“Phantastic” video my friend! It’s so funny watching this footage back and seeing how tired I was some of those nights 😂. I promise I was having the most amazing time! Was a true pleasure finding members of my favourite Gekkonidae genus with you! Uroplatus are truly amazing 🦎🍂! 🤠
I just want to say thank you for taking us on these amazing adventures with you, it is so awesome to see these animals and reptiles in their natural habitat hopping, eating and having a wonderful life. I hope you have an amazing weekend dāv
Gr8 video Dāv. I've learnt so much watching your channel. And congratulations - you are the first you tuber that i have ever binge watched😎 Unfortunately got the covid 19 virus so stuck at home on ths sofa watching Dāv Kaufmann tour the world and educate me. I think the Amazon was the best. I'd love a gecko. One day!!! Have a nice day. 🇬🇧Dave, Hanover Germany
Awesome video Dav🎉 appreciate you taking the time to make this video as I’m a keeper of a keeper of sikorae and phantasticus! Appreciate your work Dav muffin!
This is the video I’ve been looking forward to the most. Uroplatus are by far my favourite genus of geckos. They are all so damn cool. I used to keep phants but I really like the bigger species.
From what I’m gathering so far, is that they might do better in the basement or the cellar for your house than in your the main floor of your house, like your living room or bedroom
Excellent content bro....... It’s horrifying seeing and knowing the habitat for the creatures of Madagascar is almost completely destroyed by human population and development.... Sure would love to see the entire Iskand of Madagascar a wildlife preserve void of any humans aside from caretakers of this preserve.... I have had the pleasure of keeping and breeding many euro plat. species in captivity over my 50 years of life..... Crazy how the locals cut down trees solely for charcoal when natural gas is available...... Fuckin hunans are selfish and wasteful...... Please everyone get our 💩 together..... We aren’t the only animals on planet earth.... We are part of an amazing ecosystem on earth... We are all connected..... Shout out Brian Barczyk....... Good vibes only..... One x
I keep the inside of my house at 70°F year round. Would it be safe to not use a heat source? Since they need high humidity. Is a fogger ideal? Everything inside of the enclosure should be covered in a layer of moss? Would a mesh or screen enclosure be a good choice? Thinking something along the lines of a chameleon.
Rather rude of that one gecko to give its opinion on filming like that...seems a frequent habit of reptiles to answer the call of nature in the middle of a shoot.
One thing I hate about American reptile keepers they only talk about what the trend is. Europeans seem the only place that talk and have a lot of rare and unique reptiles. There are so many different kind so Uros. Yet they only talk about this specific. I'm going to dislike this video. At first i was excited when he mentioned Uroplatus. After seeing it it was very disappointed.
love this i just got a crested gecko bot 2 wk ago .she adjusting well i love her ...i try toduplicate her hsbitat in my exo terrs n yea my girl definatly comes out in evening too
I wonder how much the color and patterns of these animals varies in the wild.I always wondered if you have come across animals with albinism or anything like that in the wild.
It's amazing to see these little creatures in the wild. And frankly, that's where they should stay. I think Dav does a good job educating people about them but I really hope they don't "become popular" in the industry because that just means that the species will become more and more threatened. Poaching animals to sell as pets is one of the biggest threats to most animals (along with deforestation and killing for "traditional medicine.")
I agree with you on some points but we aren't poachers and there is becoming less and less habitat for them to live in the wild, so captive breeding initiatives will eventually be the only thing that saves them from extinction.
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures Hi Dav, thanks for replying. I fully agree with you on the importance of captive breeding initiatives. Sadly, habitat destruction is the foremost threat to wildlife. I do however think that captive breeding initiatives should only be run by qualified and skilled professionals, not every Tom, Dick and Harry who goes to a pet shop and gets something on a whim. Thank you again for your kind reply.
I really liked how Dayyan pointed out the calcified sacks in the uro geckos become enlarged in captivity because I've seen that in other videos. This video was so informal and wonderful to see! I love you guys love the compilation and these videos!
I had a pair of henkeli which don't seem to be available in the hobby anymore about 20 years ago and just loved them. They would produce eggs and lived for many years.

Glad you enjoyed it!
So at night 68-73 degrees cool and humid, but did you guys get any readings for the daytime when they're still out just hiding in plain sight?
Yes, you’ll see that in the satanic leaf tail gecko video coming up
They seem friendly and gentle.
What do they eat?
Great vid Dav...and thanks for the $100 dollars to say that... wait this money seems funny!!! ;) great sound effect too I sh*t you not
Any time! Lol
I have seen a sikorae poop in a video before I have seen a sikorae in real life. Life is weird
From what I’m gathering so far, is that they might do better in the basement or the cellar for your house than in your the main floor of your house, like your living room or bedroom
Quite possibly
how would you say their numbers are doing in the wild? do they have a chance ?

Yes to everything but the screen enclosure. Use a Zilla front opening glass terrarium
Can you please add carpet pythons on your list of animals to see in the wild? Specifically coastal carpet pythons or bredlis
If it wasn't for covid, I'd already have that done. I'll film it the next time I'm down under
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures ah okay I see, thank you for considering it, they’re my favorite snakes
any plans for an "in the wild" video in Europe?
I'll be heading there in April and we'll see
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures woohoo Davs coming to Europe 🥳
How hot during the day?
I'll show that in the satanic leaf tail vid coming up
Chameleons? Panther?

Anytime i hear "treetrunks" i think adventure time, making it the perfect name for one of these little guys
It would be very useful to also have the daytime humidity and temp value
"if you're an insect..." *Rainbow Meal Worms ad pops up* Timing is EVERYTHING!🤣

Ahahahaah. Love the pop sound effect
Beautiful Gecko
Love them.
Incredible video! So glad you got to find these!!
Thanks Billy!

Mossy Leaf Tailed Geckos are my favourite species of Gecko.
One of mine too
Awesome video! Thanks Dav’!
Glad you liked it!
I know you already provide so much info but would it be possible to spotlight some of the fascinating plants in these locations? 😊
That's coming up in the next video!
Would love it if you came across some pictus geckos, i know there from the south of Madagascar. Would be cool to see their habitat.
Maybe on my next trip I'll find those
