    Nitori is a slow but heavy hitting character, however her attacks are quite disjointed and unpredictable. She's one of those characters that you need to know the ins and outs of thoroughly to properly play as her or else you'll have many instances of attacks not behaving how you'd expect. Be them heavy attacks with blind spots or projectiles that don't instantly fire, rather set up a target to hit after a moment.
    Kokoro similarly is a tricky fighter, however her idiosyncrasies are much more controlled. Melee wise your biggest threat is the fact that Kokoro moves around so much with her attacks and combos it's very easy to completely miss when going from one attack to the next. However the biggest thing that sets her apart from other fighters is her emotion mechanics. Three of her specials (and finishers of combos) will give her one of three different emotions and change the color of her dress accordingly. All of Kokoro's projectiles behave differently depending on what emotion is currently active.

    I love how Doremy is the most useless AI "Perfect Possession" partner. I mean, yes, it makes complete sense as she WANTS them to lose so she can herd them back to the dream world properly, but it's still so funny watching her shift in and sit there with that smug punchable look like "hey, I'm a big target, come get me!"

    2:26 And here we have the authentic Nitori experience only two minutes into the video. Boy do I hate playing as her- she's just _so_ wonky, egh.
    15:35 Oh no. Portrait of Ruin PTSD flashbacks.
    ...actually jokes aside, if somebody made a "voice-over program" like Hisoutensoku's, it'd be cool if they called the other into play like that.
    16:42 And a moment to appreciate Tenshi's ridiculously beautiful skirt design. _Reflective water clothing, holy potato._ "Flawless Clothing of the Celestials" indeed, that thing looks amazing.

    Kokoro I think you've been hanging around Koishi too much, her savagery been rubbing off you.
    Doremy Sweets, her smugness comes from the fact that even if you beat her, the moment you go to sleep your in her domain and thus helpless (Also she know's all your dirty dreams)
    Is it me or is Tenshi smaller than I imagined her to be from her character portrait? Also I'm waiting for Yukari to sick Train-kun on her

      People have been joking for a while about how Tenshi became a Loli in AoCF. It's really weird seeing what appeared to be one of the taller characters in SWR have to stand on a keystone to match the height of this game's cast. Also, it's pretty funny how she was paired with Shinmyomaru, who is even smaller.

      You have no idea how much much of a stupid grin I had on my face when I was learning this game brought back The Ground's Color is Yellow, Flawless as Clothing of the Celestials and Unknown X. Those were some great throwbacks to the ground fighters.
      And yeah, Tenshi caught me off guard with how short short she is now that we see her in realistic proportions rather than the chibi style of the ground fighters sprites. Though I suppose it's accurate considering Tenshi's supposed to be a kid who became a celestial along with her family when the rest of them became celestials.

    Please don't forget to explain the urban legends of the new characters like you did back in ULiL. I know that they aren't even mentioned in the story, but even I don't know the details. And _please_ explain Sumireko's -new- true urban legend, as I feel that Bee is going to be _very_ confused about what's happening if you don't.

    Also, gotta love how Nitori is more vulgar in the official translation than the fanmade one. Isn't it usually the opposite?

    • @MegamanOmega184
      @MegamanOmega184  6 років тому +7

      Generally fan translations aren't handled by as large and dedicated group as the Touhou fanbase. Also helps that with the way the translation patch works the fanmade translation is constantly updated with new and more accurate translations while the official patch is stuck with the same translation it did when it first was released.

    • @Flygoniaks
      @Flygoniaks 6 років тому +5

      Yeah, but I remember that the old IN translator had shoehorned the word "bitch" into Marisa's dialogue because they thought it was funny. Not to mention the whole "balls" thing with ULiL. Translators can have their fun too, I guess. When a joke is lost in translation, you may have to make a new one in its place.
      On a side note, I'm still really confused about the bubble translations. Could they not have just translated the spell names and then fixed the errors in the subtitles? Or did this translation require that they replace entire fonts (as I've heard is sometimes the case)? Also, I wish they took some liberties in shortening the story mode spell names so that the text did not overlap if you used your own spells.

