    One thing that a lot of UA-camrs don't understand that the growth of a channel takes time. Nothing happens overnight and you're gonna need to nurture your channel like a plant. You need to water it daily, provide sunshine, and most importantly, have patience! 👌🏻

    I’ve been vlogging consistently for a year and a half and my channel never took off. It used to bother me a lot because it’s so much work and effort for basically zero return. But now I’ve come to a point where I don’t even care if I take off anymore. I just love making videos and having the memories with my family. I just enjoy sharing our ups and downs whether 20 or 20,000 people watch it!

      Maybe you should look at your channel and look into your thumbnails, keywords, etc. to make sure it’s searchable and appealing. Also your editing style, or how you show yourself on camera. These tips gave me small results (I’m a small channel) but it helped, nonetheless.

    These were all great questions! I love watching your videos for many reasons but one big one is that you make me feel like this is something I can do. It’s something I can achieve. I shouldn’t give up. I’m on the right path. And my heart skips a beat because I feel I’m doing what I love. And you just motivate me so much, without even doing anything specific, and I thank you for it!!

    As a creator myself, and a deaf one at that, one thing [mainly hearing] UA-camrs miss on is the lack of [proper] captioning on videos. Not the auto stuff because it isn't acceptable, but manual. There are various ways to do get them done (typing them yourself, outsourcing, editing the auto captions for proper grammar and speed, etc) and it makes content accessible which helps out the creator themselves as they will get more of an audience that has been searching for accessible content, and it helps us as viewers out so we're not left in the dark in terms of enjoying content.

    • @JulianSteve
      @JulianSteve 3 роки тому +2

      I agree with you Rikki. I am trying my best to add more captions on my videos. So far, I am doing it for my most popular videos, but I am aiming to add more in the summer of 2021🙌🏾‼️

    When you paused to think about and explain how full your iMac is, I knew EXACTLY what you were about to say because my iMac was Insanely full of huge files as well! It was also slowing down my editing and crashing Final Cut Pro. I felt your pain , LOL! I finally got a 2 TB external drive to edit of of and a 4 TB external drive for storing my final videos. Now, as soon as I finish a video it goes off of the 2 TB drive and gets stored on the 4 TB one. Thank you for this video, Cathrin!

I started my channel as a support form my very niche podcast and was surprised when my subs skyrocketed after 4 months based on 2 videos and I wound up being monetized but wasn't an original goal. But I realized from watching you I could be focused and do so much better. Since I do automotive related videos, I find that moving the camera to change angles keeps it more interesting and over explaining works for me, since it’s easier to edit out rambling than it is to add footage later. I’m going to try bullet points though, since I find even rambling will sometimes omit points I wish i’d made. 🤔

    When it comes down to the script/structure of a UA-cam video, I guess it requires a balance. If I am doing a voiceover and then a load of b-roll to help demonstrate the story, then I always need a script. If I am doing a more 'talking heads' style video, then I have a notebook to help me with the structure but I tend to chat to the camera and then remove all the 'umms' and 'errs'.

    Love the video! I was actually thinking of doing something similar, so thanks for the inspo! I just want to give a tip on multi-angle editing. In Final Cut, if you go into the metadata of each cam's clip and label them cam A, B, and C, you can select all three clips when you're importing and if you right click, you'll have the option to create a multi-cam clip. You can then click Shift, Command, 7 to open the angle editor. You can chose to do video only switching so that you keep the audio of only the clip you want the audio from. After that, you literally just press the 1, 2, or 3 buttons and it will cut and change to the angle you want all on one timeline. The downside to this is that it creates temporary files that eat up a ton of storage and it takes a lot longer to render, so a lot of the times I just do it the same way you did it haha. My MacBook would sometimes struggle to handle the multi-cam clips too.

    I'm so curious what the soundtrack is that you always include in your vlogs! It plays in my head sometimes while I'm doing house projects, and I would love to listen to it.. It's such a vibe... :)

    Thank you so much for creating this video so incredibly helpful. I am officially getting serious on my UA-cam channel in Spanish because for me that’s more realistic in person. I decided to pay for tube buddy, epidemic sound and planning out my content. Your tips and honestly definitely is helping me so much . Your honestly so amazing 🥰🤩

    Great video, there's so much work behind the scenes that people don't realise!

    Love this! Loved seeing your FCP timeline. I'm starting to switch over from iMovie to Final Cut Pro and slowwwwwwwly learning it. I attempted Davinci Resolve, but feel like that's probably a bigger learning curve. FCP at least seems an "easier" jump over. Thanks for sharing your behind-the-scenes process! ps. I signed up for Epidemic Sound through your link - I'm happy you're making a percentage from me monthly! 😜
