    I just viewed this and the one before it. How interesting to see some videos about bio-active not necessarily being the best for your reptile. It amazes me how we keep learning and growing as reptile keepers. Always learning...love it! Thank you for these insightful videos!

    I just thought I would say that I really appreciate any of your videos on this species. I'm usually more of an invert person but this animal is one of the most beautiful creatures I know - my favorite reptiles by far (although all geckos are adorable). Before stumbling upon you on your collab with tarantula kat, I honestly thought it wasn't possible to have these as pets. I had only seen pictures of them in nature and probably just assumed they were just another of these "incredibly cool and very endangered species that no one breeds because not enough people care and the rest don't have the permits/connections to get their hands on wild-caught breeding pairs - OR - they must have some needs/behaviors that make them very hard to keep in captivity" as either or both are the case with most animals I adore (one example is the Olm (Proteus anguinus): they are endangered, replicate very slowly, have high demands on their habitat and aren't very commonly known so very few are kept in captivity (and all, as far as I'm aware, in research centers and 1-2 zoos)).
    So thank you for making videos about your Uroplatus phantasticus geckos - learning that they can be kept as pets and are actively being bred in captivity makes me really happy. At least like that, I have to fear less that they will be lost completely if we humans continue to destroy their habitats in the wild. If they get more popular, people might look to keep and preserve similar species that aren't yet bred in captivity. And who knows - maybe I even get to keep one as a pet one day.

    I would love a chahoua, but basically I fell in love with geckos in general. I would love to have a gecko room with on one side tropical enclosures & on the other side arid species & all bioactive as I found out I absolutely love putting together a terrarium/viviarium. I got my first Crested Gecko Elfi a month ago & she is doing amazing in her 45x45x90cm bioactive setup. What I found online is most people saying juveniles prefer a smaller enclosure because it would be easier to find their food, but I disagree. She's been eating better than in her bin setup & her colors are much more vibrant. I just make sure to put like 3 or 4 cups with a bit of pangea in different spots so she finds her food quickly. But man do I now understand why most people do not have just one reptile👀👀Lol😂🤣 I'm already saving up to set up a new terrarium.

    Oh hooray! Glad the kids are doing so well! I..... am probably silly but I've fallen in love with my Chinese Cave Gecko boy and I think I'd like to own: MORE. At least a pair or trio of each of the 24 species of Goniurosaurus (someday). For the moment, I'd settle for just a few of the species readily available in captivity. I just think they're neat! Can't really handle them but they're neat! Shy weird little geckos that I kinda love. Apparently they're danged easy to breed too but getting groups with the right sexes is hard.

I am so glad that they are doing okay :) If I could have any that I wanted, I would totally pick the Malaysian Cat Gecko (Aeluroscalabotes felinus) I want one so bad and they are always imported. I would love to successful breed them so that they don't need to be taken from the wild.

    Hi just saw your Video. I love your chanel but I really don't understand why you keep your leaf tailed Geckos in such little tanks. Like you said there is a problem with ventilation and the bioctive set up. Why don't you try a bigger size for each gecko to rise up the air volume of your enclosure? Yeah you have not enough space, but you said some of them unfortunately died... Instead of breeding more geckos I would spend the extra space to size up. I always appreciate to see how diffrent people from different continents keep their animals. You can learn a lot. And I know that space is not the only thing.... But I think the truth of good husbandry is in the middle. Here in Europe the herpetologist prefer a size of 15"x15"x25" as a bare minimum. Your tanks look far smaller. Like I said this means not to be the truly right way. But I think overthinking what a lot of herpetologists and other reptile keeper say is worth a try. Especially to give the bioctive set up another chance....... I hope you know what I mean, my english is really bad🤣

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  3 роки тому

      I appreciate your concern, thank you for taking the time to write me. I’m not sure if you’ve seen my older videos or if you looked carefully in this one but all these animals used to be kept in large enclosures that were full of live plants. I purposely transferred them into these little enclosures as a temporary quarantine/control measure to monitor closely and make sure each animal was okay. Now my intention is to move them back into the larger terrariums (12x12x18) which is more than sufficient for a pair or even trio of this species. Thank you

    • @reptile_whisperer
      @reptile_whisperer 3 роки тому

      @@Reptiliatus Yeha I know about the quarantine. I watched almost every video of you, including the veeeery old videos 🤣 and I also think that you take really good care with your reptiles. In spite of that I think an aboreal reptile should have more opportunity to climb. But at least it is mine opinion and the opinion of people who watched these reptiles in nature. At this point I think you have to go back to plastic plants because of setting up a bioctive enclosure in this size is nearly impossible. I hope your reptiles are now healthy after the quarantine.