    • @MegamanOmega184
      @MegamanOmega184  6 років тому +6

      @@Flygoniaks Keep in mind, said IN translation has the same problem that I mentioned this official patch has. It's a hard patch so latter made updates couldn't happen. So if you run IN with the thcrap patch the "bitch get out of the way" line is nowhere to be seen.
      And the constant balls thing from ULiL is completely accurate (what did you think it was otherwise?). The things are called オカルトボール or Okarutobōru. So yeah, Occult Ball is a completely accurate translation. It just so happens that characters _constantly_ talking about balls throughout the entire game will cause some unexpected hilarity (Let us wager our balls and fight!)
      Keep in mind the "official" translation actually has all the problems you attribute to what's normally associated with a fan-translation. It's done by a single "professional" and and mistakes made the first time around are stuck for the remainder of time with no way to adjust them if someone finds a mistake.
      Also, quite frankly I don't know what the issue is with the translation here and the bubbles. I'm assuming it has something to do with having to create font, spacing and bubbles themselves from scratch (keep in mind all the text and word bubbles were vertical in this game) but even still I don't know why they still so badly fit in these bubbles. Quite frankly you'd think it would have been easier and looked better if they just replaced the subtitles for the official translation with the new one and forgot about the word bubbles entirely.

    • @Flygoniaks
      @Flygoniaks 6 років тому +4

      It's possible that replacing the subtitle text is harder than one would think. It may be that these subtitles are not actually text, but images/textures within the game's code. I know some other games have done this (the _Sonic Adventure_ series was one) and I'm not sure why, but maybe it has something to do with that method having less glitch potential or being less straining on the computer. I dunno, maybe every single character in Tasofro's speech bubbles is it's own separate object, and they don't want to overload things?
      Honestly, when I play this game (I have it in my Steam Library but have not had the time) I think I'll just stick with the official translation. Though it has it's many flaws, there's never a moment where the actual meaning of the original Japanese is lost (i.e. you can still understand it fine). Having spellcard names be translated would be nice and all, but if they're going to take up more than half the screen and overlap I think I'd rather not. You, of course, have to use the fan translation so you can link up your timestamps, and that's fine too.
      Edit: I'm pretty sure they had to do _some_ font modding for the spellcard names, as I saw some earlier versions of the fan translation where the card names were glitched. Basically, only a few letters of each name was visible sporadically, with the rest showing up as hashtags. I guess Tasofro never implemented every Latin character into their font? I'll go see if I can't find an example video on this site. Be back soon enough!
      Edit 2: Here's an example from the same scenario as this video, courtesy of Mono Chrome:
      { ua-cam.com/video/-Iz6JnUBlc4/v-deo.htmlm48s }
      The fact that the card names are glitched but the bubble text is pretty much the same as it is now suggests that they are two separate fonts, so it would be possible to change the card names while leaving the bubble text alone. Hopefully someday someone makes a translation patch that does just that, and also truncates the spell card names so they still have their basic meaning but don't take up half the screen.

    • @Flygoniaks
      @Flygoniaks 6 років тому +1

      Also, I just this realized by looking closely: the reason the bubbles never fit the text is that they are just the game's Japanese text bubbles turned sideways. (You can tell by tracking the floral patterns within them.)

    Ooh, is that a new version of Unknown X during the Tenshi fight?
    Have to say, the plot is starting to get interesting here, especially that we now know what roles Tenshi and Doremy play in this. I still wonder about Yukari though and what role she is playing other than being a bearer of warnings, but then again, I don't really get her xD

    Okey, i’ve been wondering about this for awhile now, but, why is Nitori using a rotor in her backpack? I mean she CAN fly right? I’m pretty sure we show her flying in the game she debuted in🤔.

    • @MegamanOmega184
      @MegamanOmega184  5 років тому +1

      It's not about practicality, it's about sending a message.
      In all seriousness, she can fly normally, but she also _LOVES_ tinkering with machines. So really it's more a hobby than necessity.
      Alternative option is just that she can fly, but flies _really_ slow. So the rotor is less to allow her to fly and more to supplement her flight to allow her to go faster than she would if she didn't have it.
