Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Mossy leaf-tailed geckos (Uroplatus sikorae) have got to be some of the most interesting and amazing of all lizards! Their flat tails, mossy coloration, and crazy fringes all come together to create a gecko that is simultaneously gorgeous and a master of camouflage. But is the mossy leaf-tailed gecko the best pet lizard for you?

As promised, here is a sneak peak at one of the most exciting reptiles I could ever receive: ua-cam.com/video/MPrxCNSIuLc/v-deo.html
Wheres the link for that lady's website??
You are awesome. I look at your channel to learn if the animal is for me. Thanks
Speaking of awesome looking masters of camouflage, Could you ever go through pros and cons of owning a pet octopus? You might be expert in reptiles, but for this argument ill just assume you know everything about every animal anyone has ever owned ever. :)
Wait video game out an hour ago for me and it says comment 10 hours ago
@@tunderstormax the link to Reptifiles in the video description :)
"Lick that eye. All the Cool kids are doing it." I love how Clint talks to reptiles.
I can't help myself :)
@@ClintsReptiles we love that about you 😊
Lizard: They can't see me if I don't move. *gets a camera shoved in their face* Ah yes completely invisible
I would name mine Dr. Alan Grant.
Me showing my mom me “look at the gecko” my mom “why is he talking about a stick”
More gecko keepers have ended up in institutions this way...
Meanwhile my geckos are mostly white and are still CONVINCED they are invisible when unmoving :-D
Gecko? What gecko? All I see is a stick. You must be paranoid.
"say the word Clint !"
"This is the *coolest* creature on the planet"
*HOORAY*
love your video
I'm a simple man. I see a clint's reptile video, I click like. Liked the video before even watching.
You're awesome! I'm so thankful that you can count on us :)
Same. We all know it’ll be worthy.

@@davidoconnor3930 bro, you’re 8 months late. Get a life 😹.
I love leaf-tailed geckos, they are stinkin rad! Definitely need to add one to the family ♡
They're very tempting indeed.
Me too but I can’t seem to find one
@@raymondjacque6594 look up undergroundreptiles.com
@@J-The-Researcher underground has a lot of bad reviews have you ever got anything from them ? I'm thinking of getting a soloman island ground boa from them but I don't want a snake to arrive in bad condition or even dead.
@@takumori I have looked at their reviews they don't have many bad reviews but there are a couple vids saying not to buy from them. I have never bought from them, I simply know they have them in stock.
Clint: Hello! today I am here with....
A stick!!
Yay I can finally watch you I have played with my aunt all day because she is living at our house because of the really bad fires in Red feather Colorado
I just had a leaf gecko at my doorstep. We get a few of them that hunt at night. These ones don't run off. I gently handled it and moved away.
All the leaf tailed geckos are some of the most beautiful geckos
Isn't it odd how some of the "prettiest" reptiles evolved that way to just look like a stick, or some leaves, or otherwise boring things?
Apparently the world is full of beauty that we overlook simply because it is common :)
Yea, the evolved for camouflage, it’s beautiful isn’t it?
Well, Hi there!
Stick insect: " Who are you calling boring..?"
@@MotörheadMickey I was saying that some of the coolest things evolved to look like things that we generally overlook, stick insects are stinkin' rad.
Hi Clint, you should make a spreadsheet that has all the scores of the reptiles you have calculated. Maybe linking to the videos too. It would be a great help to those of use deciding between which pet to get in the future. Keep up the great work!
"This is probably one of the coolest animals to ever exist" Clint every episode.
And its true everytime
I saw some in the wild, when I went to Madagascar 2 years ago :)
Would have loved it if the joke of the stick would have continued a bit longer - I am very interested if the stick would have been the perfect pet for me. Very handleable, affordable, outstanding hardiness,... such a strong contender!
Handleability: 5

Hardiness: 0 (they are all dead or dying).

@@ClintsReptiles But then again, you cannot kill a dead thing? So very hardy in my book!
mossy leaf tail geckos are so beautiful
FACT!
What a cool looking lizard. I didn't know they even existed.
“If you need something mossy” is a wonderful turn of phrase!
Wonderful little lizard! Those toes are adorable!
A look but don't touch gecko. A perfect little display animal. Beautiful girl 💕
Someday I will get one them and Abronia are definitely way up on my dream lizard list.
That's a good list.
one of my favourite geckos (i’m biased to leopards though)
will wait until the captive breeding of this species goes on for a few more years, and wait until i’m ready for it
A stunning species of gecko
Man this lady is doing such awesome work, and I hope she knows how many of us appreciate it. I wish like hell I had known about her website when I was trying to prepare for my ball python before him. It took a ton of time to find a bunch of care info even for something simple like a ball python, and to compare and contrast info I was finding, hoping I had a good sense of which sources were the most trustworthy. I'm so glad to know there will be a place for me to look when I do my research for my future snakes.
