I have been struggling with Stygian for so long and I didnt seem to find any efficient way to overcome it, thanks for making this video so I’ll probably get through it eventually :)
I'm such a noob, I didn't know you could reload virtue rolls. Great vid, Grats. I quit playing after my maxed out lvl6s got decimated by some bad rng. This vid may have convinced me to give it another go

Because its true, Cryfor used some „legit rigs” in this speedrun, if you look closely he doesnt select the certain dungeon and runs in it directly. When the screen fades and becomes darker (after selection of a normal dungeon) he instantly clicks on darkest so he is allowed to go there once again. Also notice rerolling the virtue or resetting the revelation. Basically without these seemingly small helps overcoming the Stygian is almost impossible ;) Every next patch for DD is enduring the Stygian even more which sucks ass.
@@sergethegrim well but some things had to be removed the record for shortest in-game time on stygian was 16 weeks, houndmaster+3Abom could do DD1 with all on resolve lvl 2...
Im guessing since there is no category the reloads for virtue dont matter at all. Would it be possible to continue to run if there was an organized category and they disallowed reloading for virtue?
sure it would, btw rerolling the virtue is legit in normal Any% as well. But even without it, sure you can relevel heroes (as I had to do btw, cause 1 HWM died)

@Omn777 Thx, really appreciated :) for the duping of the trinket - I explain it in my DD Speedrun tricks video that can be found on my channel - but if you prefer to read it, here is how it works: Some trinkets in the game (namely boss trophys and the shieldbreaker trinkets) are coded in a way that the game will always make sure that you get them back, even on a party wipe. The same applies to the torch for DD2 in a way - the game will always make sure you get them back if a hero dies. We found out by accident, that if you fail DD2 and a hero with a torch equipped died - the game gives you back the torch, since it wants to make sure that you always get the torch back - for some weird reason, you then get an extra torch back as well - so we send 2 guys into DD2, retreat immediately - one of them dies as part of the "retreat cost" - and boom you get the 4th torch ;)
@@Cryfor i'm sorry i haven't watch yet all pf your videl , but u got several question , tbe first is shambler , colector ans the tfs trinkets are duplicable to with the same technique ?And , there is no other way to duplicate a trophy trinket by sacrifice one hero on the darkest dungeon ? Because i actually try a perfect no pore hero but i need to duplicate several trinket but i can't lose any hero for it , there is no way to play with the steam cloud to do the same result ? ( sorry again for the bad english , i hope tou got the spirit of what i ask you , and sorry to not be very polit to ... )
@@ornn7775 its okay :) so as far as we know, it can only be done that way - and only with the boss trophy trinkets (the ones you get from the champion bosses), the shieldbreaker class trinkets and the DD2 trinket.

@@Cryfor Ennemies COULD take direct damages; but they would have to DIE from bleed or blight :) Even if it seems hard to put off.. I like the idea ! And who else but you for something like this, hum? ;)
i hope this isn't too late, but if you have already gotten more knowledge about speedruns, you don't have to read this ^^ if you wanna see what any% stands for, search for an any% speedrun of two worlds :D (mario kart, especially on the wii is also hilarious) in a lot of games you can skip a lot of key elements (boss fights, cutscenes etc) which people go through in normal runs. frequent other categories are glitchless, bosses%, no ooB (no out of bounds) Bosses% would be possible in darkest dungeon, but as most people also wouldn't play that way casually, i don't really see that making sense
Either they updated things or PS5 is different. As my players progress they cannot run on easier levels like what he is doing. Once I hit level 3, I was locked into the veteran runs and the same with level 5 and the champion runs. This made stygian much more difficult.
@@dimitrisalisafakis9054 well there are categories for each game to speedrun it, this one is stygian Any%, so you gotta play in stygian and you can basically use exploits and glitches to achieve that goal. Given the fact that stygian does not only increase stress gain, it doesnt completely negate the difficulty chosen. The purpose of the game is not to be speedrun. Then again, I could be wrong in any of those points, even though I'm fairly certain that I'm on the right track :)

Any% is the category and means (usually in speedrun terms) completing the game as fast as possible in any way.

What does the "any%" stand for?
It is a speedrun-term that essentially means - complete the game in any way (so only doing whats necessary, not 100%ing the game) :)

To get more loot, since we're doing everything with one party(without antiquarian) - and we also want the upgrades :)

The constant crit hits after resetting just shows that there is no real rng, but rather scripted dmg.
