are terrible on the body, so making those small adjustments are critical.