My favorite reptile! My dream pet!!
I can't believe you actually made this! My goal in life is to breed Uroplatus geckos and make inexpensive CB individuals more widely available in the hobby. Keep up the great videos!
So, I first found this channel looking for opinions on Blue Tongued Skinks. That video was incredibly helpful. I continue watching, however, because your enthusiasm and sense of wonder with every animal you cover is just wonderful. So positive, and I love it.
When I was a little kid, my dad got into reptiles. We went to a dude's house to buy some new geckos and he had a mossy leaf tail gecko, I fell in LOVE immediately. Sadly I've never been able to own one. But I'll always remember that gecko so vividly. Thanks for sharing Clint
I'm so glad I discovered reptifiles this is honestly one of the coolest things I've seen about reptile care. I've been wanting to start keeping reptiles but I have so much anxiety about doing something wrong because of the differences in care I hear about. I love this it covers so much of what I was worried about. theres links to scientific journals and research I can look into I love it thank u guys so much
So glad to hear it!
@@ReptiFiles ofc
Just found your channel, stinkin rad my dude. I had a pair of leopard geckos when I was a teenager you've made me want to get back into owning reptiles. Your enthusiasm is palpable and contagious.
These guys are so cool!
Thanks for making this video. I found that this was perfect for me; and I am very happy with my Leaf-tailed gecko and I just like admiring it.
Yes!!! You took my request! They’re such cool creatures
It was a great suggestion!
Nice job Mariah!
What a cool reptile.
Not many that rival it.
For a second I thought you were holding a stick with some moss😂 btw never stop doing these types of videos everyone loves them
Geckos “Such as Leaf Tailed Geckos” are known to Camouflage.
I was hoping it would get a better score because this is one awesome looking gecko, but I would like to get a reptile that doesn't mind being handled. Really cool though.
Hello, I hope that you do not mind me making a request but, could you make a video on the Shingleback Skink. Love the channel, keep up the great work.
Hey Clint, I know you usually do the "Best Pet Lizard" format or variants of it, but I was curious if you would consider reviewing you fan-bases reptile setups? It may be a good way to interact with your fans, and give people ideas for their reptile habitats!
After watching all your videos multiple times, I got a crested gecko last month and i can officially answer your question say it is the best pet lizard! Thank you so much for introducing me to this hobby and teaching us about crested geckos. Truly amazing creatures
FINALLY! Been waiting for this Colab for a very long time. Very exciting!
I don’t think I have ever seen an adult leaf tailed gecko. Never ran into them in person and the ones I’ve seen advertised online have always been babies. The tail on these as babies always looked... kind of odd for me. But they look better proportioned to me as adults! It’s not the right gecko for me (id want something that was better for handling) but it’s a cool gecko nonetheless!
Clint! We need a video on Parson's and Meller's chameleons!!!!
Man, reptiles are pretty cute not gonna lie.
Yes! I love reptifiles! Great collab!
You really got a lock on these herp information videos Clint, nobody does it better
The next video should be head to head, human child vs. green iguana!
Oh goodness...
Clint I can't tell you how much I enjoyed our video call last night and I have another one booked for Monday evening already. I can't wait to speak to you again. How do you find out when your next live stream is going to be? I don't want to miss it
I enjoyed it so much as well. I have been analyzing your analytics as well. Our live streams are Fridays at 2pm Eastern.
Very cute and I love their designs!
These are my absolute favorite species of gecko...just spectacularly beautiful. And best camouflage.
I must have watched too many of these, because I knew immediately that Clint would say he was reviewing the stick!
I think I found my spirit animal, I also don’t enjoy being seen. That tail is so cute.
I’ve been waiting for this exact video for so long, these geckos have always stood out to me... sadly I think I’ll need to wait a while before I get one of these, but I definitely hope to interact or even just observe one of these guys in the future. They’re so cool!
Finally more pet REPTILE videos🔥🔥... haven’t seen a good one on reptiles for a minute on here. Very cool gecko, thanks for covering these guys!
Our last three, and five of the last six have been on reptiles.
Not videos on a specific reptile? Last one you did was your snapping turtle video a month ago and before that neon geckos I believe 3 months ago. Just personal preference I like reptile and amphibian videos over invertebrates etc.
Clint!!! I am in serious need of a chuckwalla!... I never even heard of it until today when I was asked if I would take it in. I have sorta started taking in unwanted reptiles and critters. I have watched a few videos and I would feel a lot more educated with your input. thank you for ALL the work you do. You truly inspire me!
That was super neat! Most definitely not the right pet reptile for me, but excellent information and perspective to have that makes so many other animals more special because they CAN be the right pet for me!
More wholesome content as always!
We'll keep it coming :)
@clint's reptiles, i picked up my first snake the other day (W. hognose) and the breeder had a rhino rat snake too, which i fell in love with straight away! reckon you can do a best pet snake on one of those please?? :D
Thinking that those animals are just a result of evolution is an insult to them and takes out all of their value and beauty, these are wonderfully made creatures just like you and i
Uh yeah no. It was evolution
oh, to be able to camouflage as a stick in public situations lol.
It would be nice at times...
stunning gecko and owner...ok clint you are stunning too(as a presenter) ;)
I’m so glad you posted this! Ive been interested in getting one of these for 2 years now.
Hey Clint! i forget when i found you really, but i tend to come back around pretty often. So. i had, this year, found out about the "lace monitor" was wondering if you could do a video on 'em? or consider it anyway, there are some videos i've found on 'em but nothing really talking about care or anything, and more videos on any of these critters is always great anyway, even if i'm not getting one anytime soon. lol.
Wow nice pet stick
The very coolest looking Gecko. Thanks, Clint!
What a great video. And to have somebody from Reptifiles there, that's freaking awesome
We've been friends for a long time :)
@@ClintsReptiles lucky you! ..or lucky them..? 🤔
I think we're mutually fortunate :)
@@jpslizards Without Clint, ReptiFiles wouldn't exist!
@@ReptiFiles there should be a video one day about that. I would love to hear the story :)
What a wonderfully rad little gecko! The patterning and color is stunning!
Would you be able to do a video on hermit crabs in the furture? They are also adorably rad creatures.
"As always Lichen subscribe" i see what you did there?
Nice!
Man, I just found these geckos and went straight to UA-cam to see if you had a video on them. Glad you did! But unfortunately I get so intimidated quickly about owning some of these reptiles for my first. I could never live with myself if I messed up and killed a pet. 😭
Definitely wouldn’t get it for your first
Ah the Madagascan tree wobbegong... Neat...
Imagine if these things got as big as wobbegongs and ate vertebrate prey that found themselves climbing up the wrong tree trunk…
Cool, cryptic creatures, Clint!!
Those are so cool!! I have a leopard gecko and my friend next door has a crested gecko
Awesome!
I have a video call scheduled with you for Tuesday evening and I am so excited. Thank you for all you do
I'm so excited!
Such a beautiful creature. I doubt I'll ever get one; I like either handleable or active pets, but what a beautiful lizard.
By far the best one you have ever done.
Chet O'Brien
love your videos! i was wondering if you would ever do an in depth look into southern alligator lizards. i cant seem to find too much information on how they are as pets, but i find them extremely fascinating as they are one of the few lizards that generate their own heat and shed their skin like snakes. keep up the amazing work!
love the video! you should try and do an episode on the woma python. You've already mentioned them before, but haven't featured them yet, and they are one of my favorite snakes so I'm interested in seeing what you think of them!
Such a cool species. Just amazing what natural selection can do!
With eyes like those, I'd have a hard time not naming one Sauron or Anatar.
11:36 in this cut from Maria to the gecko I thought.. wow, she has surprisingly hairy arms!
Absolutely Gorgeous.
This is one of my favorites species of Gecko Lizards. Especially one of the Madagascan Leaf Tailed Geckos.
I always feel like one every time I don't get enough sleep.
all uroplatus geckos are super cool! a little on the expensive side though 😔
Love leaf-tailed geckos 💗 thank you for sharing more awesome information sources with us too!
We aspire to have the most well-informed viewership on the planet :)
I lovvve the giant leaf tails! Can't wait for videos on Henkels and the lined leaf tail! 😁
That will be fun!
Some reptiles who don't have enough info on them online that you should totally cover:
- banded geckos
- White spotted gecko
- collared lizards
- chameleon forest dragon
(Also red eyed green tree frogs)
Clint on every reptile: THIS IS THE GREATEST REPTILE ON THE ENTIRE PLANET
You probably have to give em a tree branch that's the same color as they are or they might get stressed. Just a theory.
Worth investigating.
I lived in Orem Utah when I first found your channel and I have to say you’ve reinvigorated my love for reptiles and I can’t wait to have my own one day. Keep up the great content. 😌
That makes me so happy! Are you no longer there?
Clint's Reptiles Unfortunately I’m not! I was going to school at UVU and moved away a little under a year ago but it felt super awesome to watch your videos and see the places you talked about like Animal Ark!
I have been waiting for this
Wow those look really cool!
Can’t wait for the “Great Debate” with B. Kusko. Thanks for more awesome reptile content. Keeping it stinking rad! 👍
Are the Australian Leaf-tails (Phyllurus and Saltuarius species) around in the US? They're also amazing looking and (from what I've heard) might be a bit hardier than the Uroplatus species.
Hey clint can you do grey banded kingsnakes
It's a Gargoyle Gecko wearing a Ghillie Suit.
Correct. Few people notice that.
Absolute stunner! I love things that are impossible to see. What about an ep on flying geckos, not a very common topic.
was waiting for this one thanks so much!
This is one of my favorite species of Geckos.
